  • FYI for those who lives in NSW, electric scooter, skateboards and hoverboards are illegal in NSW.

    https://i.redd.it/j0lixinbqu681.jpg

    • A bunch of people have been getting fined up to $2500~ as its classed as an unregistered motorbike.

Was the officer having a bad day or just being a***?

        • Most general duties officers don't care but NSW HWP will target you 100%. Some do bring attention to themselves by not wearing a helmet and speeding around pedestrians

Check the stories in scooter reddit. There was also a bit in A Current affair the other day

          https://9now.nine.com.au/a-current-affair/videos/latest/sydn…

          • @flipfire: That video from current affair explains how the fine goes up to 2.5k (helmet 352 , use unregistered registrable class a motor vehicle on road 704, owner use vehicle on-road/road-related area with tax unpaid704, uninsured vehicle 704)

No offence, but seems bunch of Butt Burn NSW people down voting facts!

Some people live in states that allow electric scooters. Queensland does and it's a great, acceptable and legal way to commute.

Bought this a year ago, done 1,500Km and still just as good as the day I bought it. Friends regularly borrow it to commute as well!

    • +2

Yea. I live in WA and had the first version of this scooter about 3 years ago. It was brilliant and did the job as my first entry level scooter. Did nearly 3000km on it commuting to work before i upgraded to my inokim oxo that ive now done nearly 5500km on. Never had any issues from cops even before they became legal here in WA. Even tho my current one is not legal due to weight and speed capabilities.

Seems like QLD actually has a progressive government while NSW MPs are wasting their time suing YouTubers and engaging in corruption.

The Dom nutter in charge has let Covid spread across the country so a vehicle like this is the least of our worries.

      • +4

E-scooters could actually reduce Covid transmission, as an alternative to packed trains and busses.

It would also help with the defective sydney light rail trams where the whole fleet is out of commission for 18 months for inner city folks

Thankfully 'not in the mood' Constance is now gone.

        • +1

Agreed. But don't expect corrupt liberals to embrace moves that make sense.

The LNP are even going on the offensive threatening to fine people.

    Can recommend 10" tyre upgrade..

  • +1

My wife has the original and we bought 3 of the version 2 with the Black Friday sales for my 2 boys and myself. Great machines, especially if you hack them to increase the speed (haven't done it on the new machines, yet). They, however, have one major issue, though not sure if this is still a problem with the second version - replacing the tyre tube. The wheels are a pain to get off but putting the new tube in is impossible. I had to use a Stanley knife to remove part of the hard plastic on the wheel. Works fine now but took me hours (and many bad words!).

    Besides this, well worth buying.

I upgraded my Pro2 to 10" tyres, didn't have any major hassles, besides de-rimming the old tyres without proper tyre levers. If you had trouble with the actual tube, try inflating it a little before inserting it & a little baby powder helps too for centering it better.

I look at these all of the time. My question is if it's a b*tch to get parts/batteries later?

Use code MBD10 for 10% off. Bring it down to $620.10.

    • Is Gearbite a reputable seller??

      • +2

They will deliver, but after sales support will be hit and miss from my observations here

Grey market imports, which is why its cheap

  • I just bought one from Gearbite using MBD10 for further 10% discount although it's not the lowest price seen on here. I couldn't wait for the next sales below to get below $600.

Gearbite site says it'll be in stock late December. Does anyone knows if they're back in stock and they're brand new not refurbished scooters.

So far their Custer service doesn't answer their call or have replied my emails for several days now.

I got a response about 1 week ago saying stock comes in start of January.

This is kind of a pre-order/ backorder

Gearbite also have the scooter listed on eBay for $799. Showing received date as 20-26 Jan

    • Update - I received mine today via couriersplease! It arrived 1 day from getting picked up Melb - Adelaide

  • Thanks OP, just bought one and used the discount code others have mentioned!
I hope it doesn't take a month to arrive… car died today and I'm too poor to buy another so I thought I'd try to survive on a scooter for a while.

  • Would these work on dirt walking tracks and fire trails?

    • These are commuter scooters, they can do offroad but wont be able to handle steep inclines and no suspensions will make it rough.

You can upgrade the motor, battery and suspensions to make it more offroad capable but its more economical to just buy a proper offroad scooter. Have a look at the Dragon GTR v2

      • Thanks mate. Will look at it.

  • OOS

  • Mine just shipped today with Couriers Please

    • Same except with Aramex, so I expect to see it in a few years

      • I paid extra for express postage so not sure if that made a difference?

        • I paid for express and mine went with Aramex, so who knows.

          • @witheredcouch: Does Aramex tracking show it as been picked up?

            • @Deal-Sniper: My Aramex just shows the "Wait 48 hours for tracking to be updated"

              • @Herk: Any updates? i'm not sure mine has even been picked up yet…. just only created a tracking number

                • @Deal-Sniper: Nope, but last time I had something shipped through Aramex I waited 2 months for it to leave Sydney to Perth

                  • @Herk: Update - I received mine today via couriersplease! It arrived 1 day from getting picked up Melb - Adelaide

                    • @Deal-Sniper: Still got no tracking updates on mine. Pretty disappointed considering I paid for express.

        • Mine is still yet to arrive, but they just confirmed to me in an email that there actually is no express postage option for the scooters, and that they are sent the same regardless due to size, which I think is rude and dishonest.

      • Did you receive your scooter yet ?

        • Nope, contacted Aramex and got the usual dribble from them about it hasn't either arrived at their warehouse yet or it hasn't been processed (it'll be the second), be lucky to see it by the end of Jan probably

          • @Herk: Mine is listed as at depot since the 11th but no further updates. Gearbite kindly refunded my express delivery $ as this clearly isn't that.

            • @witheredcouch: Yeah I got an update today, arrival on the 25th-27th, just processed in Melbourne lol

              • @Herk: Mine has just changed its listing to "delayed". Was really hoping it'd arrive over the past few weeks as i was WFH (which is why i paid express), now there is not going to be anyone home when it gets dropped off. Given it started in Melbourne and I'm also in Melbourne, it is very disappointing.

              • @Herk: Has yours arrived yet? Aramex seem to have lost mine, status hasn't changed since the 11th and they keep saying they will "look into it"

                • @witheredcouch: Yeah still waiting, Aramex have assured me it’s in Perth, just in a huge backlog at their depot so not really much that can do. Crazy that it’s been a month and still not here yet, I’ve had packages from US, UK and Russia which shipped Mid jan and already arrived, hell I had a aliexpress order arrive faster

                  • @Herk: All my AliExpress orders have been taking 2-3 weeks at the moment, meanwhile Aramex don't seem to be able to transport a scooter across Melbourne in that time.

  • looks like the price has gone up.

  • Still waiting for scooter to ship, placed an order on 31dec, have not received any updates or order confirmation anyone else not received scooter yet? Multiple emails to [email protected] with no response.

    • I ordered after you, and whilst I haven't received it yet due to Aramex being slow, I have received multiple responses from that email as well as order confirmation, tracking etc. Try messaging on FB?

      • Yep tried FB msg nil reply to that either, might have to put in a paypal dispute

    • I ordered on 30 Dec and received my scooter on 7 Jan (CouriersPlease, Melbourne to Adelaide)

  • CouriersPlease apparently received my scooter on Jan 7 and since then I've heard nothing. I tried to follow up with CouriersPlease but they're deflecting? How long am I expected to wait? I ordered on January 2.
