The 5700u, based on Zen 2, will provide slight slower single core performance vs the 5600u and i7 1165G7, but better multi-core due to 8 cores vs 6 or 4.

  • how do u get access to the education store

    • You'll need an email that has .edu in it

  • Is this one better than the i7 model

    • In terms of performance they are similar overall although each has a slight edge over the other depending on the power level. But the AMD gives you much better battery life.

    • The AMD Ryzen 5 CPU is faster than the Intel i7 CPU in the other Yoga. Refer to my CPU comparison links above.

      • ùsername checks out

  • the 16gb is showing as $1,524.00 in the edu store for me

Your not applying the code I posted

      • yea i didnt apply that!

Applied code and worked, there is a 8 week wait though.

  • May i ask how this compares to the lenovo ideapad slim 5 pro?
    Thank you in advance.

      For clarification:

5600U and 5800U are binned for great performance within the thermal design point of 15W TDP. This CPU is normally in laptops geared towards good battery life.

5600H and 5800H are binned to provide great performance within a higher thermal design point of 45W TDP. You will normally find this CPU in gaming laptops.

You will also see CPUs ending with HS. These CPU are binned to provide performance similar to a a higher TDP 5800H but at 35W instead. You will normally see this CPU in thin gaming and performance laptops.

      • I was in the middle of researching when you posted this but your explanation makes it so much easier to understand. Thank you :D

Yoga is a 2:1 and the ideapad is a normal laptop with no touchscreen. The specs are similar though, the 5600U is a better CPU

      • Thank you so much. I'm assuming that if I don't need touchscreen, I should go with the cheaper option - Lenovo Ideapad 5 pro with similar specs but $200 cheaper? :D

    • +1

I ordered the ideapad, I don’t need the smaller form factor or touchscreen and value the slightly nicer screen.

  • if only i could get one of these lenovo deals with a 500 nit display..

    • There are a few laptops I've found so far with 500+ nit display.

If you give me a max price, I can let you know the laptop that contain 500+nit display that fall under that price (if any).

      • $2k would be the max. preferably ryzen 5/7

        • +1

Sweet as, I'll compile a list with the mentioned specs for you and post the names. If the CPU is not intel, I'll also list that CPU model incase you want to compare benchmarks.

        • +4

All items listed are lsited as having 400+ nit display. Prices are WITHOUT code.

          Intel:
          1. ThinkBook 15p Intel Mineral Grey (i7-10750H) - $2209/600nits

          1. IdeaPad Flex 5i 15" Intel Graphite Grey (I7-1165G7) - $1859/500nits

          3. Yoga 7i 15" Intel Slate Grey (i7-1165G7) - $1879/500nits

          AMD:
          1. ThinkPad T14 Gen 2 AMD (upgraded screen to 500nits IPS with R5 PRO 5650U) - $1874

          1. ThinkPad T14 Gen 2 AMD (upgraded screen to 500nits IPS with R7 PRO 5850U) - $2169/should be under 2k with code if works.

          2. ThinkPad P14s Gen 2 AMD (upgraded screen to 500nits, stock R5 PRO 5650U) $2074/should be under 2k with code if works.

          3. ThinkPad P14s Gen 2 AMD (upgraded screen to 500nits, Upgraded R7 PRO 5850U) $2274/should be under 2k with code if works AND cash back.

          Hope this helps.

          • @Jefferson: thanks heaps for all this mate. you wouldnt happen to know the difference between a 500nit hdr400 screen and a 400nit hdr500 screen would you?

  • Should consider the 8 weeks (or two months) delivery.

  • I have been looking for reviews on this laptop but, I'm having a hard time finding any.
I'm a noob. Can anyone give me any opinion on the laptop?

    Thank you

  • This or the one from TGG (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/675234)

Amd cpu looks a little better on paper but I don't think you can go wrong with either. Amd has an 8 week order delay or Intel is instant pickup from stores

  • Looking at a new laptop soon, anyone know of other brands or retailers (besides Apple) that have discounts for education?
