EVGA XR1 1080p 60fps USB-C Capture Card with 4k 60fps Passthrough $79 Delivered @ BPC Tech eBay

740

Looks like a cracking deal. Cheaper than the XR1 lite, and other retailers selling for $200+.

I don’t know too much about these devices, but reviews look positive. Was just looking for something cheap to stream Nintendo Switch.

Also available for $69 + delivery direct from BPC Tech, but with the current eBay Plus discount codes, eBay will most likely work out better. Eg. $5 eBay plus monthly code if you haven’t already used it, or the 5% for eligible items (PLUSFEB5) will take $3.95 off.

looks like $69 with code AFTERPAY10

"You already applied this code to an order." 🤔

      • Same. I last used afterpay in August too :/

Edit: was able to apply the code with a different ebay account

      ..nice

Did guest checkout with the same email, phone, and address of my ebay account it the discount code worked.

Curious to see how people compare it to the Elgato alternative. Seems like this regularly goes on sale for $60 USD in the states as well, so wonder if it's the same case here (seems like a few stores have it for below $100)

Looked into one of these from BPC direct. Cheapest delivery to Metro Melbourne showing for me was ~$6.50, or free delivery if you bundle something else to get your purchase over $99.

  • +1

Store pickup is free so :D

  • Is this mainly for streaming your video gaming on Twitch?

    • +3

theoretically you can capture anything and use it for your teams/zoom calls as well

      • +4

What I'm hearing is that I can use this for work purposes and claim on tax!

    • +2

You can plug any HDMI device into it and it behaves like a display for the device while allowing you to capture the HDMI.

Great deal! Some Aliexpress 4K60 capture cards charge $60 and the quality isn't great (namely audio gets out of sync with video).
So getting a well known brand for this price is awesome. Reviews look good too.

Latency looks onpar with Elgato's too.

    • Latency looks onpar with Elgato's too.

      Source?

I have one of these. It's 4k60 pass through and 1080p60 cap.

So yeah wont capture 4k. You want good 4k capture youll probably want the 350 dollar elgato.

      • Good to know. Thanks.

Protip: get the Avermedia GC573 instead.

          • @Diji1: i have that Card - great card but we need somthing that Dos higher frame rates as well as lower frame rates

Do check reviews for this product. Much of the material released at launch was NOT TRUE. If you are buying it based on EVGA's own marketing materials, you may not get the specific feature you're looking for. This is one of many YT reviews that lays out what it can do vs. what was literally written on the box. https://youtu.be/QsICWRnj-60

    • +7

Bottom line - it has 4k60 pass through and 1080p60 capture. Has mic and headphone inputs too with adjustable knob and has RGB. Have to keep in mind that most reviews were done when this costed USD179.

  • Thanks OP - ordered but cancelled.

I was looking for 1440p, 120Hz passthrough while capturing, but this unit does 4K/60 passthrough with 1080/60 capture. When capturing, the unit has no 1440p nor passthrough refresh greater than 60.

    • I am worried my order will get cancelled too. Did you order from their website or ebay?

      • +1

eBay, but I cancelled the order.

  • +4

Thanks OP, didn't need one so naturally I bought it anyways.

$75.05 delivered with code PLUSFEB5 for Plus members who already used the Afterpay code.

Is it just me or it looks like an induction cooker?

  • comparing to this one, which one is better?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/674917

    • EVGA.

I have some variation of these cheap capture cards - they're bad.
Latency is pretty bad (feels like half a second delay) and audio gets out of sync over time.

  • Nice one OP, grabbed one.

  • +1

Thanks. I don't stream but bought one anyway.

    • That's the ozbargain spirit!

  • Anyone know if this can be used both as a splitter and capture card for with Hyperion to have an ambient light set up?

    • I'm not 100% sure what you mean.

It will take 1 HDMI input and output 1 HDMI.

You will have a "Video Capture Device" in Windows (or other OS) to use in applications that is the input HDMI.

If you just want a splitter - 1 HDMI in with 2 (or more) identical HDMI outputs you can buy splitters from Amazon/Aliexpress etc.

    • I can't see why it wouldn't.
I'm running the same setup with a much cheaper equivalent from Aliexpress and it works really well.
The only thing I can't do is get the passthrough to carry HDR, but I'm not willing to shell out a few hundred for the Elgato or pro version of this.

      • This is exactly my concern. Do you mind sharing the details of the capture card and splitter you are using?

        • It's just this one on Aliexpress:

          https://a.aliexpress.com/_mqvY5Sc

Carries the 4k 60hz signal absolutely fine, and there's no lag on the LEDs through Hyperion.

I've got no idea how good the video capture image actually is but it's more than good enough for Hyperion.

HDR seems to be far more difficult to carry.

  • Curious, can I use this in a setup like the following:

Main laptop running the game > HDMI > XR1 > USB-C > Streaming laptop with OBS doing the stream?

Attempted some streaming with the 5900hx but it seems like mobile 8c16t cpus really arent fit for streaming (and yes Im using nvnec encoding on the gpu) without major fps hits in games.

Or alternatively, would this setup increase fps?

Laptop running game & stream > HDMI > XR1 > HDMI > External monitor for gaming
    ^————< (into OBS capture)————HDMI ↓

    • Running a second system for encoding frees up some resources on the gaming system.

You can also do more overlay processing for notifications and status updates without worrying about affecting game play.

So the latter setup would have less resources available and reduce FPS.

      • So the second setup would have the opposite effect of what I intended to do?

    • Main laptop running the game > HDMI > XR1 > USB-C > Streaming laptop with OBS doing the stream

This is the way to go and will improve gaming performance.

      • Got it cheers. So the second method will not add any benefit at all? I would rather not have to buy another laptop for portability reasons but if it's the only way then I guess I gotta go for it haha.

        • If you don't have a second laptop - then you are better off buying a used Dell OptiPlex to use as a stream box. There are plenty of YouTube videos around this comparing different specs. Laptops aren't the best for streaming due to thermal constraints.

          • @OldSchoolHarry: Yeah I understand, but my main problem with buying a second laptop/nuc/sff pc is due to portability reasons haha so I'm just trying to think of ways to get extra performance with as little stuff as possible.

  • Good price but USB should be avoided for cameras and capture where possible.

PCIe has no issues, USB is issue ridden.

  • Just keep in mind the differences between the XR1 and the XR1 Pro! Here's a picture summarising the differences.
    https://www.techpowerup.com/img/ICRnIXNHTDNcEaaK.jpg
The XR1 Pro was recently (Jan 4th) listed as OBS Certified, which might be further reason for the price reduction on the XR1 (non Pro)
ALSO, be wary of the PassThrough (P/T) feature, which basically means the device can only run at those resolutions and fps when NOT capturing!

    • Thanks.

Quick correction - APT (Advanced Pass Through) refers to capturing being unavailable and P/T refers to capturing being available.

      • Ahh right, yep thanks for correcting!

  • I was considering getting this so i dont tank some fps from nvidia instant replay being left on.

does anyone have experience with capture cards and knows if i can do the whole “constantly record in background and only actually save(e.g. last 30 seconds) when i want to”

    • It's meant to be pretty open so you can use OBS. It seems like there is a replay buffer which is what you are after.

  • I just bought the XR1 Lite from Scorptec for $99 a few days ago. Dammit!

    • Thanks for sharing, cancelling my order now… still waiting for them to approve via messages :S

Understandable it’s not perfect, and looks like it was falsely represented.

But knowing all that, I’m only buying to stream a Nintendo switch.

The link you sent, cost is over $250. Can’t help but think the reviews would look a lot better if they paid $70aud for it…

  • So is there anything out there that captures 4k at 60fps?, I'm sure will be very expensive

  • -5

Anyway bought so thanks OP, probably will sit on my desk without any use but I've always wanted one, so yeah lolz

PS: love to have my above question answered
    😁

  • I just sold my PS4 but still bought it anyway. Thanks, OP.

Mine arrived today. It is so simple to use. There's a quick guide included with pictures of setup, everything was just plug and play for me to stream switch game on discord. I already had OBS from a cheapo capture card but it didn't have loop/hdmi pass through.

    • Having also come from cheapo capture cards, I also can't speak highly enough of how good the XR-1 is for the money.

  • Got mine and set it up - works perfectly.

FYI, if you're getting dropouts (video cuts off after 30 secs or 3 minutes), you need to use the included USB cable to power it AND don't plug it into a USB hub or Front IO panel - it doesn't get enough power - plug it straight into the motherboard (back IO) and you'll be gravy.

  • They cancelled my order with a message saying "Due to system error, we have oversold this product and it's currently not available in the near future."
