Hey @sky-zemismart, where are the installation manuals for these? For most of your products pages, including this one, clicking the "User Guide" tab/button reveals some static text that reads:

    User Manual Install

But as I said, it's static text. It's not a link to anywhere.

I would like to read the install manual on a few of your products before deciding if/which ones to buy.

    Thanks.

  • Hey OP - this needs a gateway or hub to work with wifi. Which hub is the one needed?

Fah $87?? A lot cheaper on AliExpress

      Link?

      • I just had a quick look and the cheapest one I could see was about 75 AUD shipped if you use the coupon thing listed alongside the price. That's for the battery-powered version without the remote. The battery+remote version, which I think is the same one listed here, seems to be about 80 AUD shipped.

The other listings I saw seem to be the wifi (not zigbee) version, the AC powered version, or don't ship to Australia.

There's also quite a few generic models though I have no idea if any of them are any good.

        Edit: Fixed links.

Thats wifi not zigbee, so not comparing same with same

          • @asa79: The listing includes options for both Zigbee and wifi. "Color: ZigBee No remote".

    • Nope this is a very good price for a zigbee solar unit with a remote

I love these generic zigbee blind drivers, It's been great not having to pull down 4 blinds in the lounge every evening instead having them sync with light turn on.
But I'd get them from aliexpress, prob 65 or so each with coupon.

  • Can anyone recommend ones that don't need a hub?

    • Tuya also seem to make a Wifi version, though I don't know if it's available from this seller. You might be better off checking Aliexpress (use "colour" to select a wifi model).

Let me search that for you…

You want tuya wifi battery operated.

I have a couple from zemismart working with some vertical blinds and they are fantastic. They will rotate the slats or open and close the blinds in whatever state they are in.

They also come with a "6in1" remote. Operates up to 6 motors via rf. And comes with a wifi to rf dongle.

      Works well with home assistant.

The allied express ones are crap unless they are the same model.
Pre-warning of reinventing the wheel as they are not cheap and the return process on AE stores sucks in my experience.

Zemismart service is great, I've purchased a few items from them and they have even been willing to refund on delayed shipments. The only negative thing about zemismart is they use a chinese customs logistics called PFL Logistics which get a bad wrap (probably because they are almost impossible to get a hold of) but it's because PFL use a POS delivery service called Aramex.

      • Looks to be cheaper on Zemismart than any of the Aliexpress listings too.

@nazyb The ones without a hub are either plugged in full time (so need a powerpoint close by) or use a separate little dongle that needs to be plugged into USB power. The dongle talks to the motor and connects to the wifi.

I have three blinds, so finding spots for the 3 dongles was a pain. The hub is more practical for multiple blinds.

This is the ones I bought:
      https://www.zemismart.com/products/-316

Works off Home Assistant or the Tuya app… or you can use the remote control on the wall. You can see the dongle in the pic.

  • Im currently getting home assistant to control parts of my place. Is the '5 months between charging' accurate? If so, the solar panel option is probably not worth having an extra cable in place. Contimplating going zigbee for these types of devices, sonoff zigbee coordinator USB stick seems like the go from what i read

    • 4-5 months is about right. Unless you open and close your blinds 40 times a day. I have an automation that dims lights, closes blinds wtc when I play a movie on a kodi box in that room. So it's opening and closing up to 3 times a day. Plus when I go to bed and the sunrises.

I never really got the zigbee thing. Heard problems and you have to buy yet another hub/controller and it competes with already cluttered 2.4ghz frequency.

wifi and zwave for IoT 👍🏻

      YMMV

      • Yeah great! So I've got at least 5 blinds I'd want to connect. Don't really want the hub, and a battery operated would be perfect. However my blinds are heavy and long, it would need to roll them all the way up and then down (so twice a day use). Which ones did you get?

        • What blinds type do you have ?

      • Are you able to please share which product you have?

Some of the above comments explain that the wifi versions need to be plugged in full time or have separate dongles which need to be plugged into USB power.

I'm keen to have a wifi version and avoid having an additional hub/controller, but if the wifi version needs to be plugged in at all times..then it's probably a deal-breaker.

        Thanks!

        • read my comment above: "Let me search that for you…"

wifi needs a wifi->rf usb. It's rf (probably 433mhz) so has a pretty good range or you could probably use a sonoff rf/wifi bridge if you dont want 6 separate dongles.

    • I've been using mine for just over a month with daily use of about twice without a charge yet. Works really good with Home Assistant.

  • Hi dear,
It is new zigbee update version blind driver,it is more powerful, can support 10kg blind.no need any usb dongle,it will work with homekit via our homekit hub soon~

  • Received my blind motors but unfortunately they arent supported yet in home assistant via zha or zigbee2mqtt. This new version changed the ID, so wont take long for support I guess
