        • its faster than what they had b4

Your link shows this is the cheapest price so far!

    • thanks for letting us know this is cheapest.

    • -1

You realise not all of them are the same model right?

      • -2

        Same advertiser.
Previously $179 shipped less eBay coupon/discount GC
        Currently $179 shipped.

        No dispute on obsolescence?

        • Hi! Look for the price it is , it's still an amazing office PC, basic desktop for work (we use a couple!). We'll be rolling out some "newer" gen models in the following weeks.

          • @FuseTechAu: Did you have more stock left with theses ones or the new gen ones ?

  • Would make a cheap Emulator for retro games

  • What is shipping cost to Sydney?

  • Would this be a better buy at $199 + free shipping?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Optiplex-Desktop-500GB-USB3-0-Rene…

Extra RAM slots, wifi included, couple extra USB ports. 500gb HDD though instead of 128gb SSD though.

    • +1

Try this if you're ok with hdd over ssd.

      • Nice. I didn't even check eBay yet, admittedly. Thanks mate!

  • can this handle 4k playback? my macbook pro 2015 with similar spec (4th gen i5) can't handle 4k playback, either with vlc or youtube streaming.

    • It won’t without a dedicated GPU like a LP 1650

      • GT1030 can do 4K playback, Just not Netflix 4K due to VRAM.

    • nah it wont play it at all, maybe you'll get a couple of frames here and there
these things are beasts for all 1080p but thats about the limits of them

  • Any deals for the optiplex MFF? The one that’s similar in size to a Mac mini.

  • +5

The 4th gen i5 is now 8 years old, given that most companies opt for 3 to 4 years leases, maximum 5 years if the lease gets extended for whatever reason, where did all these ancient Optiplex come from? Surely the 7xxx series Optiplex would have ended their lease and heaps should be on the market?

  • can this run pacman?

  • -2

Optiplex is getting old… Better to invest money on a bigger and better gaming machine…

    • At $150?

      • Maybe not for that price but you can definitely find something better these days with a little more money… Future proof is what matters when upgrading…

        • ehh… for gaming i wouldnt bother unless you're stuck in dota slash tf2 land

but for a general office machine and pc that mums and dads and use they cant be beat

for my line of work i put these kinds of machines in to run cash registers, invoicing pcs etc.

instead of buying a new PC for $750 or so just buy two of these

        • At $150 you are not thinking about future proof son. That being said I wouldn't recommend this as a gaming PC, just productivity tasks.

          • -1

@Budju: i think $150 buys you a modern i3… and like 4gb of ram… what about all the rest?

not having a go at this guy

        • Nothing is future proof. You have to deal with use case scenarios and fit for purpose. These machines are going on 10 years, the fact that they still do well enough for purpose shows they were more future proof than those supposed future proof builds of the time.

  • Asking for a mate ,Will this be any good for a work pc just for an office job for working from home .

    • +1

Yes it will be absolutely perfect for quickly running standard office tasks, and is also power efficient and compact.

    • +1

the only reason it would suck is new games or encoding videos (slower than new hardware), for everything else is works perfectly fine. I have a few of these stacked on top of each other in a cupboard that has zero airflow and the cupboard is closed and doesnt even get over 50 degrees even in summer

  • Is there room in these PCs for a second SSD?

    • +1

You can jerry rig a second ssd if you remove the cd rom drive. Otherwise no

      • I'm hoping that the slot for the hard drive will be enough for 2 SSDs stacked ontop of each other.

        • +1

Easily. They were built for 3.5” so two SSDs will easily fit.

  • Appears to be sold out, here are the same specs with 256GB SSD for $189 + Free Delivery.
$179.55 with code PLUSJAN5 for eBay Plus members.
7 available at time of comment.

  • Mine got power button broken somehow.. often has to push a few times, combining with resetting power to turn on. And will always comeback after put to sleep.
    Anyone knows how to fix?

  • I use a 9020 with a NVIDIA GPU, SSD, and 16GB RAM for Plex, Usenet, and AdGuard Home on Debian 11

  • Any recommendations on a monitor to pair with this?

  • Do any of these types of office pc's come with hdmi port? or would I need to get a desktop pc with a gfx card for that? Looking for something cheap and simple for my parents they can use to watch videos on youtube/stream stuff etc

  • OP seems to be specialised in older Optiplex, as if they sell them buy them back to resell. :D

  • Any more in stock ?

  • I picked one of these up to use purely as a 24/7 Plex machine and for torrenting. If I already have an 8TB and 2TB external drive is there anything else worth adding or upgrading in this or is there not much point?

    • +1

Oof. I reckon the BPC tech deal on the budget gaming PC means you’re going to have to shave $500 off 😬

      • Yeah those "Ultra budget gaming PCs" aren't good.

        • 7yo processors :-O

      • -2

Uhhh no. Id rather sell our humble Optiplex's than compete with a company that sells Gaming PCs at losses. But nonetheless the Ultra budgets will be getting an update soon!

        • DDR4?

          • @tor: Ah no its DDR3 , but you can upgrade it to 16gb if need be

        • +1

What proof do you have they're selling them at a loss

          • -1

@Dvbargain: insider knowledge -source: trust me bro

            • @FuseTechAu: Haha fair enough.. Doubt it tbh, but you'd know better than me!

              • +1

@Dvbargain: Its…unfortunately true. Obvs there's plenty I cant say and I'm not out to slander, let alone getting in between somebody earning. But I know a LOT of companies are struggling to compete with their pricing at the moment! But for us I'd like to work on the extreme low end, trying to create some still great gaming PCs at super affordable prices (under $800 I know its scary older parts but they work fine) . However the gap is closing on the low end!

                • +1

                  @FuseTechAu: Fair mate.

With no post sale revenue I struggle to see the motivation behind selling at a loss is all. PS5s for example make sense.. Royalties.. Subscriptions… Accessories.. Etc.

                  Custom gaming PC's? Nothing.

                  • +2

@Dvbargain: Yep. Really doubt they sell at loss. I guess that they may sometimes sell for a thin margin and offer upgrades (RAM, storage, cooler, PSU, etc) for a better profit

    • Would this be good enough got fortnite? Kids keep banging on about wanting one

      • +1

Yep it sure will, just need to pop in a GPU along the lines of a low profile GTX 1050(ti) and it will handle Fortnite and other casual games fine on moderate settings.

        • But without an added graphics card. No, no it wouldn't.

    • Dell Optiplex 3040, i5-6500, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD - $239 + Delivery

Doesn't show the price as $239.

      • You need to select the 128GB storage option. It defaults to 1TB otherwise
