    $6248.75

    • The 20% off Dell Ebay store voucher code takes off 1k

      • So not 20% off. Just $1000 off.

        • Yep. T&C says "This offer entitles you to 20% off the pre-coupon purchase price (excluding postage costs) on Eligible Items during the Offer Period, up to a maximum discount of $1,000 per transaction.".

  • can we add another 3090 on it?

    • +2

      Doubt it on that PSU

      • thanks only 750w

        • -3

It's a platinum rated PSU that will be enough. The system has no capability to overclock so you don't need more power. If it was able to be overclocked then it would struggle.

          • @[Deactivated]: A single 3090 can consume over 400w at peak

            • @DmytroP: Everybody on the ozbargain forum is an expert except the biggest PC maker in the world. You all need to check your facts before just talking. I ran through four system power calculator and the highest one is from Newegg which comes up at 658w for this system. The only issue is the majority of calculators don't have DDR5 listed so it might be another 10-20w over the figures. But clearly the PSU, especially since it's platinum rated, which for those of you who don't understand will be capable of delivering above the 750w rated and much closer to 800w. So it's plenty.

Here is one of the tests:

              • @[Deactivated]: The original question was about adding another 3090 to the build.

                • @DmytroP: That was a sarcastic comment to say it's not enough.

                  • @[Deactivated]: Why? The multi GPU systems are commonly used for machine learning tasks, with 3090 being the common choice due to 24GB of VRAM, so it's a valid question IMHO.

                    • @DmytroP: Then I've misread the discussion. The same comments were made on the XPS 8950 and it seemed to continue on here. But perhaps that's not the case. However, given it's a single GPU motherboard it's a rather confusing question if serious.

  • omg that price .. if only i bought bitcoin 10 years ago….

    • You mean you wish you had mined them when it was first introduced?

  • not too bad

  • I had this on my watch list waiting for this 20% deal, strangely the price has gone further down from 17% off last night to %21 off rrp

750W customized PSU…. it is better to DIY, as this PSU will limit your future system upgrade

  • +3

All those nice ridiculously high specs and they stick a 10 year old 1TB 7200RPM spinning disk in it???

    • +2

It's an expensive system. They include the drive so that when it frustrates you, you can take out one component and smash it to reduce your tension without any detriment. A bit like office space and the printer.

    • +1

Plus a set of e-waste Dell kb & mouse too!

      this is the newer version

Thx op, dad bought one. Hopefully I can beg him for the 3090 :)

  • No Thunderbolt on an $8K machine in 2022. Lol.

    • +2

Isn't a Thunderbolt more relevant to a laptop than a desktop? For a laptop it makes sense to reduce the number of cables and have clean connection to a hub but it's not really that necessary for a desktop.

    • +2

      This, truly this.

  • +1

Memory and storage is a bit of a joke for a $5000+ machine with a $8000 RRP. Considering they aren't that expensive, you'd expect they would give at least 64gb RAM and 2TB+ SSD really.

    • what's worse is a wired kbd

  • $8k RRP and still comes with hard drive tech older than some OzBargainers reading this?!?! 1Tb HDD…. bwhahahahaha

Come on, get real. So many Alienware fanboi's voting up this deal. Neg away me hearties.

    • +1

I'm not a Alienware fanboi and the final price here is 5.2k, who cares about RRP.
3090 card + 12th Gen i9 12900KF will already cost you +4.5k so it's not a bad price when you can't be bothered doing your own build (which will def cost you more than 5.2k)
And storage can be easily upgraded for cheap.

  • +1

I hate that I laugh in my head about Dell overpricing prebuilts, only to realise that you can't actually build it for cheaper in the current market.

  • Might be a ridiculous question but can this be salary sacrificed? :-D

    • Of course! you got to sacrifice big chunk of your salary to buy this :)

      • Haha… Know that part.. Just want to know that if you are in IT, can you do salary "packaging" for this or if not, can you claim some tax back on this?

        • Def you can, I did claim my Alienware long long ago before, and my accountant got no issue submit that in for my tax return.

    • I would be surprised if you could. ATO generally only allows "portable" devices for salary packaging. You may be able to claim through tax return, but you would not be able to do an immediate write-off, but would have to depreciate the business-use percentage of initial cost over a number of years.
