I was looking around getting quotes for my car because my other insurer had put my renewal up by 20% and GIO gave me a quote that was not only cheaper than the original but also had a free year of roadside and 10% discount for online application.

Mod - GIO does not service QLD/SA (likely AAMI will instead).

  I also recently signed up for gio .. but far the cheapest.

  Also.. tip for using the website to get the cheapest quote. Get a quote using your rego, if you want to try and get another quote for the same car to see if you can get it down, search by make and model, it will come up with a different amount. Do this a few times to get the lowest quote.

    Might give this a try. 1. So get a quote using your rego 2.Get another quote via a different make and model … but how do u equate the different make and model to your rego. You use the same make and model of car u are registering ?

      Yeah… the site will know your make and model by your rego.

      Then if you want to try and get another quote with rego it will come up with the same amount unless you wait a day or so..

      That's what I found.

      So to get another quote, manually select your make and model

  Not promoting my deal - but have you tried this

  I got almost half the quote and ended up cancelling my current insurance and switching to this one, plus cashback.

  GIO is great - highly recommended. No issues with repairs being hindered and had the choice of a panel beater. Also slightly cheaper than its parent Suncorp and RACV.

  Good luck as not all quotes are cheaper with GIO - I swapped away from them to NRMA because NRMA was massively cheaper.
  (clean record, no claims, etc. but they priced it like I was playing GTA)
  Of course, YMMV.

  Even though this is a good deal, i'm sick of seeing special discounts for 'new users only'. Even though some offer certain deals, why can't they look after their clients who are already loyal and dealing with them?
  There are sooooo many deals/offers for new users which suck for the existing…. phone companies especially.
  But have an upvote anyway, because this deal is handy!

  I was with GIO until last month, changed to huddle now..almost 30% cheaper
