Acer Iconia Tab A200 8GB 10.1 Tablet $329 before Cash Back! $280 After Cash Back! Harvey Norman

61

Expired bargain (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/66919) listed this tablet at $299 ($249 after cashback) last month, but maybe you're like me and you think $329 ($280 after cashback) is a good deal? It looks like Acer's cashback on tablets might run out on April 30.

I checked HN stock in my local area on the website and it appears that all 3 stores have them in stock.

I know these are refurbs- but $299 for an ASUS is the deal i would go for.

    +HDMI
    +16gb / vs 8gb
    +Back Camera
    +IPS Display

    Both good deals though

    • That's a nice tablet. I bought a cheap but snappy $100 Chinese one last week but am happy enough with it for the price. Prices should be mainstream(<$200) in 12-18 months for a good reputable branded tablet.

      • tired of waiting for mainstream pricedrop so also thinking about a cheapie - just curios what you bought? Sorry OP for veering offtopic…

        • Here is the link to the thread of the product I bought.

I'd rate it at 7/10 and believe it is v.good value for what it offers, despite some hardware limitations(screen quality, battery life, orientation sensor quirks, front camera).

It works absolutely fine - HD movies, 3D games, web browsing, etc.
ICS 4.0 is a real nice OS. It also accepts external HDDs and file manager is quick to access 1TB of movies and music for ultimate multimedia access, which can then be streamed to a HD TV via a mini-HDMI cable. The biggest downfall is the battery life in real terms is below 2hrs of usage on a full charge, significantly less than the advertised claim of 5hrs. I've since utilised a rather long USB extender cable that allows me to sit close enough to a power point and use comfortably without worrying about battery depleting. It is annoying because it doesn't feel like unrestrained, liberating computing when you gotta be near an AC all the time.

I simply cannot countenance paying $280 when they were $249 less than 3 weeks ago.

I'd tend to lean toward wbeer's idea of the Asus refurb for $19 more in this instance.

This is not a bargain. Marking the price up and absorbing the cash back offered by acer is a common practice in the aussie retailing industry. Giving disocunts only after increasing the retail price does not constitute to a bargain.

  • I read on a review that NVidia promised a sub $300 Tegra 3 tablet is on the way.
