  • i dont need a second one but nice find, definitely a bargain!
and i hope people dont compare this to other 24" lcd's that are available…. it's an IPS display, great build quality and most of all; excellent viewing angles and even better color reproduction and accuracy

    • +4

and dont compare it to other IPS screens either, cause this is an e-IPS

      u2410, u2711 & u3011 uses H-IPS

Good gateway monitor if you want something better at a budget

      • Hopefully, with iPad3's screen coming onto market, more people will realise difference between budget (aka. crap) and quality displays.

      • So true. e-IPS vs H-IPS is like SONIQ vs SONY. Monitor quality is actually a lot more than just the panel.

"Not sure when this one will expire"

    • thanks. updated.

Bought one last time it was at this price (couple weeks back). Very happy with the purchase, quality is unreal and 16:10 reso is awesome. If you're on the fence (like I was for 6 months), pull the trigger, its well worth it.

  • +1

Wish they would drop the price a bit more when it's on sale so I can grab another one for dual monitor. Bought one back in September last year, and it was still $279 sale price back then :/

But yes it's a fantastic monitor, a lot better value than the rubbish Dell ST2xxx series of LCD's.

Make sure you adjust your monitor settings to the calibrated ones found here and download the calibrated ICC colour profile for it too (same link). It'll make the colours a lot more accurate (factory defaults are a bit off and way too bright) and you'll be getting the full worth of this awesome panel :)

    • Following someone else's calibration setting =/= perfectly calibrated screen, it can make colours worse. Not all panels are created equally, thus calibration. Adjust it to your liking if you don't have professional tools.

  • It's a good build with plenty of res, so I recommend it at <$300. New members go through StartHere, can get $8.88 (3.1%) back, some helping OzB but should turnaround before August. Check for StartHere in the forum.

    • Don't count on money back. Last dell purchase got refused for no good reason.

  • What is a good size monitor to buy? Are there any general rules/tips?
I'm getting a new desk and PC and will be fairly close to the screen

    • 24" is more than enough IMO, especially if you are going to be close to the screen. On top of that, the 16:10 ration on these are beautiful. I cannot stress how much I love screen space. Really just try this out, as other have said, you will NOT be disappoint.

  • Has anyone out there run into problems hooking up a macbook - mines a macbook pro 8.3?

  • The Ultrasharp lineup are VERY good. I have a u2311h and it's the best monitor I've ever had. Undoubtedly the U2312M would be even better, although I think 1080p is good enough for me.

  • I bought a few of the Dell U2311H IPS monitors a number of months ago. I still have one that is unopened and not needed. I'm located in Perth so if anyone want it, PM me with a reasonable offer and it's yours.

  • DAMNNNN!!!! I bought one of these recently…should've waited

  • Is it just me or is the link not working?
I see a page that says "The product you have selected is not currently available for online purchase in the segment you have selected."

  • I bought a IPS LED AOC 23'' razor-x i2353Ph for $160. Great monitor (these were Ex demo). But brand new you can get them for about $190. Great price for quality.

    • oops

  • Going to get another one tomorrow, because i can.

  • Anyone use this with a Mac? How is it?

Also is the silver version available in Aus? Cheers

  • Does anyone who already has one of these know if these can be set to display black bars on the sides if you aren't running full 1920X1200 resolution?

My old Ultrasharp can't and my stupid Radeon videocard greys out the driver option that should allow me to. As such if I run games at less than full resolution its stretched and I just don't have the video grunt to drive games at full resolution.

I know some of the LG monitors do but I like my Ultrasharpe but no point upgrading if I have the same problem..(when I searched on Dell site got HTML manual and doesn't look like it will do it)

    • Short answer: no, you cannot do the "black bars" thing. Disappointing.

      While I'm here, have a mini-review:

I got two of these monitors in last year's sale around Aug/Sep.

      Pros:
      - As some have mentioned, technically e-IPS panels aren't as good as "proper" IPS but for my (and most people's) purposes it's still very good; better than almost any non-IPS screen. Also: good luck finding a true 24" IPS with this res at this price.
      - Nice stand, lightweight, decent build quality etc
      - DisplayPort is good if you happen to be running an AMD card and want to Eyefinity
      - Fairly thin, unobtrusive bezels (again, good for Eyefinity)
      - 1920x1200 is a great resolution just for desktop space etc. (Slightly less great for the multitude of stuff that is geared around the ubiquitous 1080p)

      Cons:
      - No HDMI (I think because this is marketed more a 'business' than a 'home' monitor, but still disappointing)
      - NO 1:1 PIXEL OPTION - like you, I find this disappointing. Could easily have been an option in the settings, but noooo. No "keep aspect ratio" either, which is the real killer. Usually you can manage this in your video card driver settings, but there are cases when you cannot and it is very annoying.
      - A weird one: these specific monitors interfere with my tv reception. Note that I am in a very marginal reception area that is quite susceptible to interference, and a friend bought one of these same monitors at the same time as me and has no such problems. I haven't gotten around to actually measuring the radiation but I've never had this issue with previous monitors. Have been too lazy to contact Dell and ask them about it.

Overall I'm very happy with my two U2412M units and I can recommend them for most circumstances, but be aware of the cons I've mentioned. Any further questions, ask away.

      [edit: added "with this res"]

      • with the no 1:1 pixel option, does that mean games/full screen apps that don't support 16:10 will get stretched out? I'm thinking of buying one, but would hold off if this was the case.
