Maybe people that bought from that deal can comment on effectiveness. I know when I used to buy bleach for my pool, I could check the production date and always ensured it was less than 3 months old.

      I've used other name brand mould products but the Aldi beat them all except for a selleys high chlorine version.

      Aldi’s is the best. Also with mould killer, you only buy when needed, i.e. winter months, because the chemical tends to break down over time, therefore less effective. And Aldi’s mould away contains alkaline salt that prevent or at least slows the mould ever coming back again.

        Coles brand also has the same chemical composition. Check the neck of the bottle for expiry date (has a very short shelf life).

    Best mould cleaner - go to Coles and get their extra strong vinegar (8% acetic acid). Put it in a spray bottle, spray dry shower and leave for a couple of hours. Scrub if needed.

    Voila… Done. And no bad chemicals, bleaches, etc. and cheap.

    And if you spray one or twice a week you'll never need to scrub mould again.

      +1 to ^ this. Vinegar will actually penetrate a surface to kill mould within a substrate whereas bleach products will only kill surface mould, causing the mould to continually come back. Vinegar generally isnt as good at cleaning surface mould though, so worth noting.

      NOTE: if you plan to use both vinegar and bleach products make sure you use them many days apart and when the area is totally dry. Vinegar + Bleach = Chlorine Gas = Deadly.

        would guess - vinegar is often suggested for use in carpet ('steam') cleaning machines - instead of the expensive detergents

        although it's a hard choice, keeping windows maybe 2cm open in winter can help reduce condensation of warm moist air (from breathing, bathing, cooking) on cold surfaces close to external windows and walls in winter

      This is a wrong statement, depends on the weather temperature and humidity, especially in the rooms without direct sun light, mould can grow easily.

      if you live in a tent, have good cross-ventilation, and/or live in a dry climate you might never see mould

      I've seen tenants (Korean international students) in a Sydney unit complain about mould - turned out it was illegally overcrowded, they'd closed tight all doors and windows in winter to 'save on heating', had a saucepan of boiling water for regular instant noodles on the stove, and the air felt clammy like a steam room. The glass windows were running with water, which was also dripping off the ceiling onto their faces while they slept, so they'd taped paper to the ceiling, which was black with mould …
