    $32.95 shipping to Perth WA.

    • $58.95 shipping to Perth for me.

      • Ordered one and postage was definitely $32.95. Where are you located?

        • I ordered one too. I am within 30km of the centre of Perth, but got charged extra for postage. Dont know how they calculate it.

          • @valkeris: Allied Express "lost" my fridge for a month. I have finally got an update that it will be delivered on 31 Jan. Hopefully it shows up undamaged.

From the other comments on here does not appear that catch have further stock to replace it if damaged or goes missing and are just refunding.

Are these any good. Can’t find a review.

    • These aren't good. It's a debatable topic but stick with Engel. Others say Dometic is good but that's owned by Waeco so not as good and a premium is to be had on them.

Every good 4x4 store always swears by Engel.

      • +3

In all fairness this is 1/8 the price so willing to roll the dice

        • That simply puts it into prospective doesn't it. You pay for what you get.

          • +2

@neofelis: That rule doesn't necessarily apply here on OzBargain. Sometime we get 10x what is paid for, if the bargain is good enough.
No doubt that Engel is the much better brand overall though

          • @neofelis: otherwise its stealing :D

        • +2

I am a usually a firm believer in "you get what you pay for", I rolled the dice on a brass monkey fridge 18 months ago and it is still in the boot of my car been running 24-7. For a while there I didn't have it strapped down and it would roll onto its back, no idea how long it would be running on its back for but I'd flip it back up and still good to this day.

      • +1

Other way around. Dometic is the parent company of Waeco.
Never had a problem with Dometic or Waeco.

Engel has the biggest name premium.

      • Brass Monkey from RTM are a good quality budget option

      • So your reasons for saying these aren't good, is because another brand is good.

      • Every good 4x4 store always swears by Engel.

Definitely not saying this is as good as an Engel, but sometimes you do wonder if it's because they have good profit margins on them, or the salesman gets the best commissions on high-priced items, or "nobody gets fired for buying IBM". i.e. Engel are good, but some cheaper brands are just good too, but without the well-known name.

      • Once upon a time, an Engel salesman told two blokes that “you should only ever buy an Engel fridge”. Those two blokes told two more blokes each and before you know it the Engel pyramid scheme has taken over.

        Are Engel good? Yes
Are there plenty of other good fridges? Yes

To put it in perspective, I got a 55L eBay special for $400 odd and 7 years later isn’t hasn’t skipped a beat. Been thrown around and beaten up.

  • Another Evakool OEM badge product?

  • Think it's a primus

  • Looks like it's a sub-brand of Companion Outdoor who make budget fridge/freezers, I've had good experience with them. This has a knock-off SECOP compressor so should perform well enough, won't chew through the battery. Has a 3 year warranty but I wouldn't expect it to last as long as an Engel or Dometic equivalent. Assuming it lasts three years, at $55/year it's probably a good deal to have as a beer/emergency fridge in the garage and for camping trips.

    • This has a knock-off SECOP compressor so should perform well enough,

What makes you say it's a knock-off SECOP?

    • +1

      It's not a knock-off it's a proper Secop BD35F. Had a look.

  • +1

I think it's $500 on special. Some places are selling it for $999.

Can't find any real reviews so it's a bit of a gamble, but a 37L powered fridge for under $200 is great any which way.

  • Just grabbed one. Needed a smaller fridge for the car. $224 delivered.

  • Ordered one too. tbh great deal and it's 24kg so 18 bucks shipping is a bargain

  • under $200 for a 37L fridge, can't be more bargain

  • Bought one too thanks

  • missed it! think it was a pricing error…

    price back to 999

    • That $999 is just a 3rd party vendor, the actual special was sold by Catch themselves.

  • +1

    Why when I click says $999 ?

  • Just when I signed up it expired :(

  • Either a pricing error or now out of stock. Dam that seemed like a great bargain. Too slow.

  • I was on payment page and it was removed because out of stock. Missed it by literally seconds. Screw you guys.. 😅

  • Amazing price

  • +2

Still bought for 999 THANKS OP

    • Woah, that's… dedicated?

      • Especially when they’re on eBay for $649 + free shipping (+ use 3% discount eBay gift cards).

  • lol wtf, now it's $999. What a joke.

  • +2

    This is back on

  • My 4 yrs old 55L glacio brand start throwing err3 and compressor not starting.
I just ordered this one and hopefully a good replacement

  • $19 for delivery to Victoria 3021.
not sure why i need it but for Oz spirit, i just ordered one.
    Thanks OP

  • Hey yeah, wtf, it's on sale again for the next 23 hours. Only just over 20 left in stock.

Edit: Just reported to somehow remove the Out of Stock title so others who may have missed the deal will be able to see it again.

  • Bought one. Thanks!

  • Anyone got one yet? What are they like?

    • Mine is onboard for delivery today, once I get it I’ll let you know what it is like

    • Received mine this morning (Metro Melb). It's a Primus. Build quality is fine. Definitely worth the $180 paid (after 3% ShopBack).

Plugged it into AC power at ambient temp ~20C, empty compartments. Set both zones to -18C on ECO mode. It's taken about 40 mins to reach ~0-1C. So probably 2 hours to reach -18C from 20C ambient from empty compartments. Manual doesn't explain the difference between ECO or MAX mode - I assume just the frequency the compressor kicks on. The compressor noise is about the same as a Roomba, or a graphics card at 80% fan speed.

Went round the unit with a stubby phillips screwdriver and tightened some of the screws half a turn (especially on the control panel). Read the manual front to back in a few mins and it's straight forward to use and operate. Carry handles feel solid, are spring-loaded and sit pretty mush flush with the sides.

      • Was yours shipped with allied express?

        • Yes, Allied Express. Received an SMS notification an hour before delivery.

          • @OneJay: I have mine onboard today as well since 7:46am and the driver was around my area for a couple of hours and even came into my suburb as I can see which suburb they are in now they are going further away from my suburb now. It’s almost 5 and no package yet

            • @jayboi: It depends on the contractor. I can only assume when they packed their van today they put your package on the inside behind everyone else’s, so they have to deliver those first before they can reach yours at the back 🤷🏻‍♂️

              • @OneJay: Yeah really hoping it comes before the weekend as I’ll be going to the beach and this would be great

              • @OneJay: Well, it was returned to the depot and now says "the freight has been measured by dimensioner."
                sigh
At least it isn't returned to sender.

                • @jayboi: AKA the contractor ran out of time to make the delivery hence returned to depot, but still need to make it sound like a legit excuse so the recipient doesn’t get as annoyed.

      • Took about 2 hours to get the temp down from 20C to -16C.

One tip is to not set the temperature to -18C. The compressor seemed to run 100% of the time and that last 2 degrees seemed unachievable. The smaller side was bouncing between -17 and -18 and the larger side at -16 trying to get there.

Once I set the min temps to -15C both sides the compressor switched off and happily maintained temp, switching on and off intermittently.

        • Is there 2 seperate compartments or just 1?
Can I set one side to a fridge temp and one to a freezer?

          • +1

@jayboi: Being the “Flexi Zone” model it has 2 separate compartments. You can set each compartment to a different temperature. Or you can disable one compartment and just use the other.

Most efficient use would be to set the large side to a fridge say 4C, and the smaller side to say -10C as a freezer (or to 4C, or disabled if not required). Power efficiency is determined by the outside ambient temperature the compressor has to overcome. Example it’s 34C here in Melb today, if I was going to utilise the freezer on a road trip I wouldn’t set it at -15C, rather at -10C or so as it’s easier on the battery and compressor.

  • Had it in the cart at $168, logged in, now $999…..

  • Back to the regular price of $549.
Quite a bargain for those that got one

  • Found the reviews for this brand and many are not great…..not sure if that’s the majority having issues or just the 1%.

We’ll see when we get ours

  • Well, got mine. Build quality looks very good for the money. Very happy with that. Its weighty too, but goddamit. My one arrived with box damage and dents on the lid
    Sigh..

    Mine is delayed

We just wanted to let you know there's been a slight delay in dispatching your order from our warehouse. We're still working on getting it to you.

    • +2

They never marked mine as dispatched and it just arrived this afternoon. Just wait for a text from the courier company called Allied Express

    • I purchased mine on the second round on the 27th, and it's still processing. I'm a little worried they might cancel me.. 😢

      • +1

Don't worry, if you didn't do anything dodgy you won't get cancelled.
        ;)

        • I meant the 29th but thank you! Fingers crossed an update soon!

          • @[Deactivated]: Still processing on order 29/12 to 02/01. Still hoping there isn't an order issue.

However, reading a few comments here, now I'm worried I'll end up getting a beat up unit.. :-(

Please post here if ya'll have any more issues and what you ending up doing to resolve it.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: I didn't notice anyone else so far, I think its just me that got a dented one and that is probably down to my local courier being a rough halfwit

              • +1

@King Tightarse: Oh yeah, my bad, I've just been rechecking the OP every now and then and it's probably stuck in my head and manifested.. 😅

Hoping it's not a big issue for you to resolve it. Will you be trying to replace it?

                • @[Deactivated]: Well I am just testing it out now as it happens - been running for 20 minutes and so far seems to be working fine. Both zones are showing 11c down from 34c outside. Runs smooth and quiet.
I have been thinking about the returns process and I am guess I would have to pay to ship it back (don't know for sure as I have never returned anything with before) and i don't know whether they would send me a new one or just refund?
It is so cheap for what it is, I might just put up with it if it runs OK. It just has some 'dings' in the door on top but they are not too ugly. Box was a but whacked though, so I am assuming it copped it pretty hard during transport.

                  • @King Tightarse: Damn, sorry my dude.

Yeah, that's a good point, they could just refund but at the price purchased it's probably worth it to just hold onto it still.

If mine comes in the same, I'd probably still end up sending an email and if they'd be able to replace I'd probably still pay for the return shipping since we've saved soo much.. 😅

                    • +1

@[Deactivated]: Took 50 mins to bring both sides (empty) down to 0c. It actually pulled them down a little past 0 to -3/-2 from 34 starting point.
really quiet and smooth running. Seems very good so far. Not light though (24kgs)

                      • +2

@King Tightarse: Took mine to the beach yesterday. It was excellent. In the car it Brought the temperature down to -12 on the smaller side and 2 for the fridge. When the ignition is turned off it doesn’t stay on but for 2 hours in pretty warm weather it kept the ice cream still frozen inside. Extremely happy with it
Mine did come with 2 very tiny dints on the side of the lid and it isn’t visible much at all

                        • @jayboi: Mine is still processing.. :(

      • I got that email too and I already received mine (dented) but it does not say dispatched on the site.
Its just an auto generated email.

    • -1

gotta love OZB, neg for saying that I got an email stating that it has been delayed.

  • +1

Easily my best ozbargain purchase. It’s an absolute bargain.

  • +1

Fridge Cooling Times: starting from 33c, sitting in the shade on a porch.

    Left 33c to 0c = 50 mins
    Right 33c to 0c = 45 mins

    Left 0c to -17c = 85 mins (after 1 hour was -9)
    Right 0c to -17c = 68 mins (after 1 hour was - 16)

Just going off the control panel read-out, have not tested with a thermometer

  • For those received theirs, what level of noise is yours producing? If I put my phone next to the vent, an iPhone app says it was between 60 and 70 decibel when the motor was running at full capacity.

    I found that’s really noisy.

    • I think you need to have the phone a certain distance away to get an accurate reading but in my case, when it was on the back porch, I could not tell if was running or not without putting my ear right up to it

  • With mine running indoors you could hear it but it was by no means annoyingly loud.So far I can’t find any faults my one worry will be how much power it draws.

    • Specs say 85W when running at max , so I would say not much at all

      • +1

My monitor showed it was at 38.5W when both compartments were running towards -18 degrees.

        • My monitor showed around 38W when on Eco and about 47W running on Max

  • In my case, personally I think it is too loud to be bearable if running in a tent. I just uploaded a Youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAFVhoeFTzE

    • Do you sleep next to your fridge at home?

      • Not really sure what you are talking about. I clearly said in a tent.

        • Exactly. Why on earth would you run it in a tent? Just put it somewhere it's not going to bother you.

  • I wouldn’t sleep right next to it. I don’t think that’s the idea. Mine will be in the back of my Ute. If you’re worried about it being stolen maybe put it in your car with the windows down a little bit or leave it outside under a tarp.
