Maybe wait for Wednesday to buy 15% JB gift card from Coles. And ask JB to price match. Even better

    • How do you get 15% discount on JB Gift card from coles?

        • +1

          Son of a……….

These don't expire right? I've still got $900 worth from last time (6 months?) from Coles, usable I think at TGG and JBHifi.
I'm hoping to slowly amass enough for a TV.

I had $1000 worth but I spent $100 at TGG for a crap product, refunded it and got $100 in TGG vouchers, ugh. So I'm 'locked' to TGG now for $100.

          • +1

@hamwhisperer: 3 year expiry for the TCN cards.

            • @MiscOzB: Hey thanks man! I thought it was unlimited! I'm already 6 months deep into one set.

      • Home gc I think

        • FYI last time the coles TCN gift card hunt was a train wreck. If you don't want to deal with that, Shopback is offering 5% cashback with TCN directly.

    • Does JB have a max gift card limit that you can use?

      • +2

They are used like EFTPOS cards, not giftcards as such. And you can't use these ones online, as they are more or less EFTPOS cards. Therefore, there shouldn't be a limit. I've personally used 20 in one transaction last time they had that giftcard deal.

      • +2

those gift card is now in store use only. i think i heard people use 60+ gift card before, should be fine. i personally used 15 cards 6 months ago.

        • Is it true that you could only purchase 5 GCs at a time in Coles per T&Cs on the catalogue?

          • @minipenguin: whats the max dollar amount gift card you can get? if its 5 max, you'd need at least 5x$500 to make a bit of a dent in the price.

          • @minipenguin: I bet people will start hiding these cards in the store today so they can safely buy on wednesday lol

          • @minipenguin: do you have family, friends? they can help. if not, just go to different coles in the morning. i am not sure if you can get flybuy points from purchase these GC.but if i were you, i won't scan it, you can buy as many as it's available (5 per shop of course) and nobody knows

          • @minipenguin: Yes, you can only purchase five gift cards at a time.

Coles’ self-service checkouts will only let you purchase a maximum of five gift cards in one transaction, but you require additional approvals from the self-service checkout assistant if you scan four or five gift cards in one transaction. The assistant will only allow you to purchase four or five gift cards in one transaction at their discretion.

Coles’ serviced checkouts (the service desk where tobacco products are sold, or the checkouts where you have a dedicated assistant who packs your groceries for you, etc) will let you purchase up to five gift cards in one transaction, but again, that is at the discretion of the assistant.

Coles’ staff may only let you purchase five gift cards in one visit (or even during a promotional period); I guess it depends on how strict the staff adhere to the “five gift cards per customer” clause.

          • @minipenguin: The limit is only there as part of their scam policy, not there to stop people getting deals. While you won’t be able to do it in the one trip/store you definitely can get more than 5 if you go multiple times or to more than one store.

    • Just called up two different JB stores and person on the phone told me that it's up to the store managers discretion to price match and accept gift card payments on the TV.

I haven't had problems using those cards in the past for smaller purchases so I'm not sure how it'll go for this kind of large payment.

Just got this price matched at JB-HIFI

Don't forget 3% cashback with Shopback also!

    • agh! Ordered before i saw this comment!

  • Hmm, not sure if I should wait for the 77 to hit 4500 or something (one can hope)

    • +7

I think you will be waiting a long time

    • +2

I'm (still) waiting for the 77" C1 to hit $4999. I think we may see it soon. Fingers crossed! I'd also pay $5499 for the 77" G1. :)

      • +1

And today is that day ;)

        • +1

I picked that pretty well huh? :p

    • +1

it’s genuinely challenging when the US Deals for the 77” C1 and A80J are in the USD $2,899 (AUD$4000) range. On Amazon/BestBuy, no less.

It makes the Australian RRP of $6999 and $7499 prices look like profiteering.

Obviously ATSC is not compatible with AU DVB-T broadcast, but it’s a significant enough difference to consider grey importing and saving 50%

      • Spoke too soon, the 77” and 83” deals with TGG/BL/HN came out, and they’re not too shabby.

  • great price

  • +1

TGG didn't want to match, said best they could do was $3400. JB matched, processing now.

  • -1

For those who just got it. Enjoy, best TV for movies and gaming. When you play on the PS5, the input lag is so low that it feels almost cheating.

  • Thanks OP, just did a price protection claim on my credit card.

  • Thanks OP. Been waiting for this. Delivery wasn't free for me in Adelaide ($85), but the CashRewards should cover it. Just pumped to be finally getting one of these!

I have really liked the convenience of having Android on my Sony TV for installing apps like VLC Player, third part free TV apps, frequent updates.

How do these LG / Samsung OS compare?

    • I agree, i much prefer google tv compared to webos, I'll be getting a Chromecast with Android TV for mine, LG webos still doesnt have Kayo as far as I know, not sure about VLC.

    • +2

Tossing up between C1 and A80J for this exact reason.
Any WebOS related issues could be solved by an Android TV stick/ Nvidia Shield etc., however you wouldn't expect to pay extra on top of a premium OLED price.

      • +5

Chromecast sticks are so cheap these days unless you really want the Nvidia Shield. Personally, I would judge C1 vs A80J on how you plan to use it beyond the UI. Both are amazing TV's but also have their flaws. If you game much at all then the C1 is much better. A80J has better picture quality due to the better processer so if you're purely a tv/movie buff then I would go the Sony.

Sony has promised to bring in some gaming features (variable refresh rate) via firmware but their first go at after a long wait has been a nightmare so I would not rely on that.

        • Why is the C1 much better for gaming? It has more HDMI 2.1 ports from memory but what else has it got going for it

          • @wizza13: Lower input lag, supports gysnc and freesync and has variable refresh rate (probably the most important gaming feature). VRR allows the screen to match the console refresh rate scene to scene. Without it you can get screen tearing and stuttering

          • @wizza13: There are benefits with image processing on the A80J/A90J and Bravia XR chipset, versus the A9 Gen4 processor of the C1 and G1.

The odds are that the Sony won’t get VRR unless they implement the same version as the X9000H, which has a half-vertical resolution VRR 4K mode or is limited to 60Hz 4K.

It’s also only 1 HDMI 2.1 port on the Sony, if you use a soundbar.

While you can also get a HDMI mixer box (very not cheap- $600-$800) like the HDFury VRRoom which is VRR compatible, the differences are subtle.

    • +1

This is a downside of LG WebOS. The app store is more limited, apparently it can be difficult to get apps onto there. The apps that are there get updated fairly frequently though.
There are some things like 10 Play and Kayo/Binge that aren't available, however you can access them through the built in web browser or by casting to the TV.

but that's the country where you can buy gun in store and no free health care

        • +9

Probably in the same aisle as the C1 as well!

        • +4

i'll take the gun and the 2.2k C1 oled.

@hippyhippy: don't forget to buy insurance too.

            • @ntt: I already have private health insurance here … which doesn't really cover you for anything

        • Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones

        • +2

but that's the country where you can buy gun in store and no free health care

Nowhere has free healthcare. Someone, somewhere has to pay for it.

          • @1st-Amendment: tell that to whom need it but too poor to afford it

            • @ntt:

tell that to whom need it but too poor to afford it

Doesn't make it free. Someone is still paying for it.

              • @1st-Amendment: agreed with the part it is actually not free, there is no such thing as 100% free. However, if you're receiving something which don't pay for it, it's technically free. Same arguments apply to any "free" advertisements here and there

      • +1

Don't forget the 10% GST and paying staff a living wage etc.

  • Probably not the best place for this but has anyone else had issues with their LG B8 65" (or similar models) restarting on its own? Factory resetting and turning it off at the switch helps for a while but the problem comes back.

I should have done something while it was still under warranty but I foolishly thought it would go away on its own.

I've also tried turning off Quick Start and some other settings. I feel like it's just a problem with the hardware/capacitors or something.

    • +2

contact them anyway, pretty big flaw and consumer protection isn't just the warranty period especially for big purchases that you expect to last longer.

      • I should have added that I did try contacting them a while back when I noticed it only reset when using built-in apps like Netflix and Stan. They suggested it was an issue with my network connection.

Since then it has been resetting when playing PS4/Switch and using my Chromecast.

Thanks for the response - I'll be contacting LG support again.

    • +1

Yeah that's one of the faulty power supplies. You should have a popup on the TV telling you to call LG for a free replacement.

      • I have not seen a popup but I will contact LG support again. Thanks for the response!

    • LG sent a couple technicians out and they replaced something inside the TV. So far, so good! Thanks for the suggestion, I would have continued living with it if it weren't for you two.

      • send me a pm

        • would also appreciate a link. i don't think your pm is turned on?

        • can't - says you don't accept them

Thanks OP, got it. $2913.32 after cashback, early xmas present for me

  • +1

Great price. What are people's thoughts of this vs. the Sony A80J?

    • +2

Sony A80J: better picture quality (although it is a matter of percentages, the LG is still very very good, it's the same panel after all). Interface is Google TV.

LG: does all the gaming stuff. Buy if you PS5 / Xbox. Interface is WebOS.

    • I went with the A80J as I don't game on the TV. Purely used for media and I much prefer the Google TV UI to webOS.

If you game on tv I'd go with the LG as it's really a gamble whether Sony's implementation of VRR will be good.

Got the 65" c1 about 6 months ago, upgraded from a 50" plasma at the time. It seemed really big for about 1 week, now I wish I had of got the 75". On a side note picture quality is awesome, i don't like webos, my android tv box is better, lack of apps is annoying kayo etc. Remote is also a bit unresponsive at times, having to hit buttons multiple times to get a response. Not unhappy with the purchase but it does have some irritating features.

    • That's my dilemma. I view my mates 65" tv all the time (I currently have a 55 inch tv) and while it's a good size it's the minimum I'd want right now for a decent size lounge room. I really want the 77 for the extra immersion but the lack of discounts on this model is annoying

    • I thought I was the only one with a shitty remote and Im about to get a warranty exchange. Seems like it is a common issue. Are all your buttons unresponsive at certain times or only a few culprits? Mine seems to be a couple of buttons that I need to press really hard.

      • No just some and not all the time, and not always the same button.

        • Yea so that is just processing lag. During certain times, when the TV is loading stuff or changing screens it is normal that the controller will lag a bit. Mine is more of a hardware issue where some buttons like the power button is always not responsive. Needs a couple of presses or hard press.

          • @KaTst3R: Yeah I got the power button issue, sometimes 2 or 3 presses or a long press to get it to turn on.

            • @Dodg07: Yup. We got the same issue. Power button is one of the biggest problems for me. Other than that is volume buttons and down button.

    Hi All,
I got the LG 65 inch C1 OLED from Harvey Norman yesterday for $2888.

They said this price will kick in on Tuesday for Black Friday but salesman was happy to give me the same. They had 12 TVs in stock. I picked up one.

    • OOF that's tempting

    • +17

Nice! Only issue is giving money to harvey norman….

      • 😂😂 Took the words right out of mouth!

  • +2

Same as Appliance Central, are they the same company??

    https://www.appliancecentral.com.au/oled65c1ptb-lg-65-inch-4…

  • If i am replacing a wall mounted 65" Sony with this, will it line up in the same way so that the soundbar that's mounted below the TV is still positioned correctly?

    • I could be wrong but last time in HN the sales guy told me LG got it own mounting system vs VESA. Anyone can confirm please do so or correct me. Cheers

      • +1

They don't know what they're talking about. It's a standard 300x200 VESA mount using M6 screws. I know because I mounted mine to a bracket I bought off of Kogan.

        • Good to know. Cheers

    • The VESA mount on the back of the C1 sits very low on the TV as this is where all the electronics are (the top half is all screen so only a few mm thick). Depending on the brackets for your mount, you may be able to set them low enough that they still line up. But for me I had move my entire mount lower. I didn't bother removing the lugs and filling the holes as the TV covers it anyway.

  • I just price matched Harvey's @ Moore Park. The sales rep said that he done a few today and didn't even bat an eye at the website. Might be worth trying to pay with 7% off giftcards from SB.

    Finally got one!

  • Shopback has 6% cashback for Betta Home Living gift cards also.

  • +1

Cheers OP. I've been looking forward to a 65" C1 deal for a while.

With the 5% newsletter signup code, I got it for $2930 incl. delivery (Perth WA)

    • How did you do it ? I can't get the code to work.

      • I thought the code would get emailed, but during checkout (or if you're browsing around the site) you should get a popup after about 30 seconds which prompts you to put in your email and after confirming it will give you a promo code straight away.

        • It didn't show up for me :( I even turned off ad blocker.
