Avoid the romer-g models. Keys tend to break easily, and are impossible to replace when they do.

I haven’t had any issues with my Romer G G910. Had since I got it from the Dick Smith clearout.

Play MOBAs and FPS with it.

I've got three of them all with broken keys.

At least with the cherry compatible ones you can fix them easily.

I have 3 romer-g kb with mixed luck.

All of them at least 3 years old (oldest is about 5 years).

The one my gf uses had keycap legs on bottom left ctrl snapped. It was a pain extracting the snapped legs and finding a replacement.

The other 2 kbs have been pretty solid.

I reckon it depends on if you bottom out the keys hard when you're typing or not. If you do, it might be best to avoid romer-g and stick with cherry.

I have this keyboard and the enter key is getting dicky. How can you identify if it is cherry compatible?

          • @eraser215: Not sure if it specifies cherry or romer-g on the label underneath, but you can check the keycap.

Pull off one of the keycaps (pull off a F## key if you're not comfortable as they are easy to remove).

If it has a + shape, it's a Cherry MX type keycap.
            If it has 4 clips arrange in a square, it's a Romer-G.

@wwwsam: It's most definitely a Romer G. Thanks for the advice. I may unsolder the F6 key and swap it for the enter key. Can't think of any time I use that one!

Photo show that it's UK layout

    • Yuck. I’ve made that mistake once with a UK layout, never again

    • It's not UK layout. It has the larger enter key like the UK layout but everything is standard US layout.

      • If it has the larger enter key it is ISO layout. Not really a big problem. Just harder to find keycaps if you want to swap.
