Current Omicron situation probably deserves a wait and watch. India seems to be acting fast and closing borders to avoid repeat of what happened with delta.

Indeed as with all countries. However, I have friends and ex-colleagues who need to get over there at present - there's always someone that needs to travel and may as well make use of the Qantas prices (and direct flights in some cases).

      • Sounds like your ex colleague really wants to test the vaccines effectiveness

      • Would have jumped onto some of your recent deals but.. thanks for posting anyway!

    • Can say that about any country tbh

Except Australia where we’re stupidly deciding the pandemic is suddenly over despite everything pointing to the opposite.

        • I think it's more of a 'forcing antivaxxers hands' move than anything else

Hopefully in a couple of weeks we'll know more about omicron. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if it has been spreading for a while now and we're only seeing huge cases because we're testing for it. Current data indicates it's more infectious but less deadly, a common trend for viruses, which could actually be a GOOD thing and you would might actually want it to spread.

Yes, was reading the first report from SA that came out on the weekend, initially showing more spreading but less severe. I gather still no recorded deaths from it too, so fingers crossed.

  • Thanks OP, is this one way or return flight? Pls mention in the title.

    • I swear it was in there originally - it is in the actual post text. Anyway, thanks, updated.

  • good to see fares going back to normal

  • If lockdowns happen on either end, and international flights get banned, would the tickets be refunded?

    • Note each link is a search, and different companies offer different prices that appear in the results. So it'd depend on each of their own policies.

From experience it's pretty common to receive credit, even from airlines directly, but you'd want to check their T&Cs specifically. Also worth having travel insurance, obviously.

  • $1175 for Sydney to Delhi in June 2022 - funny how this is a deal when return flights around that time can be had for under $1K (and often around $800-$900) as no one wants to travel there due to the searing heat and then rains. But it's a great way to pocket everyone's money now to push up your financial earning results by getting some suckers to buy now and regret later 😉

    • Definitely - eg Thai Airways, Malaysian have cheaper flights. However they aren't direct, as some of these are, and not everyone goes for the cheapest or we'd all be flying RyanAir, Jetstar, and Scoot.

Saying that, when Bonza launches…. ;)
