  • These are supposedly the best you can get. Apparently 98% ish accuracy. These are therefore great given the ‘acceptable sensitivity’ tests are allowed to be sold with an effectiveness as low as 80%.
Also made in Germany not China.

    • RAT is the hand sanitiser (2020) of 2022. Likely not performing as expected.

  • +1

Probably scalpers scooping them up to resell for profit.

  • Can we get this from overseas for personal use?

  • +2

No point should be free like in the UK

  • RATs seem like they would be very cheap to mass produce. I expect production to scale up like crazy on them, and shortages to be short lived. Will see I guess.

  • +2

    The new toilet paper.

  • damm just paid $70 for this at the pharmacy

    • +3

Don't sweat it. With this now being out of stock, I guess the other way of looking at it is that at least you have some on hand if you need them.

      • +3

thank you for curing my buyers remorse

  • Fevermates selling it for around $65 inc delivery.

    https://www.fevermates.com/products/panbio-covid-19-antigen-…

    • Pre-Order
    • That's a preorder

  • -2

This site is offering preorders for the same RATs, slightly more expensive - https://www.fevermates.com/products/panbio-covid-19-antigen-…

Shipping time they reckon mid-to-late Jan, might be useful if you just want some spare ones but can wait?

There is no difference to this current phase and the toilet paper phase.

    Feel sick, stay at home.

Plus, these tests are for sale in Europe at 3 euro a pop.

    I despair.

  • Just saying : I am currently in India(came 3 days back), got this kit (Panbio) for $6 easily as its TGA approved, others ICMR(Indian govt body) are like $4 also.
I am suspecting India will be in same state as Australia after 2-3 months.

    • I was thinking to get from India for personal use

    • Can you send some over to your ozbargainers mates?

      • I have sent an email to TGA. Hopefully I can get some without having import approval

        • Rapid antigen test kits are considered medical devices, so I think they might fall under the TGA's personal importation provisions if you're buying them for your own use.
          https://www.tga.gov.au/personal-importation-scheme

Would be interesting to see what TGA get back to you with.

          • @GreenGuava: All importers of COVID-19 test kits must apply for, and be granted, an import permit for all consignments of COVID-19 test kits that are imported into Australia, unless the importer can demonstrate that the goods are for personal use only

            https://www.tga.gov.au/covid-19-rapid-antigen-tests-informat…

          • @GreenGuava: This is the reply from TGA

Thank you for your email which has been sent to COVID-tests for a response.

Individuals can legally import most therapeutic goods for personal use under the Personal Importation Scheme.

Under the Personal Importation Scheme you may import a 3 month supply at the one time (at the maximum dose recommended by the manufacturer) of unapproved therapeutic goods into Australia without any approval required by the TGA provided that:

the goods are for your own treatment or the treatment of your immediate family; and you do not supply (sell or give) the medicine to any other person; and where possible, you keep the medicines or medical devices in their original packaging with any dispensing labels intact; and the goods are not restricted under Australian Customs controls or quarantine rules and the goods do not contain a controlled substance; and the goods are not injections that contain material of human or animal origin (except insulin); and the total quantity of the goods imported within a 12 month period does not exceed 15 months supply of the goods (for medicines, at the maximum dose recommended by the manufacturer); and if the goods are medicines in Schedule 4 or 8 of the Poisons Standard a prescription from an Australian-registered medical practitioner is held for the medicines.

            • @ScoMosas: Thanks for that. From the sounds of it, it does sound like you could probably buy overseas RAT kits that aren't registered in Australia so long as you're intending to use them personally or for your family.

I guess a related question is if whether there would be any issues in using these kits and any self-reporting requirements which some states may be putting in soon for positive results, given that some overseas brands may not be available in Australia. I would guess not, but who knows?

              • @GreenGuava: Panbio (Abbott) and Roche are available in India and approved by TGA too

  • Omg, by the time I saw the post on the front page of ozbargain…, Whoever in the business of manufacturing these tests must be…

  • This is the best self-test kit til now.

    • till now?

  • Managed to get one. Thanks OP.

  • This makes the $65 I paid at the pharmacy for this brand a little more reasonable.

  • How strict are the storage conditions? Most of Australia will get above 30 degrees over the next week or so and I assume most courier trucks would get way above that during many deliveries?

  • +4

In singapore for a holiday now. ART kits are readily avaliable bought these abbott ones in a kit of 10 for $10 SGD.

Happy to bring some back for any one that wants any. No profit will be made.

    • 10 kit for $10? That's cheap

      • There is no way that is the correct price for 10 test kits in Singapore.
        They are about $5 each.

  • +1

IMO RAT will be free soon. All the panic buying at the moment is chaotic and Fed/State governments will give them out for free to improve their polls - given it’s election year. Just my opinion.

  • Anyone have no estimated delivery date on their order too?

  • -4

suckers!! National cabinet: Australia to provide free RAT tests after push from Qld, The Prime Minister has done a huge backflip on rapid antigen tests, agreeing to make them free to all Australians.

    • maximum of 10 over 3 months for by the looks people on concessions cards and similar benefits etc.
Don't think there is any date yet set.
And well when things are free, expect even more made rushes at the start.

    • +1

      Not for all Australian

    • +3

No, not “free to all Australians”. Currently only for people with concession cards.

      • Oh bugger

        • But free to all Victorians

      • Idiot Liberals/Morrison. Gives away billions in JobKeeper to profitable businesses yet we pay thousands for the Medicare levy and can't get these.

  • Back in stock if anyone is interest. Dispatches in 8 days.

    • +1

      mind to share the link?

      • Wow, that went quick, same link as the deal. Did have an option to add to cart, and a message that it dispatches in 8 days. Looks like its gone again.

        https://ibb.co/dKGzNsR

  • Managed to get it, thanks!

  • +1

It is still there off and on, perhaps people who can soon get them free are cancelling returning some to stock.

  • +2
