Have this phone, Ticks pretty much all the boxes and I believe premium flagship phones have hit a ceiling.

Own the X2 Pro and X3 Pro (If you have the X2 not worth the upgrade, If you own any older/lower spec phone go for it)
I'm on Android 12 and Oppo releases monthly security updates without fail (Sometimes 1 month might skip but the following month you'll get the most updated patch)

    https://www.rmupdate.com/2022/02/01/oppo-coloros-update-poli…

I don't expect the S22 or X3 Pro successor to reinvent the wheel as most mid-high end phones perform really well these days.
It's the Apps that have failed to keep pace and utilize all the processing power.

No wonder most people are holding out 2-3 years or more before upgrading except for tech geeks who love the newest and greatest.

      Waiting for Find N 2

      • YESSSS!!! I was very impressed playing with Samsung Fold 3 but still felt it was too bulky.
Find N2 would be worth looking out for.

Love mine except accessories are a nightmare… No screen protectors fit at all

      • -2

frankly you don't need a screen protector for this phone

        • +1

Frankly you do…. 1 drop and cracked screen.

          • @quikstix: Wow. What flooring was that. Mine fell many times, but seems to be intact and fine. Have you tried aliexpress?

          • @quikstix: How much did it cost to repair?

            • @niknaks: Luckily I got it with that JB deal a while ago which included their mobile extras for a year free so only coste $45

              • @quikstix: Thanks for the info.

                • @niknaks: No worries, I love the phone for the record! The fast charging is super useful, great screen and cameras. OS is great also

      • decisive info. TA

    • what case did you end up with?

I have the X2 pro and for the price($650) or so I paid it's a damn good phone. Snappy and the 65w charging makes me not want to go back to anything less haha.

    • +3

Agreed mate, Being able to wake up and charge in 30 mins before work is so good. (Hard to find compatible USB C cables that work with the adapater though)
It is a damn good phone and will last a while yet before slowing down.

I do prefer the camera setup and periscope zoom on the X2 pro over the X3 Pro setup, since they dropped the long periscope zoom for a gimmicky microscope lens which was pointless.

  • +1

This has wireless charging over the x2 pro, which is a big plus for some users

  • Should i just buy this or wait for X5 which is around the corner?

Im a heavy user and would very much prefer a 5000mah battery

    • +1

So my opinion based on usage. (As I WFH now, it's changed though) - Heavy User (Not gaming though)

X2 Pro's batter capacity would barely get me through a days usage if I was commuting to work and not charging.
Steaming Spotify via bluetooth, browsing. Screen ontime was about 4.5 hours

X3 Pro has a slightly higher battery capacity and feels like it last longer but as I have been WFH for past 2 years and can't judge on a commuting to work level it's hard to say. I feel like it has more stamina and I charge it less.

Though using my POCO X3 NFC with a 5000mah battery it is day and night what that extra capacity can get you.
I was in hospital for a few nights and would use that as my media device and managed to get hours upon hours of screen on time before needing to charge.

I would say if you have access to your Oppo 65w charger or can take it with you then don't worry about battery life as it really is that quick.
I bought a spare and left it in the office back in the day.

If your budget concious go this phone as the next release will likely be around the $1600-$1700 mark if past RRP is to go by.
Also if you can hold out, This might go down a little bit more like the X2 which hit around $700-$800 but you'll have to be quick at that price to secure stock.

      • Thanks for the suggestion. I will be getting this phone!

  • unworthy the price over $500, every 2 yrs change

    • I kind of agree, the midrange phones are getting better and better that premium $1000+ isn't really worth it most of the time for most people.
Most people who buy $1000+ Iphones/andorids would rarely need the storage/power but we are conditioned to want the latest and greatest

Phone manufacturers are finding it harder and harder to stand out and innovate, I think the next few years the push will be for foldable phones as normal smart phones are much of a muchness.

TBH if I didn't have disposable income and could only pick 1 phone to last 2 years, A phone like the Poco F3 at $350-$450 is more than good enough

  • +1

Have one, love it. Good screen, good cpu, good camera, ultra fast charging. Notifications took a few days to customise the way I like it and the fingerprint scanner is a bit meh sometimes but other than that can't fault it.

  • Holding out till half price. Bought the X2 but had dropped it but not worth replacing the screen. Going to hold out for as long as I can.

Difficult to find good cases too but at a sale price it's worth the investment despite not being a big player on the premium market

  • Sigh, thought I could just snag one at JB haha. No stock anywhere near me.

  • +1

Have one. Love it. Unlike samsung, google and apple, comes with all the accessories. Not to forget the 65W supervooc charger, which is awesome. Charges the phone in a jiffy while i take a shower and its ready. The earphones that come with it, they are also good. Super fast browsing, great storage. I am going to stick with oppo in near future.

Dangit..if I didn't just buy the Poco F3 (Amazon UK) during Xmas I'd have jumped on this.

Had my eye on the X3 over the X2 due to dual sim.

Can't complain about the F3 though..performs well above its price point.

  • Should drop to around the $600-$700 mark once the next one comes out. Lesser when JB has 5% off coupon and JB Or Ultimate/TCN Gift cards at 10-15% off. $500 would be a compelling price for this once next iteration is here, considering people here got their S21 Ultras for anything from @500-$750 with no trade-in phones sent

  • They seem to have a lot of issues with Android Auto. Have the x2pro and despite update Android auto is very flaky.

    • It's more than likely the cable you're using, not the phone. Android Auto demands the highest quality cable for trouble free operation

      • Yes was told about it, bought some branded cables from JB as well other sites as well as the original but same result. Quite frustrating really. It works for a day then doesn’t then works the next day.

    • No issues with this phone and AA in either one of my vehicles.

  • +2

People who've bought this phone previously from JB Hi-Fi have confirmed that it supports dual nano sims.
However, when I messaged Allphones on ebay they told that it supports one nano sim + one esim.
On the Oppo website they say that the Telstra and Optus variants don't support dual sims (Maybe Allphones are selling unlocked Telstra/Optus stock).
Brains trust, should I just buy the from JB Hi-Fi and claim price protection later on when the price drops? Alternatively, I could just buy it from Allphones now and pay $922.15.
Dual physical sim support is important to me.

    • same reply from allphones for me as well.
