This thread serves to let everyone know how much you have saved on your 7/11 fuel app. Please see the archived thread (January 2017 - January 2022) for previous discussions.

Step 1: Subscribe to this thread to get email updates. You can change your subscription settings in your Ozbargain account to enable more/less email updates.

Step 2: Upon filling up simply fill in the details in this format:

  • NAME OF 7/11 STORE
  • PETROL TYPE
  • PETROL PRICE

      Without root would only work for Android 5.0 and below, which wouldn't work with the current 7/11 app because they have a minimum Android version for download I think it is Android 8 or above

    Fuel prices are at it's highest since 2008. I suppose we should all fill up now and wait for it to hit.

      Yeah, I'm locking U91 for 171.7 before the next rise.

      PS, Yellow & blue for Ukraine, he also kinda looks like a Simpsons character now. They're also West Coast Eagles colours.

        This is true, I'm sure the Simpsons will come up with something soon enough. Diesel hasn't fallen in ages. WIll fill up the motorbike, all of 15L, then I should be fully stocked. Wonder if it's worthwhile to buy the jerry cans and fill em up with diesel. I don't do too much driving though.

    7/11 appears to be removing the fuel offering from the store (at least on the app and website store locator) if it's above 220cpl
    Seems like anything higher than 220cpl they're literally just removing the fuel offering off the Store Locator map (App AND Website)

    Check out the below 7/11 stations as an example
    Mango Hill, QLD 4509 - App's embedded Store Locator
    7/11 online store locator

    Artarmon, NSW 2064 - App's embedded Store Locator
    7/11 online store locator
    Artarmon definitely has 95 and 98 pumps
    Seems to have both fallen off the map

    Mosman, NSW 2088 - App's embedded Store Locator
    7/11 online store locator

    NONE of them have any 98 fuel offered anymore
    In my real-world experience, all the 7/11 stations had 91 and 98. E10 and 95 were the ones you needed to check for.

    PetrolSpy has the right prices though (looks like crowd-sourced data?, change type to 98)
    Normally Supreme 98+ price is U91 price +20c
    The fuel price for PetrolSpy for 91 matches the 7/11 app data, but the 98 offering is missing.

      Is it intentional removal? It’s not widespread.

      Balcatta, WA shows P95 for 221.9 and P98 for 229.9 in the store locator. Prices in WA are going up tomorrow, some stores will have U91 above 220. You can check prices here.

        I'm not sure if the threshold is 230 or 24
        I just noticed it at the higher priced stores

        7-Eleven Queens Park will be 218.9 for ULP, that should trigger the same issue (P98 will then be expected to go to 238.9)

    Family and I tried using our 98 fuel locks today, had to call the store beforehand because a lot of them had run out (including 91 and 95) eastern suburbs, so get in quick before your 98 fuel lock expires

        That comment doesn't make any sense.

        If it's not costing them anything, why would they be upset with getting more customers?

        Many customers would spend money buying other things instore, even if it's just a coffee & muffin….

        Less customers = less profit…

    is the expiry time shown on the fuel lock is adjusted based on each person's timezone ?
    i am aware that it is 7 days expiry from locking time but i am not sure it whether it is showing which timezone

      Hi there I've got 3 spare android phones retired from family members that i've been trying to get updated to android 10/11/12 but so far no luck, with each phone having its own problems (they are all huawei/oppo ones and are on android 6, 7 etc) so since i’ve spent so much time just trying to get to step 1 on the instructions, i thought about buying a cheap one from gumtree so i can just move on and start rooting… if it can save me $20 buck at each refill, i can make my money back easily…what are your thoughts on this phone?

        First need to find out whether they can be bootloader unlocked.
        I would have high hopes on the OPPO phone.

        Go find one that has custom ROMs on xda-developers.com
        My preferred chopper phones of choice is non-Samsung flagship phones because they're more popular and therefore higher chance of having a LineageOS developed for them
        Samsung phone's have a pesky partition system that requires ODIN tool to send it through
        Specifically Pixels are easy to work with.

        some cheaper phones run on the "android go" version so I'm not sure if that affects the rooting.

        In my experience, Android Go phones are on budget/entry level phones only, thus.. have a lower chance of bootloader unlocking availabilities/custom ROMs developed

        Below is my list of phones in service:
        - Nexus 6P
        - Pixel 2
        - Pixel 2XL
        - Samsung A20 (VAP + XSA)
        - Samsung S6+ Edge (G928i)
        - Sony Xperia Z5
        - Sony Xperia Z5c
        - Xiaomi Mi5s

        Other phones I've also had success on:
        - Moto G8

        I've never dared to go to Android 12 (Android 10/11 is sufficient for 7/11)

        Also can i confirm the phone does not need celluar signal/sim card to get gps data. (i'll be using this phone w/ no sim card solely for fuel locking purpose).

        All my chopper phones are Wifi-Connected only (with the exception of one private chopper phone).
        So as long as it has GPS capabilities, I don't see why it won't work.

    I have a spare HTC u11, and installed PixelExperience11- ROM on it(https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-10-0-11-0-pixel-exper…). I have been using magisk for ages, but recently my afterMagisk 23 my safety net CTSprofile fails. Installed SafetyNet fix 1.2 still no luck, the seven11 app freezes when I open it. According to your guide, I think I need to manually fix cts but wasn't sure if I use the manufacturer as HTC or Google pixel.

      Did you add Google Play store to deny list in Magisk?
      Not sure of that would help.

        Still using Magisk 23.0 no deny list, i have Magisk hide and hide magisk app feature.

        I used HTC u11 but still CTS fails. shall I update the Magisk and try again??

          I have a Pixel 2XL on Android 11, and the resolution ended up being Safetynet 2.2.1 (Zygisk)

          You can try the below safetynet version 2.1.1 which doesn't mention Riru or Zygisk

          There appears to be two issues:
          - 7/11 launches with "Your device isn't supported, do a factory reset" - I believe this is root detected (Magisk Hide can address this but I'm not 100% certain, this is available only up to Magisk 23.0, 24.0 and higher have MagiskHide removed, DenyList is in 24.0)
          - 7/11 launches, but upon a fuel lock request, E01 error = Safetynet Profile fail

          Yours is a bit funny because 7/11 isn't even launching.

            @cwongtech: Installing pixel CTS fingerprint made SafetyNet pass, but still, 7eleven app lanches, but when I open the fuel lock screen nothing happens. Shall I try to Factory reset and install Magisk23.0 again or try Magisk 24.0 and test. what is your Magisk version on your pixel?

              7eleven app lanches, but when I open the fuel lock screen nothing happens.

              So it starts without the "device not supported"

              I had a weird issue before, can you try go to store locator and see if your location is being recognised?

              I had four chopper phones all randomly stop recognising their locations.
              Even in maps, the phones couldn't recognise their real location..

              Strangely, setting the GPS location using the App Ninja's GPS app would fix that.
              Before nuking your phone, try re-installing 7/11 app first

                No, it's not able to locate the location, neither map is able to recognize the location. When I set location in App Ninja I can see the location in Maps getting updated. but on 7/11 app, the location is still frozen to the last set.
                I tried resetting the 7/11 app, still no luck. What next step do you recommend?

                  At that point in time, I believe I had to reconfigure the phone from scratch
                  At each step of the way to configure it, I was checking whether the maps was able to recognise the location or not.
                  I wasn't able to find what caused my location to be completely stuck and unrecognisable (apart from using the GPS set app to set it manually)

                  You can try to uninstall smali patcher module first and turn off mock locations in dev settings to see if it restores Google Map's ability to locate where your phone is, but most likely you will need to start again :|

    Fuel lock not actually showing the best local price for anyone else?
    Put the coordinates in the chopper, and 7-Eleven knows where I am, but the store with the best price just doesn't show up, and it goes to the next cheapest store.

    Edit: is refinery just out of date? Its prices are very different to projectzerothree

      The sure fire way to check the live pricing is through either the store locator in the 7/11 app (settings)
      Or use the 7/11's store locator on their website

      Looks like refinery's information is stale, need Vu to fix it up.

    I have a question … Sorry I'm not an expert, so I don't know…

    Can two-person fill in two different pumps in the same station, and pay together scanning one 7/11 card?

    Example. Myself and my brother go to Braybrook 7-eleven station in two different cars, and I fill 50 Liter in pump 2 and he fills 40L in pump 3, and I pay for both together scanning the lock for 186.9. Do they allow that?

      Yes, the redemption is per transaction.

      You can pay for multiple pumps in one transaction.

      I saved $40 yesterday topping up 2 cars.

      (Max 150 litres though)

        Nice didn't think you could do that. I just use to put cars on either side of pump and passed the nozzle.
        Obviously not when it was super busy else just being an ass.

          I thought that was the only way?
          From memory someone mentioned there's a button that detects when you put the pump handle back into the holder and that creates a second itemized line for fuel if you try to pump again?

          But I could be wrong

          Would be interesting if someone else can confirm JV's experience

            @cwongtech: This is what the T & C says (source here);

            Each Fuel Lock may only be redeemed against one transaction. If you purchase multiple fuel items in a single transaction (of the same fuel type as the Fuel Lock), the Fuel Lock will apply to all fuel items purchased in that transaction, subject to the maximum specified above.

                @cwongtech: How I read the quote from DaBz, it should. Similar to filling up my car with petrol and LPG (of course from different pumps), it'll be two separate line items within the same transaction at time of payment - just let them know all the pump numbers, if not the same. Fills of the same fuel type from multiple pumps, or the same pump in separate fills, as long as they're paid in the same transaction it should apply. If it doesn't, I'd argue to them it goes against their T&Cs.

                I don't have multiple vehicles so can't test the theory myself, but surely we can trust jv!

                I've done it often… As long as you pay in the one transaction.

                They don't care how many pumps you pay for at once… They system won't allow you to get a discount for more than 150L though.

        I'm even too surprised to see JV's comment without his signature style.
        Even I'm confident that JV is serious about it.

        I might be filling it in 3-4 days, hopefully, I'll get someone to try it together… I'll keep you guys updated.

          I while ago I tried to pay for both pumps and the fuel lock was only for the amount of fuel from that pump. It was a while ago though. So who knows.

            As cwongtech mentioned, it's just for us to educate ourselves, since the fuel lock T&C, JV, and you have very contradictory experiences.

    So I was just thinking, is it possible to tamper the app so that you are able to change the price of petrol at a servo? Given all the app does is search for a price around a place, if you can change the price at a servo then it would assume that is price snd lock that in? For educational purposes that is

      Once you work that out, maybe then you can work out how to change prices on Amazon and eBay and post back…

        I saw a news channel report a few hours ago that someone said that fuel prices will drop after a fortnight.

        Can we wait it out?

          Crude oil steadily climbed from $66/b to $92 from Dec to before the war. Since the war it spiked to $123 on 8 March. It's now $109 US per barrel. Over $2/L for U91 will be around for awhile. Prices will of course drop but then rise again. Unleaded is usually in a 4 week price cycle.

      I think yesterday, briefly, Diesel was the cheapest on the entire list. That quickly corrected itself.

          For that to happen, the govt needs to push for more work from home. Letting people who REALLY need to travel to have empty roads. But no, they're selfish, they want their city centres to be bustling again. We don't owe them or their dam city centres anything.

              Which is a good thing, provided the dam trains work. On the way home, my team were stuck on the metro in Sydney for an hour, which was then terminated. They took a cab and split the far. On the way in, the trains went along super slow, making everyone super late.
