How does this compare to Asus AC68U?

  • Would this one work with TPG FTTB? Thanks

Not by itself. You'll have to plug the Asus into the VDSL2 modem you use now.

      • That would be ok. I just need to improve strength and reliability of the WiFi. Do you have any set up guide to connect it?

          1. Ethernet cable from the VDSL2 modem LAN to RT-AX58U WAN port.
          2. Open a browser, login to the VDSL2 modem and enable bridge mode.
  • Same price on Amazon if you don’t have a Bing Lee nearby https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B084CH5VCM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_g…

  • I can't justify how those router are so expensive compare to a very basic one that we buy from ISPs, which is around 60-90. Maybe only if you have too many wireless devices, plex server, etc….need a good processor, or strong signal

They are better speced for a start. More powerful processors and feature sets.

I think they are a waste of time and would always go a mesh system or access points with dedicated router, switch etc but for many central access works fine still.

      • access points with dedicated router - is it possible to keep the same WiFi network when doing this?

just got the TUF-AX3000 and thinking to get another router such as the RT-AX58U for AiMesh

Some things that are better on non ISP routers are the following.

Faster CPU, Ethernet and Wi-Fi speeds.
      More RAM.
      Better Wi-Fi range.
      Wi-Fi 6.
      Dual WAN.
      VPN client/server.
      DDNS.
      Traffic analyzer.
      Parental controls.

  • Would it work with iiNet NBN HFC?

    • Asus is compatible with all ISPs. Make sure you enable VLAN ID of 2 in the RT-AX58U settings.

        Thanks Twix👍

  • Anyone can recommend between this one and Xiaomi ax3600?

  • I just got the TUF-AX3000 version and have iiNet FTTB.
Any special settings I need to enable/disable?
The ASUS’s WAN port is connected to a LAN port on the TP-Link modem from iiNet.
