Lenovo Legion 5 Pro (5800H, RTX 3070 140W, 16" WQXGA IPS 165hz 500nits 100% Srgb, 32GB, 1TB) $2,639.20 Delivered @ Lenovo eBay

LNVODEC20

Looks to be same model as https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/643288 which I bought from. The 32GB RAM that mine came with was the decent faster timings, so no need to upgrade. I assume this model will be the same, but don't hold me to that.
Only difference being it is Windows 11. Ensure to go to https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/socket-fp5-mobile/am… and update the drivers to ensure there are no performance issues with Windows 11.
Arguably the best 3070 laptop on the market right now.

      RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6 [60W]

      AHAHAHAHAHAHA

    • +2

Err it's nice and slim but 60 watts on the 3060 gpu is nothing compared to 140 watts 3070 so different target audience

    • +1

Yeah as others have hinted .. I think the Legion would smash that Dell.

  • +1

Great deal. I went Legion 7 3080 is claiming back price through work but negligible benefit and not worth the major premium.

This L5P is an absolute monster machine

    • 3080m this gen is really a shame because for one its cut from desktop 3070 die just like the 3070m, and two that you are restricted to 150w (+15wdB) max power draw while last gen cards are allowed for up to 200w power draw. Its certainly not the cooling have gone down across laptop vendors, just that nvidia happened to arbitary limited them to 150+15w for god knows why.

    • Damn did you see Lenovo store. $3999 for the Legion 7 3080. And that's with $1000 off

  • I'm glad I bought the 1k model, I mean even if I didn't own a PS5 I would still be 1k up

    Everyone has different needs!

Just sucks GPUs are so expensive these days because of mining.

  • Can any reps from cashback or shopback enter the chat and offer some cashback??? Haha

  • Hey guys! This Deal or the Blade 14 at roughly the same price at 2686
    at https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/363489680530 with Ebay Plus?

    • +1

      Do you need portability-blade 14

      Do you need raw performance-L5p

Do you have time-wait for CES2022 annoucements

    • +2

The Legion's 16:10 screen was the clincher for me.. Super bright and super sharp
the build quality is also really impressive

I researched pretty much all 3070 based laptops between the $2.5k and $3k range when I was purchasing.. and the legion came out on top fairly easily.
at this price with 32GB ram and 1TB and a full fat 140w 3070 nothing compares

also supports USB C charging with a suitable powerbank

      • I feel like the only downside for the Legion is the portability. Comes with a fat 300 watt adapter and the laptop in itself weighs 2.5kg. Blade weighs in at 1.7kg while packing a punch in terms of perfomance

        • The portability is the only upside of the blade in my eyes..
But that's the choice you have I guess..

    • +1

Haha I thought the same thing and bought both 🤣😭

All I can say is with mucking around with both is yes hands down the blade is soooo nice in the hands "giggity" but that screen 😭 it just looks soooo small against the Legion but they are different class of laptops…

The Legion pro is just so nice when it's on desk. Massive bright screen games run so month

Though the difference in gaming is surprisingly very close! Turned off everything backend updated drivers etc

Less than 10fps between them in Forza 5

I finesse Microsoft to take back the blade and I'm keeping the Legion. If I go somewhere I'll take my switch and game.

That's what really made me swing to Legion 5 pro against the blade

      Hope this helps 👍

      • howd you end up returning the blade to microsoft?

        • Complained about the slower ram switcheroo n my unit comin with around 270 to 300 nits when others have reported 330 to 350 nits.

          They issuing full refund.

But now I'm rethinking again haha blade is quite nice …

          • @agalea101: Yeah :( i ordered mine from Microsoft now im contemplating whether to keep it and get the L5P

            • @keanoobreaves: Yeah feel free to use my excuse too

but man the blade is on another level on how its constructed Vs the L5P

Hardest choice I had to make in a long time

              • +1

@agalea101: I Ended up complaining about The Device having slower soldered Ram and ended up getting 35% back from the device meaning I only paid 1700 for the Blade 3070 haha. So i think I will keep the blade after that!

                • +1

                  @keanoobreaves: Nice!

                  That's a great outcome

Will give it a go too haha thank god I haven't sent it back yet. Too busy

                  I have untill 1st January

    • What if I'm only using for VR which is better?

  • anyone bought from Lenovo Education store portal and use code PLAYON?
It doesnt work for me. do I have to use school account or personal email address?
I used personal email address with school account verified, but doesnt work,…..

    • Which part doesn't work? What price are you getting? I can add it to my cart and use the code to get it for $2,589.

Make sure you are on the lenovo education store portal and you have the highest Legion 5 Pro selected.

This is the student bean link, but you will need a code to get in. I don't have edu email so not sure on the process to access from elsewhere.

      • Legion 5 Pro 16" AMD Storm Grey
        Part Number: 82JQ00R4AU

        is this correct?

        • Yep that's the one. But make sure you are checking the price from edu store

          • @CodeXD: Sorry! eCoupon not found. Try again?
            $3,379.00
            $2,872.15

            :(

            • @nng526: Are you logged onto lenovo edu store? You don't just log in with an edu email on the normal website, it is a different link.

    • +1

If PLAYON doesn't work, try EDUCOMM.

      • +1

I think I am just getting old now, finally I made it, hopefully wont be refunded like officeworks last time.
Buy using this code EDUCOMM, I bring down the price a bit more down to $2,582.10.
Thanks for sharing guys, and thanks for help me out!

    • You can only buy a very specific legion and playing in all caps.

It actually shows you on the store page when PLAYON is applicable EDUCOMM gives more anyway

  • Anyone got correct link for edu store please? cheers

  • It's the best laptop 2021. Powerful

    • 2021 was so last year

  • I have one as well, bought during the Black Friday sale. How can you tell the memory has faster timings?

  • Good for mining ? Thinking to get this and sell my Xbox series X. Thought?

    • +4

If you're going to mine crypto, just get a desktop PC for far better cooling and higher hashrate. Mining on a laptop is just not it.

  • I've had this exact laptop since the original Lenovo Edu offer earlier in the year. It's the finest piece of tech I've ever owned. Gaming is a delight, ethernet it into your router and it'll stream Half Life Alyx wirelessly to a Quest 2.

  • Love the rear port alignment with a couple of side USB ports as well, nice design IMO :)

  • Would appreciate some advice since I'm not very experienced with laptops.

I'm weighing up between this one and https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/671034, was leaning towards the other since the specs look good enough and I'd like to save a bit of money, but is this one so much better that it would be stupid not to upgrade for just a few hundred more?

    • Whats your usecases? The 5i can be plenty enough and while this one is only 'a few hundred dollars extra' it is still ~600 extra that you may not get to use anyways.

      • Moderate gaming, maybe running a few VMs, compiling programs, programming stuff.

You're right that I probably wouldn't need the extra power but I was thinking in terms of QOL things like better screen, build quality + future-proofing.

        • +1

I'd take this one just for the extra ram and screen resolution (the other one is FHD).

VMs chews up ram, and you'll want the 32gb.

        • +1

Your call then I reckon. The build quality on the two machines is basically the same but this one have the better screen and specs of course. However, if more ram is what you are looking for, you can always get 64gb kits for only 334$.

  • How much do people make mining off a laptop like this?

I assume it'd take a whole year to even make 1-1.5k?

    Just curious!

    • The old IT guys at universities made a killing mining in the early days.

Using all the laptops at once

  • I think this is a good model that should last a few years, with only one objection: I am not a big fan of having ports in the back, right next to exhausts

  • really tempted to return my rtx 3060 legion 5 pro to lenovo and just buy this one. Is it worth it?

    • No. Since you already have a l5p 3060, a very well rounded machine for this generation.

If you are going to upgrade, wait at least till next gen releases (which is very soon at CES2022) before making a decision. This model will only have gone down by then if you dont like the new machines.

      • Basically every 12 months, that's tech for you tho

  • I have Lenovo education store discount, but it's probably not worth the savings if there is an estimated 1-2 month long wait when this is listed as in stock. Thoughts?

    • Pretty sure no wait time at moment

  • I got one 1 week ago. Shipped in 2 days

  • I need 16% cashback for Lenovo again pls

  • This or Acer nitro 5 with 3060 @ harvey

    • +1

This unless you're really stuck on price.

    • +1

Bit of a price difference lol

      • still this

        • Hmm I am not sure. I cant still justify 1100 more

          • @Godgodgod: How much more do you notice on a laptop screen? I'm curious tbh

          • @Godgodgod: If you cant, then save 1100 :) unless you still want to go to youtube !

  • Mine got shipped today…

    • Was yours through education?

      • Nope eBay…anyway I saved the difference through ShopBack eBay gift card

    • When did you order it?

      • Yesterday around 2pm

  • Need some advice on choosing. I don't need the laptop for gaming but I do like the hdr screen and slightly bigger size. Same spec laptop but with an inferior gpu is being sold here (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/670823).

My use case is software dev, running VMs and rarely some video editing and no gaming. Is that laptop good value for my use case? By good value I mean if it is overpriced for a 3050ti laptop

    • I wouldn't really say same spec… As you've pointed out :

      • Inferior GPU
      • Less Ram
      • Less SDD

For me personally and my use case the $790.20 difference is justifiable.

  • Is the graphics performance much better than a desktop GTX 1080?

  • Mine just arrived. What a beast!

    • How did it feel when you touchy

      • Very niiiiiice

    • Woooooooooo!
Enjoy one of the best laptops of the year 🥳

      • Thanks for the deal! Ordered from edu store 15th Dec arrived today.

    • Received mine as well. Very fast delivery - ordered on 16th and a surprising weekend delivery on the 19th!

Any recommendations on a second M.2 2TB hard drive?

  • I saw cheapest was $2400 so I wont get it until it comes down in price even if i have to wait until 2030

    Okay so edu about 2589
Less $88 lenovo rewards points i have

Add 9% cash rewards using secret swap around technique with the help of lenovo staff.

    is it worth?

    • Yeah, imma need to know more about this "swap around technique"

      • Pm me as don't want it to be abused

    • CB doesn't work for EDU I believe

  • Gigabyte Aorus 15.6in
    FHD240Hz
    i7-10870H
    RTX3070
    512GB SSD
    32GB RAM W10H Gaming Laptop
    (AORUS 15P XC-8AU2430SH)

Is the system good? I found a bloke willing to take 2k locally, 3 weeks old. It's not for me, I don't game but my mate is looking and this deal is expired.

  • Any idea if more stock of this will arrive on eBay?

Is there stock in the EDU store? I don’t have access but could try and find someone with a .edu email address.

Joined the small business area but no stock there.

    • I have no solid way of knowing when stock would be in next. My best guess would be a couple of months. Going by the fact that it was in stock in early August last year (then OzBargained in a day), then in stock mid December for this deal. So my best guess would be at least a couple of months.
No stock in the EDU store from what I could see.

Could always hit up the Lenovo chat and ask a rep.

    • They are refreshing the Legion 5 pro and will be released March 2022

Google Ces Lenovo Legion 5 pro

  • Thanks for the help. Tried Lenovo chat in the PRO store, no stock there either.

Wish I could wait for a new model but need for work now.

Might have to pay a couple of hundred $ extra and get the Legion 7 version from eBay.

    • Do you need the 3070 graphics card. I think they have stock of ,3050 to but yeah good luck buddy

I have a Lenovo carbon yoga if brand new if you need it haha

      • Was wondering if the 3060 would be enough but might be better to go with the 3070. I do photogrammetry processing (and it will be an office replacement, video & photo editing machine) in many different locations - so it’s a work tool.

        • Ah gotcha. Good luck. I'd try waiting a week or two then pull the trigger if nothing

          • @AussieMark: Will try.
eBay says more than 10 of the more expensive model in stock and the 20% off deal finishes on the 15th. Don’t want to miss out though.
Guessing most people are waiting for the new model, or a further price reduction of existing stock.
