  • I don’t use enough for this.

    Afaik creality make shit PLA.

Seems pretty hit or miss, but the price seems too good so I think it might be right to pass it up.

Cheap PLA isn't worth the extra time wasted on failed prints.

  • Make sure you use it within a small time frame so it doesn't go bad. Bought a bunch of another brand, was fine for a while and then became brittle.

    • Did you keep it packaged? Sometimes the moisture in the air can cause hydration of the filament.

    • +3

You need to dry your filaments if kept for a long time.

Better off waiting for SunLu PLA to go on sale. Plenty of bulk deals on eBay.

    • Better than esun?

      • +4

        Nothing's better than esun pla+…
        Jk,
I find them to be about the same for normal pla personally.

I find their PETG is better, but nothing prints as fast and reliably as eSun PLA+ in my experience (for the price).

    • Better off using PETG.

      • I'm switching to pla to try and reduce my stringing. It's not major but it's still significant enough that I don't mind sacrificing a bit of print strength.

        • If you've got stringing you should lower your hotend temps a bit. If it's too high it flows too easily and you get stringing.

          • @Tacooo: I'm at 240 and lowering it much more caused under extrusion. Probably just the no name petg being crap (humidity is not the issue).

      • Depends what you're printing. PETG doesn't like to be super glued or painted, where PLA is fine with it.
Really I use PETG when printing parts for printers and machines - for props and cosplay though, PLA+ wins hands down.

  • They also have the Ender 3 V2 on sale for $350 delivered. That seems relatively cheap doesn’t it?

      $302 with coupon 3DP15 from Clear's deal

      • Oh my gah. I just got a resin printer. Now I’m hooked. I don’t need this, but I want it.

        • -2

Resin printers are better in every way, you don't want it

          • @MagnamoniousRex: Pros and cons to both styles of printer. FDM has the advantage of greater strength, simpler non-toxic process, huge range of colours/types of plastic, ability to have multiple hotends for combining colours, ability to automate in a farm environment. Resin is great for high detail prints, and is generally faster for bulk printing on the same plate.

          • +2

@MagnamoniousRex: Yeah I don't need an entire room dedicated to SLA printing and all the chemicals associated with it. I'll stick to FDM for now.

        • I went the other way (FDM first), great for functional parts. Now looking at resin for small detailed parts.

If only the Anycubic Photon 4K hadn't sold out so fast in this sale. Tempted to save some money and buy the 2K Photon Mono, but 4K is about to become the norm…

      Sounds like a normal-ish price for e3 v2.

  • Just got an Ender 3 V2 for Christmas. Is InkStation an okay source for filament? Seems like $26/kg for PLA, or should I be looking for this eSun PLA in eBay?

    • +1

eSun is available from Cubic Tech in Melbourne. Don't buy it on eBay, it'll cost more.

  • I have a question for those who use 3 D printers.
Are you using it as a hobby or a business.
    Thanks in advance
