  • Bought one. Thanks

  • Solid price. Good find op!

  • Just be careful with the cable, tends to be really fragile on Etymotics!

Usb C or android adapter recommendation?

Sounds wild I know but I’ve heard so many people recommend this one as a great performer that’s hard to beat without spending $100+

      • It works well although I notice a more significant volume reduction compared to a $20 one I got from Amazon that I use for charging and listening at the same time, but it's small and clean.

    • Apple usbc - 3.5. Trust me its the best one out there

  • I wasn't a fan of these compared to the ER4s, but the cable broke within warranty so returned for refund so all worked out well. They are much cheaper than the Er4s so still a good buy.

  • Found these to be uncomfortable. Sound Quality wise they are ok not great.

  • amazing iem. honestly baffling how good these are for 100 bucks

At $100 I don't think you can do any better than these. Sound quality is extremely good, near class leading even at a significantly higher price. The frequency response is nicely judged, with a moderate sub-bass boost and good high frequency extension without making the mids seems recessed as in a lot of consumer audio gear with more of a V-shaped FR.

Noise isolation is very good, approaching that of many active NC products depending on tip type. I use them in situations where I'd otherwise use moderate hearing protection (e.g. mowing), and can listen to music at the same time. They can even fit under many kinds of earmuffs.

They're small and durable, surviving in my pocket during regular use for 18 months or so without issues. Cables are removable which is nice.

I can think of 2 negatives: they have relatively high microphonics from the default cable, and some find fitment to be difficult. With the stock triple-flange tips I found them a little uncomfortable after long periods (2+ hours) at first, but have got more and more used to them, and can now wear them for several hours on end without issue. Foam tips are even more comfortable and better at isolating, but are much more expensive and wear out over time.

    • Great points, also another downside to the er2xr is that imaging is sub par and the soundstage is near non existent. However the tuning and detail is so unbelievably good I dont think anything even comes close at this pricepoint. With the deep insertion, i dare say it almost even sounds more natural than my moondrop blessing 2s.

  • Is this wireless? If not, is there a wireless version of the ER2XR? I want to pair earphones that have the passive noise isolation quality of Etymotic with a Garmin.

      Is this wireless?

Well, there are wires in every one of the product images and it also comes with a 3.5mm to Lightning adapter, so I'd say no.

    • there are mass-produced Bluetooth aux cable transmitters if that works

or adapt the invasive triple-flange or mod memory foam on to your existing earphones

What kind of Garmin? (Watch? Disclaimer to only use these where you do not need situational awareness as the passive noise isolating performance can surpass the majority of active noise-cancelling headphones on the market)

  • Ordered yesterday and received today! These really do block out a lot of noise. Fan noise, rain all just disappears.

    • Saw these and Koss as potential endgame

      ER2XR arrived this week

They appear to have done another retail trick and have re-packaged this box. The Amazon listing did not say secondhand?

Suspicious white flakes inside and a filthy inner box with the middle bulging. The most obvious part is the original clear plastic tabs were sliced before another set of larger circular transparent stickers were placed on top of them.

Not sure how these can occur. Were they sliced up and abraded to add the lightning adapter into the bottom of the package?

(I did not realise you could resell secondhand earphones, especially invasive in-ear monitors, due to hygiene/health safety reasons.)
