      • thank you mate. may look at switching. Was it a smooth switch over and how long did it take to get reimbursed unused days with Superloop?

        • Oh - I must say - the switch was a bit tricky. I switched over on the last day of my superloop cycle so didn’t have to worry about refunds etc.
they let you put a date for the switch, but as I was on my last day of superloop, I didn’t put a date as it said no date meant immediate switch over. However, my switch wasn’t completed until the following day. I had to call up customer support and was advised that I should have put todays date as they process any requests with date first and leave the blank dates to the end. So my two cents - put your date, and you should be ok.
Not sure if superloop prorate though - might be worth checking.

    • I was with Superloop before I switched to More.

I would say the performance are similar but More cost a lot less with the discount.

      The switch is ok.
You will receive a message from Superloop confirming switch and close account.

The only issue is Superloop disconnect your internet right after you reply to the message.

Waited around 4 hrs to get More set up everything and back online…

      • Hi, I have ordered More and have received a notification from them that the “NBN is ready to go”.

Does this mean I need to wait for an email from Superloop first, confirm/reply that, and then the cut off will happen?

Or do I need to call Superloop and disconnect the service first?

        Thanks

the upload speeds are terrable for those of us that work from home not having at least 100mbps UPLOAD speeds is a joke.

I have a 250mbps download and 100mbps upload FTTP and it costs me 158 per month but its well worth the money for the upload speeds alone.

      • Yup 20mbps has been fine for my Citrix WFH that’s with 5 other people in the house

      • not every one uses Cytrix, and most people use VPN tunnels, and speed is important copying over a network.

          • @[Deactivated]: I work in IT I can list many companied big or small that have this running over the course of the last 10 years.

              • @[Deactivated]: I immediately switch off when someone says I'm in IT and proceeds to give me advice on what I need. I used to be in IT for many years (whatever that means) which was full of nerdy types who never understood the concept of fit for purpose.

    • +7

Not all of us are streaming uploads to Only Fans as out work from home. 20 Mbps is fine for me and my many Zoom, Teams etc.. meetings.

    • What do you upload for work that requires a 10MB a second upload?

    • +1

needing more than about 20mbps upload is incredibly rare for most WFH people. I am one of those as I need to occassionally upload VM images etc, but if it wasn't for that I would get by fine on 20mbps as rest of the job is just server admin type work and voice and video calls/meetings/workshops.

    • I work in data and analytics, and the uploads help. Most of our software is server side/thin client type stuff, so that's fine. But we have some software that runs locally (most notably PowerBI desktop), and having to pull lots of data down, and then upload it back up when you save, is a pain without decent uploads.

I have 100/40, only for the 40. Don't need the 100. I'd get 50/50 if it were an option.

We are moving to Azure Remote Desktop soon, so this will be a moot point and I'll probably drop back to 50/20 after that.

  • Not for me. 4 years cba customer - commsec, cc, multiple bank accts

  • I get even more desperate when I see how long other members have been with CAB as I'm just four years old customer. smh!

  • currently with them on 30% discount from last deal.

    so far so good.

    • What are their speeds during peak like?

      • +2

I am on their 50/20 plan and my speed test consistently shows around 52 mbps down all day including peak.

        • thanks…

          what are the pings like?

          • +1

@jv: Just did a speed test on my phone- here is the result
            DOWNLOAD MbpS
            52.1
            © UPLOAD Mbps
            18.7
            © Ping 4ms| @ Jitter 0.84ms | © Loss 0%

            • @Dealking: thanks…

seems worth a try for those who get the offer…

              • @jv: Absolutely - and there is nothing to lose as there is no contract or connection fees. I took the leap of faith prepared to make another switch if required, but haven’t been disappointed

            • @Dealking: Thats a nice ping! I am on superloop 100/20 and always get 104/18 and pings never go below 7ms.

              • @John Doh: Not sure if it has much to do with how far I may be from the exchange etc. Also, I am in a newer estate (<4 years old) - but the NBN infrastructure should be new everywhere so that shouldn’t make much of a difference I believe.

            • @Dealking: Can you please perform oversea ping test?
https://www.meter.net/ping-test/ and change server to Japan?
It is the most important matter to me and thanks in advance

      • I'm on 250/25 plan
        got 260+/20 ish including peak

    • 👆same - disappointed that I am missing out on the extra discount.
On a side note - so far happy with the speeds coming from superloop.

      • did you buy the costco couch?

        • Lol - no. I don’t have the space for it.

  • Please do not ask for codes here, use the code request megathread

  • Is their technical support as good as AussieBB?

    • +1

No I don't think so. I have found their technical support a bit frustrating to deal with at times compared to Aussie, but the discount is enough to live with the frustration for now.

  • -1

One day someone will challenge selective offers like this on the grounds of discrimination.

    • +1

how? you aren't entitled to receive any offer, that is like suggesting you offering a friend a discount is grounds for your other friends to sue you for discrimination. The best way to challenge being excluded from offers is to take your business elsewhere.

  • +4

Looks like it's not for loyalty CBA customers, CBA loyalty customers are considered as dumb people :) by CBA.

    • exactly, sadly I am in that boat as I have my home loan and margin loans through them so it is awkward to move. But looking to dump them later this year once a few other financial transactions I have tied up with them are over. Really bugs me that loyalty is punished. hence why I churn credit cards now, bugger loyalty when disloyalty is what you get rewarded for.

  • sign up for share trading CDIA account for fee-free CBA savings account/everyday access

    • Wondering if you had luck with signing up and then receiving a offer like this one immediately! Would go ahead and open an account if there is chance 😀

  • 40%? shxxt, on board with the 30% off from last deal and of course not receiving the offer this time.

  • +14

NBN is overpriced. These should have been the actual prices of internet, if not cheaper.

    • Vote them out.

  • Cash back for new balance and toysrus only. Do I miss something?

  • Should I wait until they increase the saving to 50%

  • -1

I received 30% discount code only yesterday, not 40%. Signed up for 250 speed @ $83.3 per month. I will speak to billing team now and see if they can offer 40% instead.

    • +1

I'd be interested to see how you go…i only got 30% as well :(

      • No luck with Customer service. They didn't offer anything apart from 30%

        • Yeah i tried my luck as well…oh well, worth a shot.
I'm currently on My Republic from years ago so probably time to move anyway. Can get 100mb for the same price as i'm paying for 50mb with MR.

    • I too received a 30% discount code.

I'm currently with Superloop paying $93 per month for their 250 plan so looks like it'll be worth swapping. How are you finding the speeds with More?

      • +1

I moved from superloop a few months ago with the 40% discount offer. Internet Service is comparable (with random slowdowns). Customer service from More is much more responsive.

    • -8

Does is matter who your provider is if its all NBN handling the traffic?

      • +4

Yes, it matters. The nbn is a last mile network, at each Point of Interconnect (POI) it connects to your ISP's Point of Presence (POP). Your ISP is then responsible for routing of your traffic to local and international servers, and their network setup can be different.

        • Isnt NBN the infrastructure pipe in Australia? Why do I get an email saying your order has been submitted to NBN? I thought the ISPs just purchase stuff from NBN and just sell it to us.

          • @John Doh: the nbn is made up of 121 small networks, each one connected at the POI. Backhaul between those POIs is not a part of the nbn - among other reasons, the decision was made so as to protect the value of companies providing those fibre links (Vocus etc)

            • @Domingo: Cool, thanks. I had understood it the other way. lol.

      • LOL, why are people downvoting for asking a valid question. I am still new to NBN.

        • I think because it reads like an implied statements of "The NBN handles all your traffic" "therefore why does it matter", since the premise of the question is wrong it got downvoted. Perhaps you could have worded it better if you were genuinely asking if NBN handles all the traffic.

    • Why would DNS make a difference and wouldn't a traceroute make more sense?

    • 200-210ms.

        • oh well, better stay with SL then…

  • Is 250 the fastest plan they have? Superloop has 1000/40

Hmm I’m CBA but no offer anyway

    • +1

More Telecom offer a maximim NBN tier of 250/25, unfortunately.

  • Anyone have tried latency/ping test for overseas such as Singapore, Japan, US west?
Latency is more important to me than download speed for online gaming.
From my experience, Japan 150~180 (ABB), 180~210 (TPG)

  • I have never heard of this company until now. I had a bit of a look at online reviews and they dont get ABB type reviews but at least they arent getting TPG lower end reviews.

Anyone had any experience with them?

  • I dont understand how they would be making any money at these prices..

    • Neither was EPIC making any money giving away those free games. One got to do some marketing to show the world they exists and they are better.

    • +1

Probably being funded by the CBA as they've partnered with More/Tangerine. So they want growth at the moment.

  • No offer on mine too, I have two loans with then plus day to day banking.

  • NBN250 was $80 at wholesale rates, so they are most likely taking a small loss on top of business costs etc. Must be spending to gain customers, 2yrs is fairly long.

    • +3

Obviously being bankrolled by CBA as CBA have a part ownership in More Telecom. Considering that CBA makes thousands of dollars every month from me and others in interest on our mortgages, $15 to $20 off every month is hardly making them poor. They just see it as a marketing exercise to get customers to feel that they are getting some benefits.

      • -1

how noble of you however let's be honest, the bank does not make "thousands of dollars" in net interest margin from you. they have costs, bruh

        • +1

yeah bruh,i am sure the $15 discount i could get is very painful for CBA.

          • -2

@techno2000: Bruh, they have 9,000,000 customers. $135M gift…. As a shareholder, I hope they don’t adopt your Red Cross mentality

            • @chickenchipsgravy: assuming it is $15 per month, so for 24 month is $360, so for 1mil customer that is $360mil, for 5mil customer that is $1.8 billion over 2 years, but guess it comes out of More Telecom not directly CBA as I understand they don't own 100% of More.

              • @huntabargain: CBA has a 25% share of More and Tangerine.
You'll find this on the ASX.

  • +2

Ok guys, just got off the phone with CBA. This offer cannot and will not be enabled for those that did not receive it (the comment by the support person was quite blunt) and the offer is based on "spending history".

I find that quite odd as I have been a CBA customer for many many years and I'd say my spending history is quite good.

    ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    • +1

The question is spend on what. I have 2M home loan with them which is considered as spend zero.

    • I have 2x saving acc, Visa credit card, 2x home loans, CDIA acc, and never got any offer. I was told you need Mastercard either debit or credit to get any offers. So I linked Mastercard debit to one of the saving account and started getting some offers but it was rubbish ones throu LittleBirdy, may be as I don't spend any $$ on that account!

    • +1

Perhaps the spend history means what you've been buying e.g. ISP services, or not ISP services, or something else related. Not how much you've been spending in total.

      • According to the CBA They will utilise their technology to provide personalised offers via the CommBank app to those customers they know will benefit from switching broadband providers. I'm guessing that everyone who has received this offer pays their current provider via a CommBank account so they're targeting people.

I wonder what RSPs people who have received the offer are with? Is it the people on "Premium" providers or across the board?

It could also be how long they've been paying the same bill or even Direct Debit setups. The bank would need to pay for certain bank to bank transactions, so maybe they're getting much more savings out of this than the end users, but it works well as it could be a win/win situation.

        • I have never used CBA to pay for my phone bills, I always use my Amex card to pay and my current provider is Telstra.

        • Dont think thats the case. I've been paying ISP through my account for over 10 years and I didnt receive any offer

        • +1

I use Commbank to direct debit ABB.. no offer for me

    • ¯_(ツ)__/¯

      ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fixed him up for you. 😉

      • Thanks, not sure why that happened. He was definitely 'complete' when I pasted him.

    • They probably have a limit on the number of people who can take this up. And they probably have a predictive model to work out who is most likely to respond to the offer and purchase.

The model is probably a "machine learning" model, and may contain dozens and dozens of different things. The support person won't be able to tell you exactly how it works. Hell, even the analyst who built it won't be able to tell you exactly how it works. But it spits out a number, and everyone above X would have been offered.

      • +1

Well they certainly predicted incorrectly with me, as I would have taken up the offer :)

  • +4

btw if you have a mate working with CBA who can sign-up with their work email for you, you can score a 50% off for 6 months.

edit: Via the internal staffdeals link (not the one available in More's website)

  • Tried to get a discount over chat with More Telecom and had no luck. Would probably jump even if they only offered 20%
