@WookieMonster: lol my bad, I had the expiry entered incorrectly. no wonder it was getting declined. Still bad news as it now says "Sorry, you have exceeded the maximum quantity of 1 allowed for this product"

            • @polarq: hmm, even after reading your warning comment first - I stupidly logged on and also entered the wrong expiry (without thinking I put the valid thru date instead or expiry date). So now I also got the "Sorry, you have exceeded the maximum quantity of 1 allowed for this product". It is a fairly poor IT implementation when it counts an invalid attempt against a card number as ineligible.

I was wary about this one, but it checks out. Thanks to @denyol above for the link to the Westpac page which lists the deal. @denyol

  • Thanks OP! Got my free $15.

  • $15 richer…, thanks OP and MC

  • Thanks OP! Got $15

  • -1

Damn not eligible I think I'm just using a standard westpac choice debit mastercard for those wondering.

  • Thanks Op got $15

  • Thanks OP! I am sure to use the $15 on something I don't need. lol.

  • +5

$15 received. One thing to make note of for existing members. It can look confusing. They will ask you to create a new card even if you already have one. It does not create a duplicate so don't be worried. Also, it will prompt you to create a new Amazon account, do not, there is another link to sign in if you already have an account. Both those things could throw someone off.

  • Redeemed as well. Thanks OP!

  • +3

Signed up for this with a previous similar deal. As pointed out by many others, I think it's worthwhile mentioning in the OP that there have been issues trying to cancel the prime membership after 3 months with the 'cancel membership' option greyed out on Amazon, and Amazon and Mastercard pointing fingers at each other.

Has anyone managed to actually cancel this before the free trial period ends?

  • +1

Anyone with thoughts how to cancel after 3 months free trial?

  • So, doe the card associate with Amazon account only for trial, and there is no issue like that for existing prime members who receive the $15 gift card?

  • I was able to claim the $15 to my Amazon account, but unable to use it, as it requires a verification code. I have not been sent one. Anyone know how to get it?

  • +2

Bombard them with emails about cancelling. Someone has got to fix it. Ts and Cs say you can cancel in your Amazon account and Amazon says it’s all to do with Mastercard. I’m harassing both parties just because no one says they have the authority to cancel it. Has anyone tried ringing their actual bank to cancel the debit agreement?

  • +1

    Hmmm.
It sounds like this is gonna be like having Gym membership direct debit hell in the new year…

So I called the Mastercard number this afternoon to cancel. They told me they can only help to sign up the offer and I needed to contact Amazon to cancel. They then proceeded to give me an American telephone number for Amazon Customer Service to contact them. After telling them again I was in Australia, they said they could transfer the call to Amazon Support.

Spoke with Amazon who were equally as useless. They kept insisting that there was no Prime subscription on my account. I kept telling them it was my Amazon AU Prime account not the US account. Finally the penny dropped, and they told me they don't have access to Amazon AU and they would send me an email with a link to contact Amazon Customer Service (it's just a generic link to contact them that you can find from the Amazon website).

  • Even better if you have 2 eligible Mastercards.

I guess I will need to set up another Amazon account when I want to start using the second card after 3 months.

  • Wow.. mastercard is giving nice deals… same offer with cba now westpac… not complaining :-P

  • +2

Amazon has changed it to "Contact Amazon" instead of "Contact Mastercard"

This is shown in my account:
    End Membership
Your Prime membership is activated through Mastercard. For any membership billing questions, contact Amazon

  • I already have Amazon Prime membership. Got $15 in the previous MC deal. I am eligible for this deal too and got the link but unable to use the offer on my Amazon account. How else can I redeem this?

    • Yes, I am wondering if anyone has managed to redeem both this offer, and the existing one, to the same amazon account?

  • Hmm so no one able to cancel now? I prefer to cancel now (should retain the membership till 3 months) rather than forget to do it in march 2022

    • we tried with no luck yet, we have a 12months free with AGL so today we tried to cancel the one with mastercard (through CBA).
Mastercard says to contact Amazon, Amazon says to contact MC…
MC said they can do it but need to confirm identity so they will transfer us to CBA…call dropped….we ll try again tomorrow.
Amazon also suggested to cancel the amazon account all together and create a new one with the same email address, though for us doesn't work as it has some cloud backup linked to it too.

      • 12months free with AGL

What is that? I am agl customer too.
Edit. Ok for switching. Not applicable for me.

For now I am setup a reminder to look at this at the end of February 2022

        • sorry not too sure, we just switched from Origin to AGL (solar feed in was too cheap with Origin) and my partner told me (I trained him well to be a OzBargainer) we also get 12 months, but we have to activate before the 31/12.

          • @Gooddeal21: Yeah unless you have old grandfather rate with origin, the feed in is better with agl nowadays

            • @CyberMurning: last year our plan was expiring we tried to negotiate the feed in rate they said they couldn't do anything (we were about to go from 16c to 11c feed in) so we moved to AGL, the day of the move they called us to offer 20c..yeah ok…this year same thing expiring…though they didn't want to do anything so staying with Origin meant 5c..so we moved…
edit : sorry for the off topic

  • Is this still on and what’s the Eligibility criteria? Just tried that got the message “something went wrong” so I guess I was rejected but I’m not sure why I got rejected

    • Did you try the westpac link that Denyol posted on page 1, worked for me

      • Sorry blind like a bat and I thought this was generic MasterCard. Darn I had closed my Westpac MasterCard a few days before this deal was up, and debit card doesn’t work :(

  • Did any one have any success in cancelling prime membership from this deal? Looks like Mastercard and Amazon are just pointing fingers at each other with no way to cancel the membership.

Here is part of the response I got from Amazon:
"As per our converstation, I understand that you would like to turn off the automatic renewal of your Prime By MasterCard AU.

I would like to help turn off the automatic renewal of your Prime membership on my end but our system does not have an option.

Please contact your card provider for assistance in turning the renewal off or cancelling the trial membership before this ends so that you will not be charged after the trial.

Please understand that since the offer is coming from your card provider ( Westpac ) they are in the position to cancel or turn off your membership.

I have tried to search further and found an option on your end to turn off the autorenewal for your Prime membership:

    1. Sign in to Online Banking from a desktop.
    2. Hover over Payments then select Recurring payments.
    3. Select View next to the payment you would like to cancel.
    4. Select the Cancel recurring payment option on the right.

If this did not help , for further assistance, please contact your card provider for other options."

    • Did it even show up in the recurring payments section of your internet banking?

      • No, it is not there!

  • Damn we got trapped.
Wait I supposed after 3 months they will charge our westpac card, correct? I maybe will just cancelled my card before 3 months is up

  • +3

    Anyone able to cancel?

  • Still the same story, Amazon said to contact MasterCard and cannot cancel on their end…. Perhaps after 3 months is up, that is when the cancel button works? Really don't want to go through the hassle of getting a new card….

    • i guess im lucky my westfield cc is actually a throw away one, just got it for the bonus new customer.
so yeah 100% will cancel my card in feb before 3 months is up.
unbelievable when company with billion profit cant even do promo properly

  • Anyone still trying to get the last Amazon / Mastercard promotion applied? I believe it was during the Black Friday time

  • +3

Just contacted Westpac - they said as it was a long way out (another 2.5 months) before the renewal, they have nothing on their system yet (as a recurring payment). They said if it comes through on renewal, I can ring them and ask them to dispute the charge / chargeback.

    • I checked with Amazon. I joined on 22/12/21, they said the next billing day shows as 22/01/22. Sounds like only one month after I joined. Wouldn’t it be 3 months? I am worried if I would be charged on 22/01/22…

      • title says 3

      • I did the promotion with the Commbank card recently and this varied for people. ie: some showed full 3 months and others (like me) showing one month.

For us, it will automatically renew each month for 3 months. It has done for me.

I think if you contact Amazon chat, they can cancel it at the end of the 3 months. Worst case you get debited a month and during that period cancel it. I'm hooked on The Expanse so will let it go until I've finished or sick of it :)

Amazon has updated the payment and cancellation option, you can update and cancel you free subscription now…at least it is showing on mine.

    • +2

Not for mine. Still the same, End membership greyed out.

      • +1

Same here, still greyed out for me.

        • Same for me, button to end membership, but greyed out and clicking on it does nothing

          • @geoffl: Can you guys see this detail…
            Prime Plan
            Partner billed
            See more information
Your Prime membership is activated through Mastercard. For any membership billing questions, contact Amazon
            Upcoming change
On 16 February 2022 you will change your plan to: Monthly AUD$ 6.99

            • +1

@fishandchips: There is no upcoming change section for me. It only shows "Your Prime membership is activated through Mastercard. For any membership billing questions, contact Amazon".

Maybe that only becomes visible in your last free month?

            • +1

@fishandchips: I can't see it. However I think I know what may trigger it. If you are less than 30 days to renewal. My renewal will not be until approx 25 Mar.

    • Able to cancel. Now to wait if my cc gets billed

      • Talk to Amazon again they should be able to cancel now. They have cancelled mine : )

    • Got it on mine, thanks!

  • Just got an email saying my subscription was cancelled, didn't click anything… Strange.

    • So did I, 2 months in (I did the earlier Commbank offer) .
Went back in and selected trial for another month.

  • +1

Update: Cancel option appeared on Amazon to end membership now from the freebie no need to contract support.

    • +1

Agent said with this once you cancel you loose prime right away (not like normal prime trial)

      • Just cancelled mine and it says I have 2 days of benefits left.

    • My option is not available. I spoke with Amazon support they told me to contact MasterCard.

      • +1

Are you on your third month?

  • Hey for those who already have a prime account with the card added… how did you claim the gift card?

    Thansk

  • Contacted Amazon via chat and they said my Prime membership expires soon (early Feb - basically 2 months instead of 3 months free trial for some reason) and I could cancel by contacting them via chat. Just tried now to cancel via chat and they said the previous Amazon rep gave me false info and I need to contact the third party biller (Mastercard). The cancel option doesn’t appear on mine… I just removed all my payment methods.

    • The Manage Prime membership now seems to have updated for me showing a renewal date in early March (so get 3 mths after all) and the option to “End Membership” is now available. Seems like the Amazon rep I chatted to gave me completely wrong info - wrong renewal date (told me it was in Feb) and that I could cancel via chat.

      • they werent wrong. but previously, the staff could not see the expiry date they just see it as month by month so they tell you the next expiry. this is all because of the promo trial came from partner ie bank.

mine still greyed out, supposed to ends around 3rd week of march…..

  • Thanks OP, managed to redeem $15 GC :)

  • +1

Seems they updated the T&C after the original post:

After the 90-day promotional period, you authorise Amazon to charge $6.99 AUD/month for Amazon Prime service. To make any cancellation requests in your first two months of the promotional period, you will need to contact Amazon customer service directly at amazon.com.au/contact. Upon beginning your third or final month of the promotional period, you can cancel directly via your account at amazon.com.au or in the Amazon mobile app or by contacting customer service.

So my two months (of the 3 month trial) should end today/tomorrow, so I'm hoping I'll be able to cancel it from the app tomorrow.

    • Yep that has been my experience

      • Yup, I can now click ‘end membership’ in my Amazon account. I haven’t gone through the process just yet as I’ve got 25 free days left.

        • +1

Think you can still cancel now and enjoy your benefits for the next 25 days (that had been my experience anyway).

  • If I’m not an Amazon Prime member but don’t want the membership and only want the $15 gift card, do I get a choice? Or will it automatically give me the 3 months membership regardless if I want it or not?
