Best flavour of the lot imo

    • -4

…but the flavour is always peanut

      • Would you say dark roast and light roast coffee are the same flavour?

        • -2

not exactly the same but all peanut butters are different types of peanut flavour.

kinda like how Nirvana and Foreigner are both rock bands

Thanks OP, been waiting for these to come on sale

Give other people a chance to buy it bro.

    Looks like they're matching Coles.

Coles have more varieties (regular, dark roast, crunchy, smooth, extra crunchy) on sale.

I'm such a cheapass I bought a food processor 2nd hand for $25 and can make 2 full jars of peanut butter from a $4 bag of peanuts from Aldi.

I highly recommend it if you go through 2-3 jars a week like I do.

    • That's great, but is it as nice and moist? Worth saving 50c on a jar compared to stocking up on days like today?

      • +10

Yes nice and moist and can control the viscosity. IMO not worth the 50c saving due to cleanup, but worth $1 to me and I already have a stockpile of peanuts and empty jars (I use Mayvers jars from a previous deal, Mayvers is good stuff). If you get a good processor that's highly rated with a lot of watts like the Sunbeam Cafe LC9000 (the one I bought 2nd hand), then it will have the horsepower behind it to turn nuts into butter without added oil.

It can be done in a blender also. Make sure to check reviews if a particular blender is decent at making nut butters, as many are not suitable for it, and could damage the blender if it's not suitable.

I like to add 30ml MCT oil to 700g peanuts to thin it out a little and speed up the processing, but it's not needed. I take MCT oil as a supplement which is another reason I like to add it.

Also you have a finer control of the salt content or if you would like to mix other nuts in. I find a few walnuts will thin it out similarly to MCT oil, but walnut butter tastes quite bitter.

Someone give this man a OZB medal. This is gold!

        • +1

Worth noting that it does require a powerful food processor or blender.

If you own cheapo gear, you can still try by letting it process for 30-60 seconds and having a 5-10 min break. But this require knowing your food processor and may still end up in breaking the motor.

          • +1

@pizzaguy: In addition to the duty cycle of the motor - the shape of the blender jug is important for the peanut flour to fall into the blades and not get caught. Having a blender with a tamp/baton to press the peanut flour into blades is an almost necessity.

The best part about food processors is no need for specific jug design or tamp. Also I think if you have to chose between a blender or a food processor then a food processor is much more useful as it can do pretty much everything a blender can do, and more.

        • Sounds like a pain in the ass and you said in the same sentence that it isn't worth it and is worth it. Is 50c really worth the amount of time you spend prepping and cleaning? Certainly wouldn't be for me.

          • @Saltysez: I wrote that for a 50c saving it's not worth it for a single jar on sale, but as you may be aware when not on sale they are $5 per jar, which is a saving of $3 per jar. That's a saving of $6 to make 2 jars at a time that takes 10 minutes of cleaning which I do while listening to podcasts as I clean other dishes. A $6 saving for 10 minutes of cleaning might not be worth it to you, but I think it will to most people here - this is a bargain website after all.

I've saved over $100 the last few months as I save $10 a week by making it myself (if compared to RRP). That's a saving of $520 a year if you go through 3 jars a week like I do. While you may think that's just spare change, it's quite a lot of money to me and I think most people.

I used to buy Mayvers on all the specials throughout 2020 and most of 2021. I've made comments in previous threads on Mayvers about how I bought 10+ jars each time. Then I realised the sales were too far between and would either have to go without peanut butter or spend a lot for it. That's why I started making my own which has saved me a lot of money.

Nice! Add some coconut oil also and it smoothens it up nicely!

      • I'd consider that if I didn't already use MCT oil. MCT oil is made from coconut oil but is a liquid at room temperature and no taste.

    • I tried in my quite decent Breville food processor, and just ended up with finely crushed peanuts.

  • Last time I ordered they came in smashed up in the box

    • This has happened to me multiple times. Amazon is good at replacing them at no charge.

  • +1

They'll be matching the Coles deal.

    No minimum quantity.

    67 cents / 100 grams

    Nutritional info

  • -1

Where does it says it's a one day deal? Surely it will run until Tuesday to match Coles.

    • +1

Amazon often matches for a day to get people make up their mind before realising or having a chance to stock up at Colsworth.

Why is your previous comment negged?

      • -1

No idea. Some people just like to neg.

      • Wishing they'd do a last minute drop on the scrub daddy range

  • +3

bless you OP, i was down to my last 2 jars

  • +2

    • Maybe they have stock management strategy in place. Says delivery by 8pm tomorrow in my order.

  • I personally didn't like the dark flavoured one. Some of the other ones are great though.

  • Seems to be temporarily OOS

    • Yup noticed that, so I bought a different flavour at full price. jkjk I'm an OzB pro.

    • Looks like they have removed OOO. Not sure for how long. Good luck.

      • LoL OzB peeps are fast. OOS again. I'm giving up :-)

  • hopefully the bigger jar will also go on half price. one day.

  • Hopefully they price match the extra crunchy.

    • +1

Is that just a jar of peanuts?

      • In oily brine.

  • I ordered four last time. My wife complained that they must have sent a bad batch because it tasted more burnt and salty that the usual supermarket bought type.

  • Smunchy protein+ appears to be the same price min qty 2 Mayver's Smunchy Protein+ Peanut Butter 375g https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07YF3W1BY/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt…
