Are you negging it because by your list they will make $52 for putting it together

      • -1

You didn't factor in the shipping costs.

Also, $52 for 20-30mins work isn't bad at all!

What a PC builder fears most, be they an individual or a business, is the after-sales/warranty support. You'd want way better profits than that to cover the headache..

Hence I don't personally build stuff for friends or family (even though I lurve doing it) unless I know they're not going to bother me constantly with issues that are most likely going to be software-related

          • -2

@OSienna: Well the $52 could be seen as an insurance premium instead of the assembly fee, heck they are probably just using high school kids to slap them together and paying them well under $104ph.

The vast majority of ppl buying this would be in the semi-enthusiast category and I would be very surprised if even 5% of units sold encounter any significant support/warranty claims (I plucked 5% from my backside, would be keen to hear what an actual is).

@Grish: You should run a PC business and give us great bargains if you think it’s that easy.

          • @OSienna: Yep, this. I just give them parts & reasons and tell them it's your money buy whatever you want

        • +1

Free c&c , also the mums and dads etc that don't know about computers and have a problem with windows , drivers etc will hassle the seller believing they are responsible for blue screens or windows related problems , i personally don't think $52 is much for 20-30 mins work

      • Considering all Techfast et al deals (and even Dell) where it's cheaper to buy a full system from them than all the individual parts, for an Ozbargain "deal" it generally does need to be cheaper. It's not like there's zero margin being made on the parts.

There's also that suppliers are bundling together parts, so to get a GPU you have to buy a motherboard/psu/whatever. Selling a full system helps get rid of those parts as well. And despite those prices being the cheapest on PCPartPicker you can do things like grab a (3600 bundled with a motherboard)[https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/bundle-amd-ryzen-5-3600-am4-cpu-tray-version-gigabyte-b550m-s2h-am4-matx-motherboard/Bundle-100-000000031-B550M-S2H] from shopping express pretty cheaply.

IMO, with the price gouging on parts that has gone on it's reasonable expectation. Especially when clearing out older CPUs like the 3600, given we're 6 months out 7000 series Ryzen and seeing discounting on 5000 series.

Looks like a way to get rid of outdated or inferior parts.. R5 3600 almost the same price as 5600G/X, and 3050 is just silly….

  • +2

And another crappy deal from them

    • Sounds like they have 20 units to move.. might be difficult to offload quickly at this price (and those specs) - nothing really compelling here

Seller might have to drop their pants if they're trying to get rid of stock but they're better off just offloading the individual parts instead. Even that might be challenge for something like the Ryzen 3600. It's just so old now and who would pay more than $300 for that today?

    • can you point me to the best current deal with this price point?

  • remember when ryzen 3600 and 3060 deal is at 1298. I member
