  • I have the LR in an older model. Works well but I would get 2 of the shorter range units now

    • why is that?

      • Just in the very corners of the house it can be a bit patchy. I've also read a lot of negative about the LRs

        • The 6 LR isn't equivalent to the original LR. Actually closer to what the pro was.

          • @kulprit: Mine isn't the original one. I think it is the model before wifi 6. I still think no matter how good the new one is I would be better off with 2. The downside is extra cabling of course but my house is easy to cable. If you search for this there is a lot of debate so there's likely no right answer.

  • Wish sydneytech would drop the price of their dream machine Pro as well.

  • I've been wanting to upgrade my wireless router.

I have a few devices connected by ethernet, though. Will I need a router (I currently have ASUS AC-68U) in place to handle DHCP? Or can I swap it out for a small d-link ethernet switch I have on hand? (Incoming connection is HFC, so will need the Arris in place).

Edit: never mind. Comments on previous deals made it clear.

NBN = NBN modem -> router -> ubiquiti. As the d-link switch doesn't have DHCP, it will need an actual router. If the dropouts I'm experiencing are due to my router having issues, the wireless won't help me.

That's correct but you need more than just dhcp, you need routing.

  • U6-LR or nanoHD?

  • I'm using two u6 lites and they are rocking. Just don't update to the latest firmware if you want your windows laptops to connect at 5ghz.

    • are you on the early access firmware? i'm using UDM pro + two u6 lites all on latest EA firmware with no issue.
