For the usual questions. This works perfectly with 18v batteries. Exactly the same as the version we get here, just different sticker in the side.

  • These things are great. They will eat your battery.

  • these are awesome tools. Great price.

  • silly question, I'm not going to change to deWalt system any time soon, but I have a lot of Ozito batteries, is there any adapter/hack that I can use this tool with Oziti batteries

    • eBay or Aliexpress will be the best place to search, probably you will find one there

There are cheap $20 adapters to mix and match between Dewalt, Makita, and Milwaukee, but I haven't seen commercially made Ozito adapters…

I've seen home-made 3D printed Ozito adapters on ebay but they were around $50, not really worth it IMO…

Ozito batteries are just "Einhell" batteries. There are plenty of Einhell -> Dewalt adapters if you just look.

  • any discount on DEWALT garden tools?

  • Get price beat at Bunnings using Melbourne Tool Sales price

I don't think Bunnings will price match/beat as the serial numbers may be different from the US 20v Vs. our 18v.
For Bunnings to match, they have to be the same model. That's why they have their own packs made up compared to other businesses.
Eg, Bunning may have the same tools, but might have 2×4ah and a tool bag instead of having 2×6ah flexvolt batteries. Since the packs are different, they have different serial numbers and don't have to price match.
This is not the case in ALL packs, but they do differ from time to time

  • How does this compare to a Ryobi for $50 less?

    • DeWalt is recommended for professionals and Ryobi for hobbyists. Also depends on which ecosystem you are in. This is bare tool and will require purchase of battery if you don’t have any. I believe it will be same for Ryobi.

      • DeWalt is recommended for professionals and Ryobi for hobbyists

But what does that actually mean though? Better quality tool? Better warranty?

        • IMO… You buy into Dewalt, Makita, or Milwalkee if you're buying "tools for life", they're all reasonably robust, you're not likely to kill them with home-use, and they're so popular the batteries will be available forever…

The cheaper brands tend to be for more lighter use and they seem to change their battery design every few years which seems to be a form of forced obsolescence… I wonder how available the current Ozito and Ryobi design batteries will be in a decade?

        • Ryobi has a 6 year warranty with Bunnings and I'd imagine Dewalt is 2 with amazon?

        • Tools are better quality and well designed for comfort use and precision. Warranty I guess Ryobi is straight replacement in Bunnings whereas for DeWalt it is repair warranty.

    • Do you have a link to the Ryobi model?

Is it this one - https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-multitool-skin-onl…

What would be a good battery to pair with the unit? (I know it is a 'how long is a piece of string question')…

fattest one you can afford. the bigger the battery, the bigger the grunt.

  • Likely US charger for 110V and therefore will need to mod to make it compatible with Au socket. https://youtu.be/rc5ieIGUYBo shows how using caps and resistors.

ignore, it's tool only. no charger.

  • Down to $180 now and 6% cash back with CR

    • It is now $178.92, down to $168.18 with 6% cash back from CR, can't resist this price, bought as a Xmas gift for myself, even I don't quite need this tool:-)

      • That's coming from US tho.
When I posted at $180 it was from Amazon AU

    • +2

I didn't receive the 6% with CR as "I'm sorry to say that store declined your purchase as it is categorised under "Home Improvement" which has 0% cashback rate." So this is not categorised as "Tool"! A bit disappointing but still good price…………maybe the CR cashback rate only applies to Amazon AU store?

      • Hmm you’re right, mine also was declined :(
Agreed it’s still a good price, mine arrived today but yet to test it out.

I submitted a ticket because according to CR the 6% Tool cash back applies to “ Power Tools, Tool Organizers, Hand Tools, Air Tools & Compressors
Exclusions: Gardening Hand Tools, Outdoor & Lawn Tools, Hardware Fixtures, Electrical, Lighting, Ceiling Fans, Hardware “

Every power tool is under the Home improvement category. So a bit contradictory

        • Surprisingly to know AU store also get declined. I submitted a ticket, too, and that quoted comment was what they replied. I guess the store has the final right of interpretation. The first time my CR get declined.

  • Dropped even further to $176.73 with 12% CB incoming.

  • A$161.23 now. Wow.

    • Just noticed. Works out to be about the same as yesterday with the CB I guess. Still annoying somehow :P
