        Emailed support. They seem to suggest SIMs are sent pre-activated but then get refreshed on first use. Let's hope they are true to their word.

        • that makes sense! I remember buying one from one of TA's deal also few months ago or last year, and the timer reset when I went to use it - and then a week later they automatically extended it a week or two as well as a bonus

              @constipated: All fixed. I rang because I didn't want to just watch and see, although they said it would eventually happen. They refreshed it on the spot and a bonus is that I got another 165GB so 330 GB in total.

  • Hi OP, i asked the customer care about my SIM ETA and said might take another 4-5 days more.

    They advised me to get $2 SIM in the meantime and when I mentioned about cashback, she put me on hold and confirmed that it should not affect cashback.

    Is that true?

          You can also log in on the mobile app, the sim number will show up against the number logged in from. Have a play around, it's easy to figure out.

  • Well this is a bit of a conundrum. I bought two SIMS, but cancelled one of them and got a refund.

    Amaysim sent me two SIMS anyway, and I'm not sure which SIM is supposed to belong to which plan, so if I activate the wrong SIM card I won't get cashback.

      • I had 2 purchases, both port in using a new email address (same for both), my 1st transaction was declined whereas the 2nd got approved. That doesn't sound right.
        Both numbers ported successfully.

        • Doesn’t sound right to me. Provided terms were followed, you should be fine. Were both the same plans, or different plans, as you can only buy one of each?       Hi. If the transaction is in pending status in your CR account, it has already tracked. Now that you’ve activated the SIM, amaysim will approve the transaction in the next 1-2 weeks. Cheers.

  • Hi tightarse, I haven't received my sim - I have contacted Amaysim, they said it was shipped on 25/11 but no sign of it, so they said it must have got lost in transit. They've asked me to go buy a $2 sim from a retail shop and activate my plan. Will this void my cashack? I'm not really sure what else to do.

    Hi, and thanks for your feedback regarding some missing/delayed SIM deliveries. I’ve just had a meeting with amaysim, and they’ve advised the following:

    If you’re yet to receive your SIM, please allow until the end of this week (Dec 17) for late deliveries. If you still have not received it by then, go ahead and buy a $2 SIM in-store and then contact amaysim customer service to help activate your service. Amaysim will be honouring these transactions, even though the original terms state otherwise. Note that all other terms must be adhered to for cashback to be approved, including ID verification after PayPal payment etc.

    For those that have received their SIMs and are yet to activate, please note that amaysim cannot approve your cashback until the service is activated (prior to Dec 31) and verified as per the terms of the offer.

      Hi TA, some of us tried to port over the last few days but the process is stalled. I got the first one going through on the same day on the 28th but the second one is stalled. I was told by Amaysim CS there is a Telstra porting out system issue.

      What happens if you completed the Amaysim online porting request before the 31st but the porting is completed in the new year? Will Amaysim still honour the cashback?

        Hi. Honestly not sure, and my amaysim contacts are unfortunately OOO during this period. Let's hope the porting is completed by the the 31st :)

          I got onto online chat with Amaysim CS again. Since it's been 3 days, which is longer than usual, the CS was able to escalate my porting. Gave me a ticket number and advised me to check my email periodically.

    While it's a decent deal the service is terrible frequent drop outs and the internet is just horrible .. spend abit more and go with telstra or boost

  • Initiated number transfer from Catch Connect to Amaysim today morning but still the transfer didn't happen yet. ID is already verified but it's stuck at last stage "your number is transferring". It usually takes 1-3hrs but for me it's over 12hrs now :(

    • I think that takes longer since Catch Connect uses the same Optus 4G Plus. Always best to port in from another network

  • Activating sim and trying to transfer number seems system is down. I have been trying for hours. It's telling me to try later.

  • Ported 2 sims from Boost under different accounts at 8:30am and 9:00am on 28th. The first went through and activated after around 5 hours. The second hadn't yet gone through after 24 hours. Contacted Amaysim just now and I was told that Telstra's porting system is down and there is no time-frame when it will be back up.

  • Ported 2 from Kogan on the 20th. One went through immediately, the other is jammed. Have contacted amaysim daily and they just say optus is experiencing an activation delay. Very frustrating. Can kiss cashback goodbye most likely.

  • I completed our 3 (two ports one new number) across on 24th around 5pm and all were up and running within 5 minutes :)

      I have been told by the Amaysim CS that there is a Telstra port system outage since 28th Dec. My first number from Boost snuck through but the second number is stuck.

        • Yes, got a text message and the Amaysim CS did confirm it's in progress obviously.

          I am not worried about not getting ported eventually. Just the $45 cashback looks risky if Amaysim accepts the completion date instead of the port request date.

            Don't think port request date counts as completion date unfortunately :(

                I am afraid Optus lacks of manpower to complete all backlogs during the holiday break causing the delay in activating your service. We apologise for the inconvenience.

                As a courtesy, we will provide credit once service has been activated. An urgent follow-up has been made today.

  • I went to activate my sim and it's saying the sim is already activated. So I can't port my number over.

    Support is saying I chose New Number when I purchased the sim online so that is why it came preactivated. I don't recall there was an option to transfer my number or select new number.

    Can anyone recall if we had to select transfer my number at the time of purchase?

        • I think its a bit backwards from Amaysim. They should let you decide when activating yourself like what most companies do.

    • My online chat yesterday was escalated to a Resolutions Officer. She called this morning and offered to express post a sim. I am to activate it on a $0.00 plan and choose the option to transfer my number. Once I have done this, email her and she will manually add the 165GB plan for 1yr to this new service and I assume cancel the original service. Hope it all works out. A much happier customer today.

    Ported 2 number from Catch Connect 7:30pm last night, both went through and activated within 30 mins

  • For the 12 months 60gb plan that doesn't include international calls, what happens when you call internationally?
    Does it just not work? Or do they just charge you when you call?

    Signed up the folks to this plan, worried they'll forget and call family in the US. There doesn't seem to be a way to remove the credit/debit card on the website…

  • Hold up, sim activation by the 31st with the word "by" would ordinarily mean including the 31st wouldn't it?

    I've had some health issues lately and just submitted a port request tonight at 10.27pm. Hoping my port request goes through by midnight but if it doesn't, surely an activation by tomorrow (31st) would still be compliant with the terms?

  • Attempted transfer last night at 12:01am. It didn't transfer all day so I logged in and it said it failed.

    Contacted live chat and they said they had to fix the error and then I was ported minutes later and all working.

    Should have done this earlier but in the end, happy I got it in time.

  • TA - is there any chance on getting an update for those who initiated port before the 31st but the port did not complete until after? I initiated mine on the 20th and the port was completed on the 2nd. I have a series of e-mail correspondence with level 2 support following up the delay in my port which was blamed on lack of Optus staff over holiday period.

    • For me Amaysim customer service was exceptional. I mistakenly chose New Number when I ordered the sim. I made more errors when porting my number over. The cust service rep responded promptly, knew what she was doing and fixed all my problems. I seriously have never had this level of service before, it was amazing.

  • Can confirm I got the $45 cash back from the 28th Dec activationn which completed a week later on around the 5th Jan. Very happy with that as I didn't want to waste an hour of my time chasing it up had it not been honoured.

    This is a super duper deal. Would not hesitate to get another 2 sims for the remainer 2 family members if it comes around again.
