If you are negging because of personal preference you don't get the voting system.

    • If you don't pay for anti-virus then live with it

If people neg this comment they obviously haven't done any research into AV.

Windows 10 comes a free AV that performs just as a good/if not better as any other AV.

ESET internet security might be worth paying for since it offers advanced threat protection/epp/edr. Defender ATP only comes with enterprise versions of Windows 10.

      • Agree. ESET internet security is useful. I think its firewall is better than other Internet Security. It's easy to use and don't need much user's knowledge. Of course, it is not as powerful as other firewall for server but it is useful enough for end user.

Virus works diffrently nowadays. Before they usually targeted and tried too destroy the target but now they try to hide in the targets and use the target to do their work such as crypto, network attacks, steal information… They try to make them self a genuine software to avoid user, anti-virus software. You might wonder why your internet connection is slow or your computer is slow

        • "You might wonder why your internet connection is slow or your computer is slow"

Then you realise it's the anti virus slowing everything down.

          • @onlinepred: Even though it makes your PC slower but I think it is worth it. If you want more performance, switch it to game mode

@BTB: I just be careful, check links, don’t do stupid stuff, don’t install many apps at all etc. basic precautions if possible and if knowledgeable enough will protect against 99% of threats, tied with windows defender.

But for sure, if you downloads lots of illegal things, torrents, warez etc, browse dodgy sites, install cracked games etc, then yea you need all the protection you can get!

Unless you're running Windows, in which case you need one.

And if you've ever played with obfuscating RAT's and relying on a Heuristics engine to catch the hidden executable?
You quickly realise how much more advanved BitDefender and ESET really are.

If you think that Windows Defender; Oh sorry, Sybari; no wait, they didnt make their own, who did they licence their engine from, ah Computer Associates, yep…
Is as advanced an engine as dedicated security firms, you're either not playing with the right viruses, or your testing methodology needs reconsidering.

I was specific about the Windows 10. Mac also have a built in AV is also quite comparable as well.

So I'm not sure if you're joking, but ESET and BitDefender are a laughing stock when compared to "dedicated security firms". I agree that Microsoft is still terrible and has a long way to go but its basic blocking capabilities are adequate.

        • No anti-virus 100% protects you. It is about how you use it as well. For example, if you try to download a simple file on the internet from a big, well known server, it will not 100% sure that file is clean. I might have a virus inside. So always check the file before and after you download it with https://www.virustotal.com/

  • Huh was this unpublished sockpuppeting or not

  • I already know with prime is free but for non-prime people like me why would we pay 6$ for shipping when they can simply email the code?! Pass…defeats the low price!

I didn't neg the deal , deal is nice , negged just because of dodgy shipping fee!

Don't buy AV if you have Windows 10, it comes a free AV that performs just as a good/if not better as any other AV.

Does anyone know by when do we have to activate the ESET Internet Security - 3 Devices 1 Year Electronic license?

    • +2

No expiry date on the license. So I don't think it will expire anytime soon but better do it in 1 year

      • @BTB, Thank you Very Much for your reply 👍

      • My key expired after 6 months, I wasn't very impressed about that. Eset basically told me to F off and I couldn't be bothered to follow up with HT tech to get a refund of $7…

    • Q: I don't need to renew my licence for another 4 months. Does this have a time limit to use or an expiry date?
A: It has an expiry, 12 months from date of activation.
