The non-homekit version works for iOS too, you just don't get the siri integration. I don't use siri or homekit stuff but use an iPhone and apple watch and installed the non-homekit version and it's great.
The non-homekit version, I speak to siri "open garage" and it opens (and "close garage") perfectly well using this method:

Is it possible to flip the open closed states? I want to place the sensor in a fashion in which when the magnets are together it is open, and when the magnets are apart it is closed.
Yup, you can. Just place the sensors next to each other when the gate is open and fix them there, exactly the way you described.
but one thing to be aware of is that its possible that you can get incorrect information after inverse installation.
because in normal operation the status is shown as closed only when the sensor is next to magnet, any other positions of the two is considered open which will be correct.
but in inverse installation the status is closed when magnet is not next to the sensor which will be true if the gate was actually closed or open anywhere from 0% to ~98%. so even if your gate is half open it will say its closed. and it will say its open only when its 100% open.
Actually I just double checked in the app and found their software does not have option for inverse operation (probably for above reason). I thought I'd seen that feature, sorry for giving false hope earlier.

Did everyone receive their orders? Mine is overdue and Amazon has just informed me that the seller has marked my item as lost and are wanting to issue a refund rather than send the product at the discounted price .. poor form by the seller.
Mine hasn't been delivered but is now "unexpectedly delayed" with expected delivery Feb 7. According to the product page the item is still in stock but available for delivery Feb 8. I'd be pushing back with Amazon asking them to resend it if the seller is saying it's been lost. Currently listed at another $30 over what you've bought it for doesn't sit well with me.
I followed up with Amazon and then Meross AU sales directly, surprisingly, it now says that it'll be delivered today. I hope it comes, but, the seller has lost a lot of credibility. I assume they're hoping people ask for refunds so that they can sell the same stock at the now higher price point.

If you contact the shop directly a called Gray Mc ([email protected]) who is in customer support there will price match it, down to US$39.95, which cost me $57.35 delivered for the homekit version. Only downside is it ships from China, but looking at all the supply problems people are having with this local deal it might be a plus to get it direct from China.
