  • It says line trimmer but pictures show blades, rather than a trimmer line.

Looks like trimmer line to me. It might be the shadow of the guard that you're seeing.

      • Nah, 100% that’s a blade. It’s utter trash. I got one and let the kids use it bladeless. It’s pretty gutless and only good for really short grass edges.

I would suspect the ebay variant would be even worse.

Edit: though this does look like a knock off/copy/rebadge of the ozito unit. I wonder if the batteries would be comparable. It’s also an updated version to what I have, so it may have improved, though I doubt it, all the bladed variants are much the same, even the corded ones which have much more oomph.

I had a range of Certa cordless tools and swapped to Ozito PXC. Batteries are not compatible.

          • @Rogerwilco: Are they decent quality for the price?

            • +1

@ABA: That depends on what price you can get them for. The Kogan price was up and down like a yo-yo. When they were at the lowest price they were a pretty good buy but other times the price was crazy high. I assume that's still the case but I haven't looked at Certa prices for a couple of years. They all seemed to work ok but IMHO Certa are at the lower end of the quality ladder, noticeably lower than the Ozito PCX range.

      • You can see the red blade in most of the pics

        • Oh. I've never seen blades like that before. I was looking for a big, circular-saw-blade type thing.

        • That photo is for another model. The description mentions the line as well as all the reviews.

  • Cordless Grass Line

it wouldn't be very durable would it

I bought the Ozito version recently and love it. Very light and not much vibration. Very useful for maintenance grass trimming and edging. I got my wife to slash the overgrown weeds today which were over 0.5m high and she was so happy that she doesn't have to ask me to maintain the lawn now as I am very lazy when it comes to it. So I convinced her to do it on a regular basis now. 😀

This one also has the 90 degree twist and angle adjustment which mine doesn't so it should be even better.

  • $89.95 minus $10 after code -Definitely not $49.95!

    • Didn't know it was a special price. Good I didn't wait and ordered it last night.

    • Specification:
100% brand new with high quality
      Material: Aluminum + Plastic
      Color: Red
      Plug: AU
      Battery: 24V
      Power: 450W
      Cutting diameter: 140mm
      Speed: 6000 RPM
      Contraction length: 920mm/36.3in
      Stretch length: 1220mm/48in

Not sure why battery would have AU plug.
Never heard of 24V battery for trimmer.
      No Ah rating on Battery

      • Yes battery is a concern and no brand.

        • It reads like a corded electric but pictures show a 24V battery attached…go figure

    • I’m pretty fast and loose with safety. I’ve made “grenades” with butane cans and out of date flares. I’ve made co2 cannons that were slightly too powerful and punched through fences. Built my own jet turbine (about 100lb thrust) which can consume a 45kg gas bottle in 10 minutes. I’ve never been scared playing, I’ve never been scared living on the dodgy edge. This electric whipper snipper with a circular saw blade bloody terrifies me.

  • I just received mine and it is a line trimmer. The quality is better than I expected quite good for the price. It is a rebranded Certa so it has DMC printed everywhere.

    • Can you confirm if it’s battery operated and how long it lasts on battery ?
