ahh specs that I want but only HDMI 2.0 :(

    • i researched for over a week before i found and bought this monitor and even the ASUS ROG Swift PG279QM $1350 the cheapest i could find it for that also has a gsync ultimate module only has hdmi 2.0 and its the same for other expensive newish tech monitors it is a bit strange that some of the best monitors out there dont have hdmi 2.1 ports still

    • Not sure why you need a 2.1 connection for a QHD monitor?

Bandwidth is more than enough to cover up to 240FPS.

I take that back… only useful up to 144FPS.

      • i dont need hdmi 2.1 but i was replying to the previous post about the lack of hdmi 2.1 ports that some people might need for other hdmi 2.1 devices other than pc gaming where you would be using displayport that has been upgraded to 1.4 like maybe game consoles but i think i read somewhere that this monitor wont downsample game consoles 4k output or something like that but i cant be sure i never had a game console

        • found some info about it here https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/jppwin/a_quick_ex…

Not every monitor advertises it when they have a downscaler built into the monitor. Samsung calls this technology misleadingly ''Magic Upscale'' and Gigabyte monitors call it rightly ''Virtual 4K''.
The downscaler pings a signal to the connected device (for my test environment a PlayStation 4 Pro) and makes the connected device think that the plugged-in monitor is in reality a 4K 60Hz monitor. This leads to the PS4 Pro (or other 4K@60Hz devices) sending out a 4K@60Hz signal to the monitor which will be processed by the built-in downscaler and downscaled to 1440p.
Without a built-in downscaler the monitor would now display a 1080p picture that will look horrendous on a 1440p monitor since the pixel count is divided in an uneven way from 1080p to 1440p (times 1.333).

        • Seems like only the Eve Spectrum ES07D02 has QHD @ 240Hz with HDMI 2.1. The price is now $749 USD (started off at $489 back in Jan '20 lol).

Hopefully the new monitors coming out this year has QHD with 2.1 (don't really need the 240Hz) on at least 27".

I need 2.1 to get g-sync running (my Nitro 5 laptop has no mux switch, so the GPU is only connected to the HDMI output not USB-C).

I have this monitor but I bought into the first revision t and its plagued with random shutdowns forcing me to push the power button on/off at least once a day.

Have also owned the Samsung G7 and it had flaws too!

For the price though you would never get a monitor as good so I still can recommend buying the AW2721D!

      • Haven’t all the later revisions been corrected? I’d bloody hope so after this much time passed!

    • Have also owned the Samsung G7 and it had flaws too!

The Odyssey 28" 4K for around $900? What flaws did it have? I've read it doesn't work well with consoles which isn't a problem for me. But yeah I don't really want 4K.

I love this monitor. This is a brilliant price! Thanks for the post!

  • I like the tech/gaming deal posts you put out. +1 subscribed (:

  • I got this monitor from the last deal at the same price.

It has been amazing and have zero regrets.

Only nitpick is the stand is very thick. My previous monitor used to sit quite flush with the wall behind it. This actually pushes the screen forward by about 10cm so its closer to my face than before. I have learnt to live with it so far, but will get a monitor arm if I decide I want that space back.

  • Great deal.. got it off the outlet store for a $10 cheaper Q1 last year. Had to adjust colours a touch, but it was more accurate oob than their similarly priced ultrasharps from 10yrs ago

Just an FYI I ordered this monitor earlier in January, it said 'Overstock' on the website, however I have had a delayed e-mail arrive on the estimated day of delivery twice, and last week I finally got an e-mail saying ETA April 28th or something. Cheeky Dell trying to get orders in before they are even built. You have every right to cancel, but just one thing to be aware of if you are ordering.

    • i ordered one and will wait for it but thanks for the heads up :)
