If I travel overseas with this sim, and don’t add the $5/day roaming pack then will I be able to receive SMS on this sim without any charges?

  • +1

It should go without saying that you should check your coverage before jumping onto Voda. Hasn't always been the best out of metro…

    • VoLTE and VoWifi helps

      • Volte won't help if you have a poor / spotty 4G signal. Volte is mainly to maximise call quality.

        • Only if connected to a wifi network, then should help.

  • Does anyone know if you can use an expired Passport as ID when signing up for/activating this? PP expired earlier in the year and there's been no point renewing.

Also, can you register/activate for children who are 13?

    • +2

just buy the service under your name and ID instead of the kids cause I think you need to be over 18 to have your own service anyway. Second Thought, you can probably get away with using their Medicare Card maybe

Can Woolworths giftcards be used to purchase the SIM pack?

    • Haha sounds like you're thinking what I'm thinking. Using the Woolworths Rewards to pay for it?

      • +1

I want to use a combo of Woolworths Rewards and eGiftcards to pay for it. Not sure if it will work though.

        • Unfortunately, most likely it is an "item not allowed" (to be paid by eGC).

It happened to me when tried to buy the Belong SP.

    • I tried but the helpdesk refused. Could pay with me GC though.

  • If I run out of data can I still make and recieve calls and texts?

    • +3

I've never heard of a pre-paid plan that disables calls and texts once data allowance is exhausted…is this something you have experienced elsewhere?

  • Can we use data pooling with this SIM? For example, I currently can gift data to my other vodafone number (family data sharing)

  • Oh no.
    Too late for me.
    I just bought this one.

    "Coles Mobile 365 Day Plan 60GB $95"

  • Boost is better if you don't need any restrictions to international calls. You can easily find $200 sim deals for $150-160. Will give you massive number of international calls and texts.
    Like this deal

    • True…although I used international calls a total of zero times over the last 2 years I've been with Boost! :)

I'm actually just about to switch to this Vodafone plan for a year, and try 5G out (I have a 5G phone). But I will probably switch back to Boost next year! (or earlier, depending how this experiment goes!) :)

  • Do you have to be new vodafone customer of this? Was a postpaid customer with them a few years ago

    • Not at all. I'm sure they'd be happy to have you back as a prepaid customer

  • If I run out of chocolate milk, can I use this service to order more?

    s/
    seriously, this thread, wow!

    • +1

      wow!!!!!!

    • +2

Unlimited calls and text, so as long as your milk bar takes phone orders, you're good to go! :)

      • thanks

  • Does Vodafone still have god awful sound quality when you call people on Telstra?

    • I've never experienced a problem on mine.

  • i need a data sim for my ipad , can someone please suggest a cheaper option. thanks

    • +1

Depends how much you need? Catch connect are doing 85gb 1 year for $89 atm. Or just get the 80gb 6 months lebara from woolies this week at $50. How much data do you actually need?
Otherwise just get one of those kogan 3 months offers and keep swapping. (I think it's 3 months for $15)

      • thanks for your reply

  • How is the data allocated? Is it 12.5GB per month limit x12 months? Or total 150GB and if you run out of it early then you have no additional data?

    • I would say all together, as it says 150gb. Rep can confirm though

  • in-store only?

  • Just went in to Morningside store and they didn't have any. Their stock tracker wasn't showing if stores had any or not either. Will have to phone around

  • Picked up the sim, but the packaging says nothing about 150gb data. Just $250 prepaid SIM, Vodafone starter pack. Did I pick up the correct one?

  • +3

Officeworks just reduced price for their Vodafone $250 Prepaid Starter Pack (200GB) to $125.

    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/vodafone-2…

    • That's a different deal.

      "SIM is 4G capable"

      This one is 5g compatible.

      • It should have access to 5G, that is the old description from OfficeWork

    • +1

      Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! :'(

Since both are '$250' sims, how would Vodafone know where I bought mine from? Is it in the activation code? So I can't ask Voda to get me 200gigs of data instead?

      • +1

Has anyone activated the Woolies SIM and received 200GB data?

    • That didn't last long, now $250- reduced to $200-. Description now says 5G connectivity.

edit: Guess that's because the woolies deal ended.

  • Does the monthly 10% off if you're on WW mobile work?

    • Nope, just checked.

  • Can anyone comment on the ease of porting over to Vodafone and perhaps a real quick guide on how to? Assume it also depends on who you’re porting over from. I would be porting from Kogan. Thanks :)
