Got this from DigiDirect today. Was hesitant but it is excellent. Feels great, deliberate push but quick to type on. Recommend if you're tossing up whether to pull trigger.

    • DigiDirect have it for $160.65 and offer $10 off 1st purchase with supplied spam. Can also price-match at Officeworks/JB Hifi.

      • Yep, that's what I did, used the $10 then unsubscribed.

Bought one of these for WFH adjustment at the start of Covid, hands down the best keyboard I’ve ever used for extended periods.

    • Which one?

      • +1

        MX Keys

  • +5

Good keyboard. Using it now. Spilt coffee all over it, and it still works great.

    • +1

      Noob

    • Which one?

    • +2

I'm more concerned that you wasted coffee.

hows this keyboard to a thinkpad keyboard? those are the best ive ever used, including my mechanical

    • +5

I have access to both (work laptop is a ThinkPad). Prefer the MX Keys

      • +3

Also got access to both….MX keys for the win

  • +2

I have the MX keys mini (same thing but chopped in half) - my favourite kb to type on. Highly commended if you enjoy the chiclet mac-style low travel style keyboards.

Also if you run multiple systems the quick switching is very useful and implemented well if you pair it with another logitech mouse that does similar (i use the m720)

    • The MX keys are way better than the low pro mac keyboards.

  • +3

Definitely recommend the MX keys, I pulled the trigger on this a few weeks back knowing I will be WfH a lot more than last year and as a now Windows user who misses their Apple Magic from yesteryear. Very similar soft feel, does NOT sound like those bloody mechanical monstrosity's and can easily flick between multiple devices it pairs with. Also has Mac key marking as well e.g. cmd and opt for those that might use both!

  • Is this comparable to the K810, I'd figure it would be tough to better the quality of that. If so I'll buy one.

    • Exactly the same question I have

    • Can’t say as I haven’t used a K810, but the Keys is incredibly well built. Feels very hefty and robust. I was surprised at just how solid it felt, coming off the well constructed but very light Apple Magic Keyboard.

  • Can I still type on this with medium-long nails?

  • Anyone spotted any deals on the MX Mini lately? In need of one since I don't want the numpad.

    • +2

If you have access to JB Hi fi Commercial, the MX Mini is discounted there. Just bought one recently and love it.

If you have a Westpac or St George Credit Card, you may be able to access JB Commerical as one of the card perks.

  • I was browsing this KB a few days ago but can't really swallow the price for probably under-using it? Anything like this maybe one tier down cheaper?
Or maybe I should just swipe borrow one of those Dell chiclet office keyboards :P.

Or if it's built like a tank like my G15 that I'm using for WFH.

    • +2

I think we just witnessed someone's internal thoughts about talking themselves out of buying something.

  • Love the feel of this keyboard and the ability to quickly switch between my work pc and home pc

  • +1

Should I go for this or the mechanical Keychron?

    • Depends if you want mechanical or not. For WFH or in the office, I prefer the MX Keys. But for personal use, I go for mechanical keyboards. I think Keychrons are good for the price. My main issue with the Keychron keyboard I have is that that the bluetooth drops out more and it takes longer to connect/switch between devices.

  • Great keyboard, but warning the backlight is a pain in the ass. You need to leave it plugged in or it won't stay on which is fine, but the 'auto' mode it goes to wehn unplugged is terrible the delay is to short and the sensors are a bit buggy.

Still a great keyboard but if you do all your work at night like me you will need it plugged in :)

  • Nice but much prefer the K800 for Palm rest benefits and battery life should be at least 20 days with half brightness.

Ergonomics can help those with RSI yet each to their own though. All good having a cordless backlit keyboard all the same :)

  • Would like to see the mini version on offer if possible?

did anyone used to go to the old mans shop in north rocks, it was stacked sky high with boxes and he'd be smoking like a chimney in there and carrying on swearing. It was called FluidTek then before he changed the name to logitechshop, probably the worst customer service in the history of computer stores

    • +2

Came here to say anyone remember ol Fast Eddy… And it seems you do, hahaha

    • +1

Fast Eddie was great. Always amusing watching a newb come in with a list and Fast Eddie saying no to everything they asked for.

He was a bit like the soup nazi. If you didn’t ask in the right way and quickly … no computer for you

      • +3

Soup nazi is a good description. Sometimes, he is all strictly business (maybe not in a good mood that day). Sometimes, he would be quite chatty (i.e. in a good mood or a 'Kramer' equivalent showed up). While it is somewhat better when Eddie is in a good mood, you end up having to wait longer.

    • He was an interesting character. I remember getting a set of Logitech speakers from him for about $30. Normally retailed for over $70. Think he realised he priced it wrong, but he let me have it at that price.

    • Wasn't his shop in Carlingford?

    • Did he stock those Logitech Guitar Hero controllers too? Man, they were too cheap for what they were.

  • I have had the MX for a few months (a gift), it does have a good feel but coming from a larger ergo keyboard, i find i'm often turning on the caps lock or striking other keys. Already had to recharge it after 6 weeks. There is no adjustment to angle or raise the keyboard nor any wrist support. I suppose just a matter of getting used to the smaller size

    • +2

You can purchase a palm rest for it, Logitech make one, just it's $$$ for what it is.

  • I’ve had an MXKeys for a few months. Def the best multi device keyboard I’ve used and love how quiet it is.

    Replaced a Logitech mechanical

  • Another one here that replaced a mechanical keyboard with blue keys with the MX.

I really like the keyboard, but not in love with it as most people are. Two issues keep me from it:

Volume keys get stuck if pressed repeatedly or held down - is a known issue for years now. God help you if you're viewing something and decide to turn the volume up.

I'm a touch typist and find i make more mistakes on this keyboard than any other I've had in the last 30 years. I suspect it's because the keys are fairly close together and are quite flat to the keyboard.

    • -2

I think everybody is a touch typist nowadays… I have never had any issues typing on it, in fact, I've probably increased my speed and accuracy.

Have used it for just over a year daily and haven't had any stuck keys thus far. Might be a QA issue?

  • Can someone please explain to me what justifies charging $150 for a keyboard? What's so special about those?

    • +3

It’s one the best keyboards money can buy. Also if you can use it for years to come, 10 years / $150, is only $15 a year. Not too much of a price to pay for something that you may be using continuously for 8 hours a day. It’s like asking how much do you spend on your mattress?

    • +1

If you use it for work or study, might as well make it slightly more pleasant. A keyboard will last for a reasonably long while. Even if you just use it for a year (just going by warranty, most keyboards I've seen last far far longer than the warranty), it's basically less than a dollar per day.

Logitech is fairly decent with its wireless keyboard line up for work related things (long standby battery life etc). MX Keys is well received and if you are looking for a portable, low profile, multi-device, wireless keyboard that's decent, I don't think there are many options out there.

  • i pulled the trigger on this a few months back over a keychron because i was sick of the travel distance on my previous Topre keyboard. Since it's not mechanical, it is much quieter for calls which is great too
I like that you can map the FN keys - so i have some that still work as media keys but others as F keys.
    E.g. - F2 = F2, so i can go into formula bars in excel
    F5 = F5 for refresh
F10 = shift + F10 in excel, all other media keys as default.

  • Bought the K860 yesterday for $199… bugger. But so far it seems good. My old mechanical keyboard was about to cripple me with RSI so hopefully this one helps

  • +1

add this Shopback giftcard swapback to get a further $10 off https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/679974

    • +1

      Beat me to it haha
Lucky I waited till today to purchase the keyboard. Shopback answered the call with a further 10% discount :D Yes!

  • +1

My only dislike of the MX Keys is the Lock button on the top right corner.

    • Beats pressing Windows & L

    • I actually love it!! I've only ever mistakenly pressed it once in the last 3 years that I've used it.

  • Hasn't this keyboard been cheaper before?

    • OzB get's excited anytime it's around $150

  • Another option is price match with officeworks. I got it for $152.62 price matching digidirect ($160.65).

  • MX Keys is now showing OOS!

  • I would recommend K860 if you want to give an ergonomic keyboard a try.

  • Thanks OP. Got one. Does anyone know how warranty works ? Thanks

  • Is this worth the price difference over the Sculpt?

Currently contemplating a ergo keyboard to WFH

    TIA
