love this keyboard , use it with a MX master mouse though

    • use it with a MX master mouse though

      that's a shame.

      • Why ?!

        • It's like wearing a striped shirt with plaid pants…

    • I actually really like this mouse and hate the keyboard. I've had to buy 4 of them because I kept breaking/losing the dongle -.-

      • +1

I lost the dongle too and don’t wanna pay $20 for it 😠

        • +1

I didn't think they were replaceable?

    • I use a Logitech trackball with this keyboard. Don't get wrist pain anymore.

    • Agree. I love the keyboard but the mouse is not very ergonomic for me. The Logitech works great

    • I do the same.. Love the keyboard, I use mine with my MX Ergo mouse..

  • +7

Also known as the 'where did I put my numpad' keyboard

    • You can just sticky tape them together…

      • +3

But then what would I be able to unsubstantially complain about?

        • +7

the sticky tape - You can complain about the sticky tape

        • That they both use different batteries, of course.

    • +2

The separate numpad is useful for left-handers. The mouse, presumably not so much.

      • +1

That makes a hell of a lot of sense

    • Yep I have NFI where mine is

  • +1

why people prefer wireless adaptor instead of bluetooth?

    • +5

      Price.

    • +8

I'll give you my reason for my use case:

With the wireless adapter, it's plug it in and it works straight away

With Bluetooth, it's press the Bluetooth button, open the Bluetooth list, pair the device and then it starts working.

And with all the different computers I use, if I change to a different computer, I have to do that pairing process again, some computers don't even have Bluetooth.

    • +11

      bluetooth is flaky af

    • +12

      Input latency and reliability

    • +1

The wireless dongle (rather than Bluetooth) is a pro, not a con, if you plug it into a USB hub (e.g. your monitor) and switch devices that way.

Plug and play immediately when I move it to my Xbox too.

  • +3

This keyboard and mouse is amazing, I use it everyday while working from home!

  • +1

I'm typing on one now, love it so much that I bought another. Got officeworks to price match at $129 about a year ago, so this is a fantastic price.

  • Nice!

  • I agree with the general comments, this is superior in my opinion to other ergonomic keyboards mainly because it's kind of reverse angle for your wrists, it tilts the other way which is better for my wrists. The mouse is odd as it's meant to make you hold it differently so I use a razer basilisk x instead.

  • thanks op bought one,
    now gotta find a computer

  • Do we need 3 USB connections to connect these 3 devices: keyboard, numpad & mouse?

    • No

    • +2

I absolutely hate how stupidly large this dongle is though, very easy to bend and break if you're not careful.

      • +2

While Logitech has made their transceivers more compact (and unifying), Microsoft has not made any improvements, probably still the same ones from 2014. :D

        • +1

Yeah. The useful thing about Logitech is exactly that unifying part, I can pair my devices to a different dongle in case I break it.

But not with Microsoft… They want me to just buy a completely new set instead.

        • Logitech recievers are terrible for wireless interference from, I can only assume, being buried in a USB slot due to their size.

Because if you use a ponytail connector with them to bring them out of the slot they're fine.

  • Bought one. To go with my dell monitors

  • Had this combo back in 2014, good quality keyboard but mouse is mediocre. Also, keyboard layout is annoying, talking about the directional keys section, including page up/down, insert/delete, etc.

But each to their own, you may like it, or get used to it.

    • keyboard layout is annoying

      That's mandatory, it's ergonomic.

I was getting RSI on my wrist before getting this keyboard and mouse.

Now 4 years later the RSI hasn’t popped back.

Can highly recommend. Was hating my IT job because of the pain. When the the RSI went away I started to enjoy work again. So basically this keyboard and mouse has been career defining.

    • +1

Exact same but I started with an earlier corded ergonomic Microsoft keyboard over a decade ago. This keyboard is great, and still no RSI issues.

  • +4

Love this set, but I’ve gone through 4 sets of these the last couple of years either from keyboard keys not working or working intermittently or the mouse buttons not registering anymore. The single set with the one receiver makes this a little annoying…

With OW and Amazon discounting, is there a new model around the corner?

    • +1

With backlit keys and they have me signed up!

    • +1

You say you love it but then also basically point out it's a piece of crap quality wise?

      • +1

        Yep.

I absolutely love the ergonomic design. I spend 8-10 hours/day on it for work, and for me its by far the most comfortable keyboard I've ever used.

I love the ergonomic aspect of it enough to overlook its crap durabililty, that even when it ultimately breaks down I just want to buy another one because I don't think (for me) there's another keyboard I've used that comes even close.

When the last-last set's mouse left click stopped working, I replaced the mouse with the Logitech vertical. When the keyboard from that set broke down too (stuck function keys, A and space bar intermittent), I bought another set just so I could get the keyboard again - never used the mouse though, kept using the Logitech vertical.

Not to mention the felt material on the palm rest gets damaged over time as well and feels pretty off!

        • +3

Same… have had to replace mine multiple times over the years for the same reasons as you! But I still buy the same thing every time because it just feels great to use day in, day out.

You can also contact Microsoft for warranty depending on time period.

  • +2

I've had 2 of these bite the dust in 1 year.

No faith in their reliability but YMMV.

Pity because there is no better feeling ergo keyboard out there.

  • pity no dedicated Media keys.
Switching the Function keys is a PITA

    • -1

Can't you just hold the function key when you press the appropriate Fx key?

  • Does this work on Macs?

    • +2

Yes, I use it with both Windows and Mac.

Although the key markings won’t match. You can also change the keys in System Preferences so which key is Opt and Cmd are swapped if you prefer.

  • Actually only been using various mechanical keyboards for the past 10 years, but I'm drifting away from gaming life and more work from home/study life, so I will give this a go.
    Thank you

  • The best over the time.

  • i have the Microsoft ergonomic 7000 keyboard/mouse and the keyboard is ergonomically great, but the latency on the keyboard and softness of the keys is not great, makes it feel like typing is a bit of a chore. I switch back and forth with a mechanical keyboard, which is wired so excellent in all respects except ergonomically. Is this one any better?

    • +1

Mooood. I'm stuck too. I've got a great mech keyboard but it's just not ergonomic. Really interested in those split mechs but those cost a fortune ($500+)

Wish split mech keyboards would be more accessible :/

      • yes :( hopefully soon. I bought this one just in case it's a bit less soft than the 7000 and i'll give it to my dad if its the same haha

      • my update is that it's a lot less squishy and soft than the 7000. Its pretty good, im happy with it, i was switching between it and the mechanical keyboard for a couple days but now im settled into the ergo its good :) its hard to go back to the small flat mechanical one again. The mouse is fine, i use the ergo one in the more RSI-riffic right hand and have my Logitech anywhere MX 2s on the left side

        • one disappointing thing is i can already hear the squeak/spring noise in some keys after a week of use

  • anyone else wish they had the programmable and extra buttons of the old Microsoft ergonomic 4000/7000?

  • Had this set a few years ago, got it when it was mispriced at about $45 and used it for about 2 years.
have zero complaints with it, currently using a Logitech K850 (I actually have 2, one at each desk) but the one in the office is dying a slow and painful death.

Ill grab one at this price but i will be pairing it with my Logitech MX Master 3 mouse, with the work I do the horizontal scroll is really important (F U Massive excel sheets)
