  • Just note there's no cashback / Socialgood for this one ;)

    • Why not?

    • +2

im 99% sure Clear is correct but i got a reply from SocialGood email about aliexpress criteria (need affil or not) they just said:

Please read the store conditions. These explain what items are eligible. You can check the store conditions in the app by going to the "Shopping" tab and tapping on the name of the store you plan to shop at.

when i go there actually there are no mentioned about afiliate at all. they say search from the app, dont preadd to cart, dont use app, activate each time, dont buy "recommended for you". items that do not appears in the search do not qualify for SG.

so, yeah. A MYSTERY —- just like other cashback scheme.. its all about gambling

      • +1

Use the link checker that Cashrewards link. Cashrewards, Shopback and Socialgood all fall under the same affiliate program and the same rules apply.

But hey it's up to you if you want to take the risk. I know AliExpress inside out so I take the risk.

        • nope i wont take risk.

"I know AliExpress inside out so I take the risk." you meant you will not ?

          • @CyberMurning: I'll take the risk of getting SG cashback on those that are affiliated.

        • I suppose there’s no workaround for the GST component? It adds up very quickly even with the discount codes. ;(

      • +1

I went to SocialGood official Telegram channel and asked about affiliated product specification. They told me as long as you can search the products in SG App, it's eligible for their cash back program. The ones you can't find from their app are not eligible as you cannot buy them with SG portal.

    • Clear, in your opinion, are we allowed to use coupons for SocialGood cashback in general?

      • In my experience they've tracked but I'm not at a stage where I can cash out.

AliExpress offer big incentives to their affiliate partners to push coupons. It should be no different for Socialgood.

        • Thanks mate

Every android and apple tablet (and phone) sends location data to its makers, regardless of your location settings. This Permissionless Location Tracking can only be remedied with a custom ROM, available only on select few android devices.

im fine with that.. goverment already tracking us with covid checkin anyway

        • It's useful to see all the many places you went to which had a COVID case

  • For people looking for an alternative similar product that is affiliated - the same coupon can apply to this P11 Plus (which I just ordered through socialgood app!):

edit: and comparison by Clear can be found here :)

    • The display and battery are worse off in the P11 Plus variant.

      • Yep, that's correct, but also slightly cheaper, and if you're looking for socialgood option then its there.

  • can you play Minecraft Java Edition????

    • -3

      Yes. Just not on this.

  • Any issues playing Netflix contents?

    • No but they won't be on fhd depending what rom it's using

    • I am using the Pro Pad as I write this… Assuning it gets flashed with a global ROM, Netflix works well. No issues and shows Widevine 1 supported.

The official keyboard/case is good quality too, but adds about double to the weight of the tablet.

  • Wow. Looks like an awesome media tablet. However value wise I think the TouchPad Chromebook for under $300 deal is the bomb.
    speakers are very average though

  • Does this come with the pen and keypad?

    • No it doesn't.

  • 120hz 90hz?

    • +1

      60hz, 2021 version is 90hz.

  • What would be a good stylus for this tablet?
Can I expect Samsung S-pen type of precision?

  • Any deals for the 2021 version?

    • +2

Prices are above US$400, so thought the 2020 version to be the better deal.

  • In 1 year I'll be so slow, and another paper weight

    • +6

      Maybe you should start exercising?

      • +3

Imagine your New Years resolution is to become a paper weight xD

      • I think you should buy it, then do a Win update, restart it, wait 3 hours and enjoy the super fast mobile phone CPU. Run some applications and then BSOD, then try to sell it as a paper weight.

    • You don't need a paper weight to be fast.

  • Would love to get one of these…. If the display wasn't pentile.

    • Honestly, it shouldn't be too noticeable.
I think PenTile was very annoying back on the Samsung S1 and S2 (233 ppi). Also pretty noticeable on the Samsung Note 1 (285 ppi) and not noticeable at all with the Samsung Note 3 (386 ppi). So I think the cut-off rate is around 360ppi where RGB/PenTile become blended.

This Lenovo Tab 11 Pro has a density of 383 ppi.

      • I'd mainly be using it with apps that are text heavy, and my experience with an RGBW panel has put me off ever cheaping out on a display again.

        • You have a point there.

But the reason to using a PenTile display is to make things like text more detailed. Here's how it works; when you arrange the subpixels in that diamond pattern, you can share each subpixel with its neighbour, so you get "more out of less" in a sense. This helps battery life, especially when used on an OLED.

So if you want a more Apples to Apples comparison, a 3840 x 2160 PenTile pixels is more akin to a 3200 x 1800 RGB pixels, or 2560 x 1440 RGBW pixels arrangement. And between the three, the PenTile offers far greater detail.

Or you can just imagine this as a (219 ppi) "2133 x 1333" resolution in RGB :\
Or you can just imagine this as a (175 ppi) "1707 x 1067" resolution in rgbW :(

@Kangal: I had a look at the screen on this one specifically, in the hopes that it didn't affect text, but was sadly disappointed. In my opinion, the standard P11 looks better.

Another image comparing to the S7

Anyway, no biggie, bought the Xiaomi Pad 5 for 'free' (100% SG cashback).

            • @NobalaKoba: Interesting pics, the 11 Pro really doesn't look sharp. Thanks for the upload.
              Hmmm….

edit: I just realised I made a mistake.
The 11 Pro screen does NOT have a ppi of 383. It has a SIZE of 383 cm2. It's actual density is 263ppi. Which is somewhat low. So yes, that's below the 360ppi limit I mentioned earlier where PenTile/RGB blends together. It is slightly lower than the Samsung Note 1's (285ppi) that I mentioned earlier.

edit2: Your particular screen has FOUR stuck pixels, and ONE dead pixel. The other displays are in a better condition.

edit3: The Lenovo Tab P11 looks worse/less detailed overall. Which makes sense when you look at it's display resolution of 2000 x 1200. When looking at the text, lower-case "t" looks sharper on the RGB display since it aligns properly, but not the lower-case "l" which mis-aligns, and on the P11 Pro the rounded "a" and "o" look much better.

Versus the high-quality display on the Tab S7, there's areas where the Samsung is much much better like the "l" and the "t". And most of the rest the characters look slightly sharper. The characters of "o" and "r" look somewhat equal between the two.

              • @Kangal: Just to clarify, those aren't my pics. They're taken from an online review.

The xiaomi doesn't use a pentile display, so I think I'll be happier with it. Same resolution, but sadly not OLED.

  • Does this play Netflix in Full HD currently (Widevine L1?)

    • +1

Yeah. As long as the bootlocker remains locked it should be fine.

    • I'm using it for media, netflix, stan, kayo mainly. The screen is really good. I must admit I havent noticed the pentile arrangement issues at all, but that could be my eyesight more than anything. The sound is fairly decent… Dolby Atmos tuned JBL speakers.
