I'm on the live chat and the person reckons the promotion is only valid for people in the UK. They're useless.

    • When that happens it's best to just reopen the session until you find someone who knows what they're doing.

  • +1

My Prime's up in Feb. Will switch to monthly and back to yearly to do it I think.

    • -2

Or sign up with a new email?

  • +1

I can see the offer when I open the revolut app and check notifications in the top right

  • +5

I just did this for Amazon Prime. It got declined because Revolut froze my card due to suspicious activity. Amazon then took the payment from my regular card. Good job guys!

    • Same for me, how ridiculous.

    • +1

same thing happened to me, this is sounding like a sham to me, I've had several deals fall through ever since signing up (including the recent $60 sign up bonus which was not given)

    • Same happened to me just now, I didn't read the comments here until now.

      • Were you able to get it fixed via chat?

  • I signed up for Revolut a while ago but my card never arrived :(

    • +1

Try asking support to resend. In the meantime you can use a virtual card!

    • +1

This promotion is unavailable with the physical card, it's only for the main digital card which is available to use in the app.

  • I currently have Prime 3 month free membership from Mastercard promo, expires in Feb 2022.
If I subscribe for yearly subscription and pay using Revolut now, will my Prime subscription then expire in Feb 2023, or will it be Dec 2022?

    Anyone knows?

    • It will be scheduled to start after the promotion ends unless you speak with Amazon chat support about starting straight away.

  • +2

Thanks OP. I cannot figure out what I would use this revolut card for other than these types of promotions!

  • +6

What a joke my card got frozen and it charged another card on file for Amazon.

    • +1

Ditto, except I made sure my other card had no funds before doing this because I've had similar crap like this happen in the past. Amazon activated my prime but says payment is pending. I expect I'll get an email soon telling me I need to pay it at which point I'll direct it to the Revolut card again (now unfrozen)

      • I had to cancel my subscription with Amazon and create a new virtual card in Revolut to get it working.

    • +2

It happend to me too. I had to go to chat and ask them to cancel and refund to my other card. I had to unfreeze and charge again.. It finally worked, but lots of work..

    • That’s at least 3 people it has happened to!

      • mine got frozen as well….oh well, at-least now I don't need to bother about tracking the refund while I think about ways to spend the $60 I loaded on this card as I don't use it often

    • +2

Happened to me, I got a refund without having to speak to anyone as you can cancel membership the day it starts for full refund, then on second attempt after selecting legit payment it charged the Revolut. Not a great experience to ever have me consider using it as a real card.

      • +2

nice I did just this…there are many steps to cancellation, so if anybody tries this method, don't worry. It will clearly tell you whether you want a refund and cancel immediately or cancel next year…Notice if it offers you full refund, if yes proceed, else you may have to chat to customer support

      • +1

This happened to me as well, and I did the same thing cancelling for a refund and then signing up again after unfreezing the card in the Revolut app.

Bloody useless to offer a promo for Prime and then freak out on Prime transactions.

  • Oh I actually got it.

  • When does the promotion end? And does the cashback happen automatically?

    • Promotion ends 31 January 2022, so get in quick! Cashback will be paid after the promotion ends.

      • Thanks, is this targetted? Because I couldn't see this cashback offer on the app

        • Is targeted. Look at your notification tab and if you see it your apart of the promotion.

  • +1

Would takes ages to receive credit back, like their restaurant 10% back, haven't gotten anything back from that yet

    • +3

Promotion ends 31 January 2022, so get in quick! Cashback will be paid after the promotion ends.

  • I am the unlucky one. My prime membership is set to renew on 4th Feb. , ie. just 4 days after this promo expires. :(

    • +1

You can cancel it anytime and get a refund for unused time.

      • I tried to ask on the Amazon chat and I was simply told that there will be no refund. Just planning to still cancel without refund at the end of Jan.

        • I would give another Amazon rep a go, they often have little training and say they can't do something that they don't know how to. I have had a rep say they can't, then the next say they can a few times for things.

  • Will this offer be available for new sign ups?
I signed up but cannot see in the rewards. Could it still work if I didn’t get it?

    • +1

To answer my own question… I chat with a customer service agent and they confirmed that I was eligible for this promo.

  • +1

Just used it today as my Amazon Prime ended, Revolut blocked the payment and froze my card as suspicous which is unusual as it should be able to recognise Amazon, which meant that Amazon charged another card automatically (no way to turn off). I then had to get a refund issued and cancel the sub from today.

After sekecting in the Revolut app that it was legit and unlocking card, the second attempt went thru, I got the promotion advertised to me in the app and it says it will be paid back at the conclusion of the promotional period which is 5+ weeks away. If they don't pay I don't think I will be able to go to Ombudsman as per normal as I doubt they are an Australian bank.

Amazon now charges a fee for Visa payments in Australia which Revolut is, but it appears that they do not charge extra for subscriptions as I was only charged the A$59, which is what I expected as they didn't mention any extra charges for the sub.

Will update when $20 rebate comes thru.

    • Same scenario with card payment declined, like many others.
Also Revolut is a Visa Debit so Amazon surcharge does not apply.

  • +7

There is a way to turn off 'back up payment' on Amazon. Might be helpful for some.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=U…

    • Great suggestion!

    • Thanks.

  • Does anyone know if Revolut consider credit card top up as a cash advance?

    • +3

      Totally depends on your bank.

    • -1

Yes it's cash advance. I paid my price not knowing this when I used my CBA credit card to top up Revolut acc. It's not up to your bank, it's hidden somewhere in Rebolut terms and conditions that using credit card will be deemed as cash advance. Quite annoying that they don't mention this & make it so easy to link our credit cards.

      • +2

It really depends, my buddy used his ANZ credit card and it was treated as a standard purchase.

  • I might try it on a small purchase just to test. Thanks.

  • Is it possible to withdraw money from Revolut?

  • -1

Its sham/scam, on one hand they do promotion for cashback on Amaon , neflix membership & on other hand they block payment on "Vitrual Card".

  • Does anyone know how does the Amazon refund work? If I use prime for 4 months, do I get back 2/3 of the amount paid for prime membership?

  • +1

Revolut are useless. Payments by credit card treated like cash advance, referral bonus not honoured, impossible to close account. Fair enough there is no fee to keep it but conditions may change in future.

    • +1

      referral bonus not honoured

Don't forget to add the following to the bucket list above:
      - Not paying out reward from past promotions whose eligibility criteria were met.

  • Card verified by Amazon initially, got charged for prime today, Revolut declined the transaction (supposedly wrong expiry date - double checked and date is correct, anyhow an initial verification was done on the card and succeeded!).

  • +1

Paid $25 for Kayo last year, never got the $20

  • +1

Update: I made the full payment of $59 for a year of Prime within the timeframe, I recieved a Cashback amount of +AU$8.85 on the 13th Jan.
I have contacted Revolut about this, either I should have gotten 20 AUD or nothing, which the person agreed and is following up on it.
It looks like they are trying to get away with providing less than advertised in the hopes they keep the difference from those who don't complain, very disappointing behaviour and good reason to avoid using the service outside of promotion. I will update if/when I get the remaining AU$11.15.

    • +2

… will be paid after the promotion ends …

      From the T&C …
The Promotion starts on 13 December 2021 12:00am GMT and ends on 31 January 2022 11:59pm GMT (the “Promotion Period”).

      • +1

Which begs the question why pay a small amount earlier than what is stipulated within the T&Cs, and thus leave the customer unsatisfied?

        • I can only assume it's not related to this promotion.

          • @TheSnyper: I didn't do anything else with this account and they confirmed the $8.85 was for this promotion, I paid $59 in one payment, they tried to pull a fast one and then support manually added the excess $11.15.

    • +1

Update: They paid the other AU$11.15 after a few days of being transferred between people in the chat support, definitely too much work getting the full AU$20 including the rejected payment approval etc.
Will not be participating in Revolut offers in the future unless they are very good.

  • +1

    Updating with my experiences.

    Pre-renewal date:
    *Disabled backup payment https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=U…
*Added Revolut Digital (not disposable, not physical)
    *Preauthorisation from Amazon Successful

    On renewal date:
    *Amazon attempted to renew $59
    *Revolut froze card
    *I unfroze card
*Amazon Prime membership seemed to be sitting in limbo saying "In progress"
*I cancelled the Prime membership (selected full refund even though the payment was declined)
*Started new membership $59 and was successful

Now to wait and see if the promotion actually works.

  • I was thinking of trying this with a $30 Amazon gift card, and then charging the rest ($29) to Revolut… only needs $20 to be valid doesn't it?
What are my odds of this working?

    • 0%
The description of the charge to your card (for the membership) contains "Amznprimeau Membership"

      • Sorry, maybe I didn't explain it properly.

I meant buying the annual Prime membership partially with a $30 Amazon gift card (that I already have), and with the remainder ($29) charged to the Revolut card? Then get the $20 back?

        • +1

You can't buy prime with gift cards, only with debit/credit card (maybe something else too, but definitely not gift cards).

          • @johnmelb: ahh, damn.. that would definitely not work then, thanks!

  • I got $2.70 back on an $18 Binge subscription.

    Dodgy.

    Contacting support now.

  • Muppets. I signed up for Amazon Prime for a year using a Revolut card a month ago.

Yesterday Amazon attempt to charge my Revolut card for $60, Revolut blocks the transaction as fraud and notify me. I instantly unblock and say allow, but too late, Amazon has charged my backup Amex, sigh.

I contact Revolut to tell them what happened, they refused to credit the $20 as good will.

    • +1

go to amazon, cancel your prime, amazon will ask immediately or in 1y time (choose immediately).
Amazon issues a refund, sign up again for prime with revolut (optionally go to settings and disable backup payments).
      See here too.

      • Thanks legend for all your help. I had similar issue, there seems to be something fishy with how revolut allowed 6.99 payment but stopped $59 transaction. I did exactly like you said and finally managed to get through. Hope we get the cashback, if not then everyone should boycott revolut. They are dodgy as hell. Fingers crossed

        • No worries.
Oh, $6.99, did you try signing up for a year again?
$6.99 sounds like you signed up for monthly Amazon sub.
Pretty dodgy from revolut to promote something, but then block all transactions from that provider, even after successfully doing authorisation charge.

  • -1

Downvoted due to my experience. I'll keep you posted with my cashback.

  • I paid $22.99 for Netflix on Jan 9 using a virtual card. Let's see if I get the cash back in a couple of days.

I originally tried to pay for YouTube Premium with it, but Google was giving me grief telling me to verify the card over and over again.

  • Have most of you already got $20 back? I paid $59 for prime on 24th Dec. haven’t got any thing back yet.

  • Paid $59 amazon prime on 20th Jan 2022.
    No cash back yet.

  • Nothing yet. For https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/669139 got it on the 6th business day after the end of the promotion ended, so will likely wait a week before i contact them

  • Still waiting for mine, subscribed for Binge. Has anyone received their cash back?

    • Nope haven't received anything yet … but will see if I can contact customer service to chase up

      • +1

Just tried to contact support, went through two reps saying it's end of their shift shortly after starting the chat. Pretty poor support also a good reason I don't use them for any serious banking

    • +1

      Promotion Period
The Promotion starts on 13 December 2021 12:00am GMT and ends on 31 January 2022 11:59pm GMT (the “Promotion Period”).

When will I receive my cashback?
RPA will credit the cashback amounts into your Revolut Account within ten (10) business days after the end of the Promotion Period.

Technically they still have time to pay until +-14 Feb..

  • Just checked, I got $8.85 back for a $59 prime subscription. Very dodgy indeed.

    • +1

Yeah, I just realised it says "up to". Probably 15% back, up to $20.

So I'll get like $3.45 back for my $22.99 Netflix payment lol, if I get anything. Nothing there yet.

It doesn't say anything about 15% here https://www.revolut.com/en-AU/legal/promotions-terms though.

Under the Promotion, you will receive the value of the Eligible Purchase back from us as a cashback reward, up to a total of $20. This means that if the value of the Eligible Purchase is less than $20, you will receive that lesser amount in cashback, and if the subscription is more than $20, your cashback will be capped at $20.

      • From the T&C's it's 100% up to $20.

Under the Promotion, you will receive the value of the Eligible Purchase back from us as a cashback reward, up to a total of $20. I didn't receive anything yet, will have to wait another week before I can complain though

        • Yeah, I pasted that in my comment :)

It says we'd get paid within 10 days of the promo ending, so we'll see

    • Update: Support confirmed the cashback was actually 15%, which, like everyone mentioned, was not part of the T&C.

  • +2

Very frustrating, no refund as yet.
Contacted support who had no idea what I was talking about, I sent them the link with the promotion details and support said they will contact the relevant department and get back to me.
Not a great experience with Revolut.

    • +1

Technically they have until +-14 Feb to pay out
      But support isn't really helpful.
I've heard even worse stories (money not arriving in account after transfer, then revolut refusing to credit without proof of identity of the sender and also not refunding the sender).

      • Yes that's what they have come back and advised,I shall wait

    • I highly doubt I'll be using them for any large transfers, shame as I do like the virtual and disposable cards

  • +4

Here's a screenshot of the T&C if anybody is going to need to use it.

    https://imgur.com/a/j4tlhXQ

  • Anyone got $20 from Amazon Prime purchase? I have really bad experience with them this time. So annoying. I wouldn't use them ever again. Shit company.

    • You should wait until Monday to be fair. You can't fault them yet for not paying out this promo.
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11728850/redir

      • Let's see. Normally this should be paid out earlier from my experiences from other companies. I don't think they will pay, hope I am wrong. : )
