    Natural peanut butter is better

    • Pic's contains either one ingredient or two. Peanuts, and sometimes salt.

      • -1

It doesn't say natural, so will likely contain some sort of hydrogenated oil like vegetable or Palmolive oil etc.

        • No, it does not. It contains peanuts, and sometimes salt.

          • @[Deactivated]: When you go in store see if it has a oily later at the top, (if so it is natural).

The more the oily layer at top, more natural, and UN-hydrogenated the peanut butter is.

@USER DC: The manufacturer explicitly says it has up to two ingredients: peanuts and salt. I don't know why you're so hung up on it needing a specific word on the jar.

        • Pic's and Mayver's do not have added oil

      • I just wish they did not put salt in this, so not necessary

        • +2

They have an unsalted version too - just look for the one that says "No Salt Added"

  • Thanks OP. Been a long time since the last 50% reduction.

  • Argentina or China sourced peanuts ?

    • +1

Pics is usually Australian. They went 50/50 during the great peanut shortage of 2021.

      • Pics is a Kiwi brand, not sure if they make it here though.

        • They don't. It's made in Nelson.

      From their website:

Having tasted peanut butter from all over the world, we know our peanuts are special. We use only the finest Hi Oleic peanuts, sustainably grown by farmers in Australia, Brazil, Zambia, and Nicaragua.

      So, neither.

  • Damn I refill Mayver from Coles :)

    • +1

      Mayvers is cheaper

  • Pics is so good!

  • +3

Can't tell the diff between pics n mayver.

    • You'd hope not. They're both made by just crushing peanuts!

      • Different grades of nuts used perhaps? ;)

        • Both of them use Australian peanuts, Mayver's falls back on Argentinian when they can't get Australian, Pic's is Australia, Brazil, Zambia and Nicaragua. Pic's says they go for "hi oleic" nuts, maybe that's it? Mayver's doesn't say the same but they do claim to carefully select them.

I can’t find the Pics peanut butter in the catalogue, does anyone know what page it is on?

    • On page 4 of the NSW Catalogue.

EDIT: just did a quick check of the WA catalogue, and it appears alot of the special are missing. I'm assuming due to the supply issues in WA.

      • Thanks for that yeah good point that would explain it. Our shelves are half empty.

  • Just scanned it in WA yup still full price :(
