      What gave it away? Sino?

Fun fact, estimated 280million Chinese have hypertension and only 13.8% are under control

      • +31

In Communist China 100% are under control.

The country that threaten democracy in Taiwan + HK and also want to Nuke Australia.

If you buy this product its same thing with fund them to kill you and your family / friends

      • Ok

      • Sorry I’m from China

      • Has it ever occured to you that 80 or 90% of products sold in AU are made in China?

      • I don't mind if a few of my family and friends get killed… I love bargains know than them!!

Read the actual reviews on Amazon regarding this particular model, especially the reviews from Australian buyers. There is a reason why it is being sold/dumped for cheap.

    • +1

Yep. If it's not accurate, its useless. I never understand how people can cheap out on something as important as their health.

  • +6

    Omron is worth it.

    • +3

Can second this. The Omron "Standard" (HEM-7121) for under $100 is all you really need - its the same one my local GP uses. Don't futz about with cheapo brands when it comes to your health.

    • +5

Phew… read it as Omicron. Covid19 has made me crazy.

    • +1

Omron is what my doctor uses, so Omron is what I use.

      • My doctor uses the 'scope the drug rep gave him. And smokes - I'm not about to follow that.

        • +1

Oh to live in a world as simple as you seem to see it.

          • @UFO: Woosh, i think. I wonder why your doctor uses a cheap consumer machine instead of those hospital ones?

            • @bargaino: Interesting take on what I didn't say.

Anyway, pointless discussion I think. Have a good one.

              • @UFO:

take on what I didn't say.

You mean what you said before you edited it to something completely different as I was posting?

                • @bargaino: All I said was "go into a hospital and see what they are using there".

And removed it because I couldn't be bothered.
Explain to me again how your reply has anything to do with that?

Actually never mind… you hooked me into a reply. My mistake.

I bought few of them made there with no brand name/different names. They show inaccurate readings, they failed so many times that finally decided to dump them and never to buy these cheap shits again.

    • My China model seems OK, but then it was $200, not $16.

I have a no-name wrist model, which works OK, but only after I learned exactly how to use it, after comparing to a proper machine. Arm-cuff is safer.

If you really want to be sure, use a stethoscope with arm cuff. And mercury or anaerobic pressure meter.

And of course BP fluctuates constantly, so don't expect 2mm consistency.
      What "accuracy" are you expecting?

  • +1

I own this exact model and it does the job fine. I have compared readings to my mother's Omron and they are always similar.

  • I bought one of these during the last Amazon Prime sale - can't remember how much it was, might've been a bit more.
It does the job and gives consistent readings.
Mind you, it only does a reading. Couldn't get it setup with a 2nd profile - doesn't matter much though as it was cheap.
Edit - yes, it was this model, at the time of purchase they were asking for $40.99, so $32.99 with $17 off is cheap. I can't determine the exact discount I got at the time as there were other items in the same order and Amazon doesn't appear to separate the discounts in the history.

I bought the Aldi brand when it was on special for $15 and later bought a Japanese made Omron, the results are pretty similar but I feel safer with Omron.

    • I thought Omron monitors were mainly made in Vietnam.

Omron do have a factory in China too, btw.

  • Got this.

    Very good monitor.
Talks to you and has a colour display.
