Its not brand new, battery condition might be horrible, add it to title and post it on gumtree

I doubt you can get an iPhone 8 in good condition for $300 secondhand.

        https://shop.coles.com.au/a/kurralta-park/product/64gb-refur…

You could get it for $279 refurb from Coles…

        • Lots of cases with bad batteries on those and Coles will not take them back.

          • @jv: You're dreaming if you think secondhand batteries on an iPhone 8 will be better

            • @Zackeroo: better than what?

              • @jv: Better than the batteries you'd get on the Coles refurb phone. Refurb could even mean that the previous user had an issue with the battery, so the battery was replaced and now sold as Refurb.

Secondhand on the other hand imk means the phone hasn't had any servicing done on it before being sold. I'd assume they just check whether it works and that's about it. Refurb goes through more checks.

    What's the warranty, OP?

    • Website says 1 year.

      • +1

I should've been clearer - what is the warranty procedure, if something goes wrong within 1 year? Do we mail it somewhere at our cost, then wait until it's repaired? Who repairs them?

Also if you get one with a dud battery, you're out of luck according to the warranty terms on the website (but presumably not according to the ACL?):

        1 Year Warranty

        • The warranty covers any hardware fault found with your item.
        • The warranty begins on the date your item is purchased.
        • Batteries are not covered by warranties as these are classed as consumables.

Pointless comparison. At this point, the vast majority of people will know which ecosystem they want to be in so suggesting an android device instead of a iphone is like suggesting catching the train to Fiji.

      • +4

That would be an awesome train ride

        • Might get a bit trainsea sick

I'm trying to work out how to type "Bula Bula" in a way how it would sound under water. But i can't, so you'll just have to imagine it

It's not a good comparison between new and used, but the A32 is a cheap plasticky piece of crap phone that will drive you bonkers, for 50% more cost.

      • +1

not sure why people try and convert ios to android and android to ios users …..if people own a phone they know what ecosystem they want and are just looking for a deal, not a religious conversion ……

Terrible comparison. I don't believe this specific deal is good, but the iPhone 8 in general destroys the Galaxy A32.

The Galaxy A32 is a budget Samsung phone while the iPhone 8 was a flagship phone back in 2017. The iPhone 8 highlight feature was its ability to do 4K 60FPS recording, proving how powerful the phone really is. The CPU on the iPhone 8 manages 1812 on Geekbench multi-core while the Galaxy A32 gets only ~1,500, once again proving the whole competition between an older flagship phone and a newer budget phone.

Speaking of video quality, the Galaxy A32 can only record in 1080 30FPS at most… Quite terrible for a brand new phone in 2022 (we're almost there).

Those fake sites (smartprix) are terrible for comparisons. It's much easier to compare with actual stats than trusting a website like that.

The only real advantage for the A32 is the much bigger screen size, however there are many people who'd still prefer a smaller screen, hence the existence of the iPhone SE line and the still active 'Mini' line of iPhones.

      • It would be more appropriate comparing this deal to the Poco X3 Pro (8GB/256GB) for about the same money.. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/672943

Sure, it's not a flagship phone and it's more plastic. But I think I'd rather much prefer to have the X3 Pro than a (Second hand) 4-5 year phone. That's regardless of the ecosystem you are in. The X3 Pro doesn't have the best cameras in the world, but pretty sure it will do much more than an iPhone 8.

        • Yup, that's a much better comparison by far.

Only issue here is that the iPhone 8 still wins in the camera department, but other than that the Poco X3 is an easy choice, and would take my pick out of the two (the 120Hz screen is a massive W for the Poco)

  • Can you please clarify this? - in the item description it says

Apple iPhone 8 - 256GB - Space Grey (Unlocked) A1863 (CDMA + GSM) (AU Stock) + Apple Lightning to USB Cable

    but below it says

*Listing is for phone/tablet only, no USB charging cable is provided.

    • Is it MFI, or will it stop working after a few weeks?

      • Hi,

So it comes with a 1-year warranty, the battery is covered in the first 3 months.

        Kind regards

        ManlyLaptops

        • Do you handle the warranty - does it get sent back to you - who's cost ?

        • Um the cable?

    • Hi,

Sorry for the confusion, yes this comes with a USB charging cable

  • Hi,
What is the minimum percentage of battery life that these are sold with?

    • 80%

  • +1

$300 for a 4 year old refurbished phone?

    Wheres the deal?

    • its Iphone, or maybe the RARITY is the deal)

  • The iPhone 8 I recall is the last iPhone with a decent reception. I think it's the last one that was blue tick. +1

  • So would i expect the battery to last a day with medium use?

    • Hi yes

  • I would rather get a new Chinese brand phone
