    Chromecast with eBay PJ.

These folks are horrible. Happened to purchase an iPad last Friday from them at an inflated price and used the discount code. Didn't hear anything from them until this afternoon's cancellation. And their "automated" response was "Cancelled due to incorrect shipping address"!

    What a load of bs!

    • +8

The worst part about that issue, is that eBay keeps letting them get away with that crap about incorrect address. 🤦‍♂️

Thanks gents - had in the cart and was ready to buy before stumbling on your comments.

Loathe unprincipled merchants and will happily wait a few weeks to buy off someone more reputable…

    (Was $110.87)

    LOL

  • Anyone has an opinion if this or the Amazon Fire Stick 4K is better?

    • Interested too

    • +13

I prefer this for it's interface and being Google TV it has many more apps available, can be customised too.

You're talking about the Fire Stick 4K Max yeah? It's also good, some people even say it has a little bit of extra performance, it's just that it has limited apps and the interface isn't that great (IMHO). Apps that usually get mentioned are Kayo, Plex, Foxtel, etc. Some can be sideloaded, others can't. It also has WiFi 6.

I guess it really depends on you're environment, the ecosystem you've bought into and what apps you intend on using. If it's just basic Netflix/Stan/Disney, then you can't really go wrong with either. If you like to tinker a bit more or want the best selection of apps, I would go with the Chromecast. Just remember that neither is perfect, and there are plenty of people complaining about both devices.

I have had both and this was so damn buggy adds subtitles when you have them off. Doesn't always remember where you were last in a series. Oh and the remote is slippery as anything… Dropped off couch twice and centre button doesn't work anymore.

      Oh and pricejacked price

      • Subtitles on Android Netflix app randomly turn on and off for me.

        • I get it on Amazon and sometimes Netflix on this

a good price is something like…$70-75 is it?

I got my last one for $29 just before Xmas.

    was never 110

  • Is the Netflix offer over too?

Google TV works great. Managed to find the ant store apk and install Chinese live sport apps i.e. CBA andOlympics (commentary in Chinese). Also very streamline with YouTube.

    • +1

I'm interested in this, don't know anything about "Ant Store". Is there any access to Chinese/HK dramas and or movies?

      • Normally all available depending on the apps you find that suits you. I don't really watch Cantonese dramas because the production is bad (but I am watching Flying Tigers right now). It if you dig around it the same apps you find on TvPad and Funbox from those pre-flashed boxes.

        • Thanks. I really don't know where to start. But you've given me a few leads.

        • Do you have a link at all? Tried searching but was a bit worried about all the different apks, which ones are legit etc… Any help appreciated.

    • +1

You can install the Mayi Market (ant store) to Fire Stick too.

  • How does this compare to the firestick 4k? In my firestick, I had to add Kayo through the downloader but most other apps I use are there on its app store.
I need one for the other room. Is there any benefit of going with Google?

    • +1

Asked above and a comprehensive answer was given.

My 2c: I prefer the pure Android experience and having Google Play Store as my shop.

      • That was dumb of me.

  • +4

    Inflated RRP. Typical eBay "sale".

  • Does this have Kayo? Not sure what this is, does it cast from the phone or is it a Google TV stick?

    • +2

Kayo can be downloaded from the Play Store. It's both a TV dongle and a casting device.

Nice, thank you for the reply. I decided to go with the Xiaomi Mi Stick for 64 dollars since I just wanted Kayo. Not the best device I've been informed from the reviews but until I need a Nvidia shield I think I should be alrite.

  • Heya So I decided to go with the Xiaomi Mi Stick for 64 dollars Located here. Looks like it's pretty similar if you just want chrome cast and Android TV. Not the best device but pretty good for 64 I'd say.

    Cheapest $70 before in ozbdeal…

  • +2

Price is just increased by $10 to make it look like a deal

    • -1

Incorrect, it's been the same price since the listing was created.

  • Just got a notification on eBay that the item has been sent. Estimated arrival 3rd February

  • Newbie here to the product - I installed the Binge and Foxtel apps on Google tv but when I search for movies or shows on the Home Screen, the search results don’t show options from binge and Foxtel (for example Superman and Lois which are on both Binge and Foxtel). I can only access Binge/Foxtel offerings by going into the respective app first. Is this how it’s meant to be? Not sure if I set it up incorrectly. Thanks for any help!

    • The "For You" recommendations are pretty cool, but I believe they need integrations in the background for the feature to work. Binge and Foxtel don't seem to have the integration, so they don't feature there. Unfortunately, there isn't much info available and Binge/Foxtel support are pretty much useless, they just refer you to the supported devices list.

From memory in Australia the feature is only working with Google Movies, Netlix, Stan, Disney+, ABC iView, 7Plus, 9Now and surprisingly Amazon Prime and AppleTV.

If you want something similar across more services, you could try Justwatch Australia, unfortunately the app on Android/Google TV devices also has limited services (32), but they are growing and you can select which ones you want to see. The web version has more (50), some you may not even know exist and you can also select the ones you want to see info for.

Thank you so much for your reply! I’ll check out justwatch
