Aww man….where's the 5600x with the 6800 XT deal?

  • +2

Not bad but waiting for a 3060 ti deal personally!

    • yeah 3060Ti more than enough if price difference is $350+ apart

  • +2

Any intel 12th gen deals coming? Maybe with the 12400f and some 'budget' class GPU's, or even no gpu.

    • We're starting to see Alder Lake CPUs and mobos come into supply. Haven't had many calls for it just yet though. Demand doesn't "feel" strong at this point when 10th gen in particular is still very compelling.

    • I’d like this too!

  • Hi Luke, is it possible to alter the ram stick to RGB? cheers. Jason

    • Unfortunately not something we can guarantee in our model Jason. You can request it in order notes and we'll allocate RGB stock if it's on hand at the time but as we get various brands/models I can't guarantee it for you.

      • I see. Also I thought I saw that you can change the case, is that not possible anymore? Cheers Jason

        • With so many container delays MSI, Deepcool etc are unavailable at present. Distributors hope to have more at the end of the month/Feb, but can't give us timings so we can't list.

  • The boxing Day deal with the Ryzen 5600x and 3080 for 2388 was a better deal than this :( Im disappointed

    • +2

The GPU market looks to be getting worse rather than better, playing the waiting game can be a let down.

      • If you put it that way, then I regret not buying the boxing day deal. Damn it.

Hard to justify the price premium for AMD over the Intel deal (not techfast's fault, just current pricing). That said, great to see some reasonably-priced WiFI motherboard upgrades.

  • Considering the 3070 ti's are around $1700 (I think) not a too shabby price for rest of PC system, well it's all built-up ready to go

Hi Luke, how much extra you normally charge if we want you to ship together the original GPU box packing please?

    • -1

Hi Luke have to ask also,. as the GPU is installed in system, isn't there a worry during delivery cause of the weight of the GPU it getting twisted/at worst snapped off, wouldn't it be better to send GPU in original box with system and let the buyer instal GPU? (Is that an option?), well since the GPU also is the most expensive part of the system

      • +3

They've shipped thousands of these, do we really need to be questioning their shipping practises

        • +1

Never bought one with a heavy expensive GPU, why I asked but below comment and yours has removed my worries but it be nice to also have original box of GPU with foam inserts etc, so probably still an option of posting the GPU packed in its original box, Luke? (of course with PC system) and I'm certainly happy to pay extra for postage/handling costs, just good to have the original GPU box for resale purposes and it's safer/easier to deliver also

      • Previous system I had delivered had heaps of soft foam packed internally. I was pretty worried too but was happy when we received it. Still worthwhile checking all cables are connected correctly (and they haven't put a sticker over a case USB as they couldn't make the cable fit… That was dodgey).

      • +1

There is an option for having the GPU shipped separately at checkout to avoid this scenario, yes. We use air packaging very firmly packaged filling the entire void to protect GPUs in transit, but yes the option is there to have it shipped uninstalled. There is no extra cost for this.

          Good to know, Thx Luke!

Hey OzBargain PC genius'. I've had my PC since 2013 and, well, its time for an upgrade. I've been hesitant over the last 12 months because of the crazy prices of GFX cards.

Anyone able to sway me on if this is 'the deal'? I am more than capable of building my own but I am a little out of touch with the technology so I am not up to speed on which CPU and GFX I should be aiming for.

I am the type of guy that subscribes to the philosophy of 'dump a lot of money on a PC and ride that sucker for a long time before replacing' :)

    • +1

I personally will be waiting a bit longer. I don't think this is 'the deal'

      • +1

2035 is shaping up to be a good year for a new system.

      • +1

Yeh I would wait until later in the year personally, if you are wanting the best. You are basically buying at the peak in regards to GPU prices and also at the end of the lifecycle of the AM4 chip socket. That and the possibility of 4000 series GPUs by then..

        • +1

TSMC has raised prices for all microprocessors. NVIDIA's prices have been hiked 20-25%. They have realised consumers will pay more so they can ask for more. These prices will not come down.

The prices hikes of 2021 was in September but they have hiked prices again. That's why gpu prices went up again after a slight reduction is December.

          • @[Deactivated]: As has been mentioned though before.. current GPU prices have almost nothing to do with costs of manufacturing.. they are inflated due to huge demand and limited supply. Once that levels out, sure the GPUs arent going to be as cheap as they once were, but sure as heck cheaper than they currently are.
You can see even with the deals this month that the high end prices are slowly dropping

            • +2

@OzViper: If you look at my comments from two months ago I was very positive they would drop but I can't see that happening. Inflation is not going to come down overnight. Our unemployment rate is 4.2% in the middle of a pandemic. That's very concerning. Wages will rise and inflation will rise further. It's no longer even crypto. The issue is much worse in the US and Europe.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: Well if things are as bad as you are predicting, I would still advise not to throw money at a luxury good now such as Gaming computer..

                • @OzViper: It's good advice. Unfortunately, with working from home and most of us self isolating due to the spread of the virus a computer is more of a necessity than a luxury.

    • Nothing has really change in the sense everything is still plug and play for building a PC system, you might actually find it easier depending how old your system was when you built it (???), lots of circuit protection in the latest motherboards so less chances of damaging anything

    • +2

The way systems parts are designed, and the frequency of new hardware arriving, I'd say the lifespan of computers are now more around 5-6 years rather than 10-12 years. I too built a system in 2013 (i5 system) that only changed with a 1080 GPU in 2018 but otherwise it ran everything. I sold it for $1200 in 2020.

If you want to apply the same philosophy then the latest Intel with DDR5 might be a better way to go. Otherwise buy a cheaper system like this one and prepare to buy another in 4-5 years or so.

      • +1

I agree in most part 5-6 years, though usually a GPU upgrade gives one system a few years more life especially for gamers maybe also extra ram helps, well AMD has certainly stretched out the AM4 socket though different story with Intel

Though these current crazy prices has certainly kept ones PC holding value even at some point increasing in value, so PC systems value wise has also been stretched out

    • +1

I am on the same boat, my PC is from the similar era (probably from the same generation).

I personally am going to wait it out a little longer until middle of this year, when AMD releases their Ryzen 7000 series CPU. I think by then, I'd probably be able to see whether it's worth getting a board with DDR5 RAM support or not :P

      • Same here. My PC is 3rd Gen, i5. For some reason, it refuses to boot up fresh installation of Windows 10 latest build now. My Asrock motherboard sucks and it's too old. No new firmware to fix the issue. Now I'm stuck with Windows 8.0.

        • +1

I think I did my sound card on the motherboard, had to get a PCI-E sound card for that.

Hopefully she lasts long enough until the GPU shortage comes down a little and when I actually have some money in my bank. I get the feeling that I will feel a huge jump from even moving to DDR4 and nvme SSDs, so kinda can't wait till I actually upgrade the PC.

  • Thanks Luke, you'll probbably be getting another order from me - even though you've had better deals in the past, totally understandable with all of the supply chain issues going on. Thanks for doing these for us - it makes it a lot easier than being that "guy" that builds the family and friends computers when you can just point them to a great deal like this, or others you've delivered in the past.

  • +3

Hoping to get a 3080 5600x build same or similar as the boxing day deal, don't mind waiting just wanna get my name on the list, or am I too late? :(

    • +2

I'd love the 3080 version of this deal as well.

  • Hi Luke, I previously purchased a PC from you guys that had Allied branded 3200mhz RAM. I am looking to upgrade by adding more RAM sticks but don't want compatibility issues with mixing brands. Where can I buy more of this Allied RAM?

  • What 3070ti's do you have in stock currently? Or what brands, in particular, are you expected to get in-stock? Thanks in advance.

  • Hey Luke, will 3060ti deal out anytime soon? Feb/March

  • Hi Luke, I canceled my order right after I made the payment and the cancellation has been confirmed, however, it has been more than 10 days but I still yet to receive the refund, can you help to check?

    • Sorry just saw this being on an older thread. PMd you for details.

  • +1

any chance of a 3080/5600x build anytime soon?

  • Thanks Luke, got one. First gaming PC so lets see how it goes!

  • Is Gainward good? better than Gigabyte?

  • This whole rig is cheaper than some of the 3080 card.
