  • compare to poco x3 pro for $300
    or poco F3

    • No warranty on those, unless you spend more on Amazon/got the X3 on there on black friday.

Also no OLED or 5G (the latter admittedly not as important for most) on the X3.

      • +1

I really oppose the warranty claims. The only thing that sucks between both phones is the screen in poco X3 Pro and maybe the processor and less ram in moto. And 5g? Meh..

        • +1

Agreed. Look I get that warranty is important to a lot of people, then again Xiaomi is pretty reliable and I haven't had a single issue with all of my Xiaomi phones I've imported since 2016.

For me the offset in price savings is worth it.

          • +1

@adrianhughes1998: Right, but I would say form me the performance is really good as well considering the price. No lags or hangs. Till now.

        • Warranty is important for some, especially for peace of mind.

I'm not too overly fussed as long as the price is good, but I'm buying this for my mum and she prefers to have the peace of mind.

But yeah having an AMOLED is a real bonus on this one over the X3.

This is 185 grams and has a OLED screen

      Differencent build quality

    • +3

This uses a MediaTek chipset compared to Snapdragon 860 on the POCO, also doesn't have infrared port, slightly smaller battery and slower fast charging at 30w only.

    • comm'on !
Oled and 5G is a must
      Paper specs like fine

  • Great phone but dim outdoors and camera is subpar.

    • +2

Yeah camera's not the best but pretty passable for this price range from what I've seen.

  • any xiaomi phone deal going on?

  • +1

Anyone know what the best camera on an Android for around 500 would be? Thought there'd be more boxing day offers…

    • +2

      Pixel 4a camera is fantastic.

      • Not seeing any new stock online anywhere. Weirdly there's more 2xl available. If it is anywhere its ebay/Amazon for 750

    • Galaxy S21 (ultra being the pick) if you can wait out another Samsung deal.

      • Is that using the trade in? I just have a galaxy 8 so I don't think they're interested lol

      • the 22 is out but so far its camera is meh

  • +2

yeah, the Galaxy S8 is the best one to use, it's valued as $5, so using that still gets you the $500 bonus on top of the first $500 discount and when you don't send it in they'll only charge you the $5. By then you'd sell it for $200 on the used market. Don't give it away for $5, that is not in your favour.

    • so if im understanding you right, i dont even need a s8 to do this?

      • +2

you do, you need to run a trade up app and verify a few details, that app will generate an ID code and it's that ID code that you enter on the Samsung web shop to get the $500 discount for trade in.

    • +1

Woah.. I just thought I'd get the 5 bucks off… Note to self - focus! Thanks :)

      • +1

yeah they gave a $500 discount off the bat, then with a qualifying device they have given up to another $500 off plus you $5 for the phone, then sign up to the newsletter and get another code to stack giving another $50. the last deal you could have had a S21+ 128Gb, for $495. Some people had loyalty credit of $100 or $200 to stack again.

Then again they may reduce the bonus trade in to $300 and the deal is not as good. I fine they're $500 overpriced to begin with so that first $500 discount can reduce the price to say JBhifi's $1300 instead of Samsungs BS $1800. More tactics for a sus Manufacture and behaviour you should be looking out for.

  • $387 at allphones ebay if you don't have zip. $349 with zip is the cheapest ever I believe.

    • buy $300 jb gift card using zip(single use card), get $50 back, using other discount jb gift card to pay for the left 99, you will save more.

  • Using this phone now for past few weeks - bought for 399 with gift cards. Everything great except for camera - has a lag between pressing the button and the photo being taken, also has some processing time after taking a photo. Other points is that its quite a long phone shape wise VS my iPhone XR. Otherwise snappy and screen looks great long battery life. Minor comment is its not waterproof and the built in speaker is not the best.

    • drop the resolution down to something more manageable like FHD and see if that speeds it up taking pics.

  • Ordered mine this arvo with the $50 Zip offer plus a $10 Zip referral (as I was new to Zip). Very happy with the price I paid ($339). Looking forward to collecting it tomorrow. Thanks OP.
