Have been waiting to hear news of new Asus Zenbooks with Full HD screens (due sometime in next month or two).
And now an Asus deal for a Full HD laptop comes up…BAAAAH!

Who cares. Go for the cheaper one with the better processor. Replace the HDD with an SSD seeing as the prices have dropped heaps recently (Good deals from Amazon on Crucial M4s). RAM and HDD are almost pointless factors to determine your purchase as RAM is ridiculously cheap and you are a lot better off with an SSD anyhow.

        Things to note:
        - Has 4 RAM slots with only 1 occupied by the 4GB chip. (4GB RAM ~$25 each so $75 for 16GB RAM upgrade)
        - Keyboard is horrible configuration and crappy feel but can just use an external keyboard.
        - Speaker is pretty good although is quite large and a bit ugly looking.

Took around 2 weeks to be delivered.

        • Also I believe you can hack a backlit keyboard into this model with relative ease :)

        • So, is there any need to upgrade the ram if you are putting in an SSD?

Hard drives are cheaper these days and with Full HD and i7 2670QM processor its not a bad deal with free delivery. And with 'SCOOPONSPECIAL' coupon code you get further 5% off. I would go for $849 one. This one has better processor.

After 5% off it comes to $806.55

better screen vs better graphics card

      • ya 6770 is much better~
if u want a gaming notebook must go for 6135

      • +1

        Asus wins easily anyday.

        • Alright, now I'm defenitely confused… :( Haha. I want a laptop asap desperately for work but everyone gives differing opinions!!

        • HP for gaming because the graphics card is better
ASUS for everything else because the build quality is significantly better.

  • I have a n53s and am not happy with the keyboard configeration. I would check that out first, otherwise am happy. p.s. I didn't buy it from COD

I have had the N53SV with FHD for over a year now. I can't fault the laptop. I use it on a daily basis (for work and games). I replaced the hard drive it came with (750GB) with a hybrid, it works a treat, can't complain and plays all the latest games without any issues (albeit not at 1920*1080).

What you will need to do is remove all the ASUS crap off it and install a fresh install of windows. Also the keyboard has a little flex, but using it for over a year, i don't mind it, still the keyboard is not as nice as my old dell.

I would go for the cheaper one, get an SSD and you're set for around ~$1100.

Actually contemplating getting one for the wife…

  • I was seriously considering buying this but after watching the degree of keyboard flex I think I will give it a miss:

Scary! Are they all this bad?

    • When you're typing you don't actually press the keys that hard. So like I said, it does flex, but it was a non-issue for me.

  • okay just bought the $849 one :) Hopefully I dont regret it! And hopefully it can handle diablo 3…

    Thanks
