If you plan on connecting a Hisense TV to a standard modern audio receiver or sound bar expect trouble (like audio output settings that need to be enabled manually every time the TV is switched on as Hisense TV doesn’t save them) for which there are no fixes. Have had similar trouble with 2 separate large screen Hisense models. Hisense clearly don’t test or support their TVs enough is my conclusion and they never release any firmware fixes. “Hisense TVs aren’t compatible with everything” was their support’s final answer. Never again.

That's weird, I've got two hisense tvs (65R8 and 55mu) that have been hooked up to two different soundbars (sony and sonos) and two audio receivers (yamaha and sony) and have never had any issues.
But I have had an issue with with the R8 and arc with my ps5. I spoke with warranty support at Hisense and they were happy to send out a tech.
Did you go direct to warranty support? Try factory reset etc? I'm not defending Hisense, they are less than perfect, but my tvs have ran pretty solidly with multiple connections. I'm curious what's going wrong. All of my sound settings stay fixed on both sets unless I alter them, unless you are allowing the audio systems to control the tv's settings and that's where the issue is happening? If I allow control via ARC I'm not able to change the settings…

      • Thanks. 75 inch Hisense. Turning on ARC (i.e. HDMI-CEC) setting on Hisense for my Yahama audio receiver - my Hisense TV setting never saves/remembers that setting. I need to manually enable ARC setting every time the TV is turned on in order for the receiver to work. Receiver doesn't turn on via ARC when the TV turns on either, even though it's set to turn on automatically in the Hisense setting. Yahama has ARC enabled in it's own settings, so nothing obviously wrong with the Yamaha receiver or HDMI cables. Hisense support had no answers after more than an hour on the phone which included doing a factory reset and hard reset. Second Hisense TV (recent model) I set up which I set to use ARC for a new TCL sound bar. The Hisense ARC setting which enables the TCL sound bar disables itself whenever changing the Hisense TV HDMI input despite manually enabling it on all HDMI inputs. No fixes/options from support. Not warranty issues but hardware compatibility issues, I'm informed. There's other issues too, but these are enough to mention.

        • Ahhh that sucks.
It sounds like a similar realm of issue with my ps5 if it relates to ARC. The 65R8 often doesn't pickup 4k HDR a lot of the time and I have to turn off hdmi enhanced and then switch it back on to pick it up. Definitely sounds like a systemic product fault. My worry with my arc issue is that its an on and off again issue, so it could be hard to demonstrate to the tech repair guy. I've been logging the occurances before the tech comes out. I don't want to get hung with a bill for a non-demonstratable issue.
I guess I've been lucky with all of my audio systems and the two tvs then. It would sh!t me no end to have those issues as I love my audio.
Sorry to hear all that with your issues and no doubt the time and frustration it would have brought with it. I guess we're going to another brand next then huh.
Hisense have real sweet spot with pricing and functionality, but they are slipping with support and updating these issues. That said, Sony support have been supremely f-ing horrible to deal with over the last couple years with an audio product issues (4 returns for same issue with terrible communication) and a ps5 issue that they tried to get me to pay to fix…. so even the big expensive brands can suck too.

    • I second this notion of Hisense TVs not being all that great with sound bars. I've got a Sony HTX8500 sound bar and my Hisense TV is always wrangling with it - particularly if the TV has been on for a bit and the sound bar has gone to sleep, when audio starts playing again and HDMI-CEC does its thing to switch the sound bar on, the TV always switches between a refresh rates and it's a few seconds before I'm able to see or hear anything. When we're in a rush to watch something, these few seconds matter dangit!
