Great deal on the pro 8 but fyi the Go 3 is not on sale.

    • for some reason nvr any sale on the go 3. I cant imagine its flying off the shelves. and no i3 version available yet

      • You can get education discount on it but I guess MS thinks it's already well priced.

      • It's only been out for 2 months.

The Go 2 didn't go on sale for a while when it was released.

        • Yes but it's been out longer than the Pro 8

  • +4

Thanks, was waiting for a decent deal on the Surface Pro 8, it's a shame the kb and pen isn't on sale too, they are a must.

    • For those with access, TGG Commercial has the Signature Keyboard & Pen 2 (Black) for $325 + Shipping

Needs some sort of indication of price in the title I think.

  • Any of these play games like far cry 6 or cyberpunk decently?

    • +16

Yes, it can play those game at Ultra setting @ 5fps.

    • +3

Yes, if you want it to become an improvised explosive device

    • External graphics card and you sure can. The Surface pro line is quite decent actually, I can run Microsoft Flight Sim X on my Pro 6 with i7 / 16GB / 1TB surprisingly well, and that's with the internal 620gpu. I imagine it'd knock it out of the park running an external gpu with Thunderbolt in the SP8

Have a really bad experience with the quality of surface pro in the past. Be careful that thesw poducts have only a 1 to 2 years life. They are not built to last.

    • +1

      What happened to yours?

    • I have a Surface Book 3, a Surface Pro 8 and Laptop 4 in my family and never had a single issue.
My workplace also issues Surface Laptops (15") for all staff work computers and IT love their reliability and now their repairability is great also, which used to be next to impossible.
      What issue did you have?

      • Only speaking for myself, but I had a Surface Pro 4 and the battery lasted 3 years before being useless, it's a good thing they introduced Battery Limit Mode

        • +1

My SP4 battery was still going strong when I bought my SP8

        • I’d say take better care of them mate. We have a split between ms laptops and surface and dell xps. Just about every xps has had issues none of the ms. Except one old dock

    • Had my surface laptop for 3.5yrs, still as good as the day I took it out the box. Wouldn't buy anything else but another to replace it.

    YASSS PRICE PROTECTION CLAIM! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    • Jelly that you have it.. But, well done! Which item btw and how big is the claim?

  • Harvey Norman has deals too - and also advertising a $50 cashback redemption from Intel?

    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/microsoft-surface-pro-8-13-i…

    • Not worth the $50 cashback getting the Intel version.

      • +4

If you want pro8 intel your only choice

        • True, then I will wait for Pro 9.

          • +1

@kml22: The Pro 9 is good but not as good as the Pro 10

      • Why not?

    • Cashback would also eligible from any store really, certain laptops at JB have a banner so i'm sure it would work since the cashback is from intel not JB or Harveys, I'd save giving your money to Gerry if I was you

      • It is select stores only, but JB is definitely part of the promo. Funnily the MS store isnt

Subjective… but why buy one of these instead of a basic M1?

    • +2

Cause the Surface pro 8 is a 2 in 1.
      Touch and pen support.
iPads are pre much the only 2 in 1 from Apple with the addition of a keyboard case, but iPad OS comes nowhere close to utilising the M1 chips compared to the Surface Pro 8 which is basically running full windows.

    • Because Apple devices are garbage

    • +1

Because some people prefer Windows and some people prefer MacOS, that's a good reason :)

    • +1

Only use case is if you really need a 2 in 1 for portability or enjoy windows really.

M1 MBA for $1300 and iPad for $700 will give you a better laptop and tablet experience for the same price. Obviously you are sacrificing portability.

If the SP8 was priced lower it’d be a better choice, but it’s just too expensive imo.

      • +1

People that buy Mac or Surface devices aren't doing it because they have budget constraints, there are plenty of much cheaper options around.
I always buy Surface products even though I know I am paying a premium.
If Mac or Surface products are out of a persons price range they aren't them, these products aren't trying to compete against better value products.

Is the SP4 any good, worth the price?

    • +1

As with any computer, it depends on what you want to use it for.
If it's for standard office type use/applications, want a full OS with touch and pen support on a 2 in 1 that's compact, and you are happy to pay for great build quality on an aesthetically appealing device, then it might be for you.
But if you are on a budget, then you can get better value with other brands.

  • This vs dell xps 9310 2in 1?

    • +1

Who won? Who's next? You decide!

  • For some time I have been looking for replacement for my Samsung Galaxy Book 2018 detachable PC tablet.

I am hoping for non Microsoft brand but waiting for Samsung is going to be forever.

OP deal also includes Surface Laptop 4's. 20% off at JB. Have bought one on Monday at normal price, went into JB yesterday got the difference as a gift card with no dramas.

Didnt know that Microsoft has 43 different surface…

  • Shame JB don't do the 1tb surface

    • Seems like HN and TGG don't either. It's only MS direct :(

      • At least on their website anyway

  • Anyone know if the Keyboard from the SP6 will connect to a SP8, and if the older surface pen (1776) also works with the SP8? Will the old pen also magnetically attach to the side of the SP8 like prior?

  • Have been a long term user of Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book 2. Both are excellent devices. If you are after portability and 2 in 1 experience, Surface Pro is amazing and no need to look further if you into Windows. If you are looking for Macbook Pro equivalent with Windows, Surface Book will meet your needs along with some decent gaming.

Just had someone ring me the other day to see if I had a fix for the MS KB suddenly not being recognized on Surface tabs. Long running issues for years. I recommended Dell XPS (outlet/clearance is good to check).

  • I had Surface Pro 1 from 8 years ago and it is still going sure not using it as the main workstation but it does it's job as a side device, probably one of the most durable electronic device I've ever had so I am curious if they maintained the same quality with the new models?

  • Do all surface go and pro device comes with keyboard?

    • Nope. Keyboard (Typecover) sold separately for both.

      • Thanks, I got the Samsung Tab s7 FE 128gb for $599

        • Where, when, how?
