      • Yeah you’ll have to have HomeHub to use - Apple TV, HomePod/mini or iPad.

  • +1

This one is also Homekit enabled and just $27 shipped? Any reason to get this? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003292313686.html?spm=a2…

    • +2

AliExpress means delivery times counted in months rather than days, better than average chance of it being an under-perfroming knockoff and successful delivery/actually shipped rate of around 70% with AliExpress compared to 99% in my experiences with Amazon.

After hundreds of orders from Ali's Express and Baba in the past five years, their deterioration of services and sheer volume of dishonest sellers who proliferated last year means I have abandoned the platform and will happily pay a little extra to source from somewhere more trustworthy and reliable these days.

      Just my opinion, YMMV…

      • +1

Sadly, that has been my experience as well.

      • That link above is from the manufacturers global store, not a reseller. The reviews seems to praise it and has a very high rating, most stating only 2 weeks for delivery as well.

        • Give it a go and find out.

          • +1

@damion: Already bought. $29 is a great buy currently as it is discounted and plenty positive feedback for the product on the Aliexpress site. Will update my post or even start a new 'deal' if installation goes smoothly as this one is nearly half the price of this deal and if it works great, will be a very good alternative to those who want Homekit native support and have a lower budget.

            • @dreamscene: One difference worth noting is that it doesn't seem to include compatibility with Android and Alexa, only HomeKit.

      • same

Can I connect these to the inside of my centsys sliding gate motor.

I'm looking for something that allows me to have app control and also provide notifications of when the gates are opened/closed.

    • I have the same question.

  • +1

    Showing $139 for me?

    • +1

Same. Looks like we missed out :(

      • (profanity)

        • (profanity)

          • @dangerdanger: It's only $70 on the melrose website with free shipping, no need to neck yourself mate.

  • Homekit is now $139.55

  • HomeKit version expired.

  • I tried to check the compatibility with my garage door SD800 Steel-line but I couldn’t find any wall button terminal to check. I only found a Program Button (P) and Plus (+) minus (-). Has anyone used it on their SD800? Also, Do we need to install safety beam in case it automatically closes on some obstructions?

    • +1

I have the SD800 and it is compatible. It has 4 terminals on the top. 2 for the switching and 2 for a 24v supply. To keep my cabling neat I used a 24v to USB adaptor to power the meross.

    • +1

This is the same one I have. Any instruction or YouTube video for installation?

    • +1

Pretty straightforward. It’s on the top with clamps to plug the wires into the two slots marked “Receiver”

      https://ibb.co/2vv6Kcn

  • Can you use google assistant on apple to open it up?

    • Yes, you can use google assistant but will have to set up a pin code via Meross app first.

This is what i have at home. I assume it doesnt work?

  • Not sure if my motor is compatible but took a punt.

  • Just buy it for $19 on AliExpress…

  • Link to homekit version?

  • Link?

  • Anybody have this working with Merlin Commander Elite?

    • I've got a Merlin PowerAce and it works, but your best bet is to go here:

      https://www.meross.com/compatibility

and check. Commander Elite isn't in the list, but check your unit for the actual model number (eg. MT1000 etc) and it might be there. If not, contact them and they'll help you.

      • Page not found

Also I have a Merlin Powerace. Is it simple enough to install? I may pull the trigger

Edit: page works on PC, didn't work on my phone for some reason

        • Yep super simple. Does your box on the roof have a hole in the back cover with a green button on the inside that you can push to open/close the door? If so, you simply open that cover, pull that green button out, and put the 2 wires from the Meross box in to those 2 holes.

    • I use it with Merlin Commander Elite MS105MYQ - works perfectly

  • Does this work with a rollerdoor and where would the magnets be mounted on the rollerdoor to signal its closed?

    • You mount the standalone magnet on the actual roller door, somewhere near the edge, and then the magnet connected to the sensor wire on the wall next to it so it will line up with the one on the door when the door is closed.

  • Damn!! Missed out..was after 2. Hopefully they come back on sale in the next couple of months.

Seems Homekit version available on the official site $70.64, free delivery when I plugged in my address.

    https://shop.meross.com/products/smart-wifi-garage-door-open…

    • Thanks, purchased one through the website.

    • Note - this will likely ship from China, so you'll be waiting a while before you get it!

    • +3

      Extra $5 off Code: MSG100HK5
brings price down to $45 USD = approx. $63 AUD incl. shipping

    • Thanks mate

    • Just received mine. Only took 2 weeks. Thanks for the heads up @blurn, and @OOXX for the discount code.

  • Ah damn, really wanted the Homekit version - sold out!

    Great price OP! :)

  • +2

These are fantastic, bought mine months ago but only just got around to hooking it up. Super simple installation once you know where you need to plug the 2 wires in, and their support is amazingly fast replying to emails - I couldn't get it working, emailed them with the model and within 5 minutes they replied back with a diagram and told me exactly where to plug the 2 wires in. Opening the garage door with my Apple Watch just feels like I'm living in the future haha.

Don't even need to take house keys with me when I go out now! Now I just need a digital drivers license to hurry up and come to QLD and I won't even need to take my wallet.

    • Just don't loose your phone.

      • +3

Why? They're opening the garage with their watch?

    • Which house lock are you using that support homekit?

      • +2

Might simply gain entry to house via garage?

      • Just going in via the garage.

  • Damn missed the HomeKit version. If anyone wants to cancel their order let me know :)

  • I've got Homebridge set up to connect non homekit devices to my Homekit

Very tempted at this price to try the non home-kit version. Just not sure if I'll get the exact same features as the homekit version.

  • +1

Bought the non-Homekit version and just setup Siri to open my garage door using IFTTT.

A bit tricky but can be done…

    https://help.ifttt.com/hc/en-us/articles/360053753113-Use-Si…

    • +1

Thanks for this, didn’t realise I wanted the HomeKit version til after I installed the non-HomeKit. I use google devices at home so HomeKit wasn’t necessary, but realised I have iPhone/CarPlay and thought how cool it would be to have it linked to CarPlay.

The solution you linked was about 5mins work, and absolutely works perfectly!

  • Can you still use the traditional remote control for opening whilst also having the capability for automatic opening? Asking as our younger son still uses the remote as he doesn't have a phone yet.

    • +1

      Yes

      • Cool, thanks

        • +1

This basically takes over the role of a manual push to open/close button on the actual unit on the roof, so you will lose that functionality.

          • @MrFunSocks: or you can splice in the wires and have both, right? that's what I did with mine

  • Can you use this to control a chicken coop door?

    Like here https://hackaday.io/project/176927-automatic-chicken-coop-do…

  • Does anyone know if you can use this with a Merlin Tiltmaster MT100EVO - https://www.gomerlin.com.au/product/tiltmaster/

This model isn't shown on the Meross website as being compatible, so I've emailed them to find out but was hoping someone here might know.

    • +1

      Yes, pins 1&2.

      • Thanks, ordered one

      • +1

It arrived today and I've already installed it.

        It works great

  • Anyone can advise what is the actual difference between Home kit version and Non-home kit version?

    • -1

Home kit version works with home kit, other one doesn't.

      • is that means for IOS device, you need home Kit version.
And if I only have Android device, Google nest Hub etc, Non-home Kit version will be enough to use?

        • +1

No, you don't need the homekit version for iOS. I don't use homekit for anything but have an iPhone and I got the non-homekit version and it works perfectly with my phone and apple watch. I've got google home/nest devices and it works with them.

  • Damn.. can’t see our garage brand on the compatibility list.

  • I got the Meross Collie and it worked perfect with my sliding gate and garage door via HomeKit. Highly recommend.

  • Thanks OP. Finally bought 1

  • There should be new matter gear released soon

  • Will this work for Merlin Professional Silent Drive 850?

  • How is the battery life on the door sensor? My iSmartgate eats batteries at a disturbing rate, and they’re an obscure size that is hard to find affordably.

    • +2

The sensor kit consist of a magnetic bar - attached to the door, and the sensor which has a cable running to the main unit these you fix to the garage wall. I Hage a centre mounted motor so the cable runs along the top and mounts to the wall in the centre of the wall at the closed position. The magnet bar fixed to the top of the door. They align when closed. So long story short - no battery.

      • Oh this is good…thanks for the info.

  • Good find. These are brilliant units. I have the non HomeKit version and whilst I wish I got it I use it all the time via phone

  • Can you have it configured in two phones?

    • Yes, you just sign in on the app on whatever phone you want.

  • Seeing as the HomeKit version is unavailable at that price, anyone try the regular version with Home Assistant?

  • so correct me if i'm wrong, but the 'HomeKit' ver (now OOO), simply adds use with Apple stuff right?
The 'non Homekit' unit is good for Android / Google?

    • I am having the same question, so I am using a Android phone, and my wife use Iphone, not sure if Non-homekit version can also working on iphone

      • If there’s a use case that involves iPhones/apple devices then use the HomeKit version.

If not you’ll have to use the meross app or google home app on your iDevice. Also Siri won’t be able to open it, so won’t CarPlay. We’ll worth the extra 13 bucks imo.
