  • is it targetted ? I cant see it

    • i'd guess so. almost all of the commbank rewards are targeted, even the small ones.

      • -1

I guess it could be only for customers who are holding CBA home loan !!

        • +4

well I have a CBA home loan and I didn't get it.

        • I don't have home loan with CBA but I still have the offer.

    • yes. I didn't get it.

  • +25

Didn’t get this deal mate. Long time comm bank customer. Disappointed

    • +28

      Long time comm bank customer.

They know you're going to stuck with them for longer then

    • Same here, I've had a CBA account for years and this offer isn't available. It wasn't available last time for me from CBA app with Mate either, then I emailed to see if there was a way to get this deal and Mate simply didn't reply.
I'd assume Mate doesn't buy enough CVC for busy periods to avoid congestion, at this price, but I'd be willing to try it and happy to be proven wrong.

      • Second that about Mate. They were good in past before Superloop reduced their price of NBN50. I was with them for around 6 months and I had no issues. I went back to test for NBN100 @$79 a month and it wasn't a pleasant experience.

Things will buffer and pings for gaming on HK server will be over 200+ ms. I switched back to Superloop for NBN50 and have 0 issues so far.

I will give More telecom a try for 12 months as I have a CBA card.

    • Long time comm bank customer. Disappointed

      Yeah, it's pretty bad.

They've reduced the number of tellers and the queues just keep getting longer…

      • +3

Maybe it’s time to look into online banking….

        • +1

How do I cash a cheque online?

          • @jv: How often do you get cheques?

            • @tomsco: Ha, didn't think cheques even existed any more. It's 2022. Who would of thought. I guess bank cheques are still issued

              • @Geoff01: Yeah, I'm sure there's still the odd cheque you'd get here and there (I actually got one recently as an ex customer of Commbank for some refund years ago), but I would not imagine it would be frequent enough to be an actual issue.

Sure, once a year have a grumble having to wait in line to cash a cheque for some refund from a utility company… but if you're dealing with customers, just tell them to pay EFT.

              • @Geoff01: crazily, my bank sent me a cheque to refund overcharged fees…. it was so inconvenient - they debited the fees automatically why couldn't they just put them back! FFS!

          • @jv: Ask for an online transfer instead of a cheque. Its been over a decade or two since people have been doing this.

            • +2

              @John Doh:

Ask for an online transfer instead of a cheque

Some customers only pay by cheque.

              • +5

@jv: You can cash cheques at lots of CommBank ATMs.

                • +1

                  @Lionking48:

You can cash cheques at lots of CommBank ATMs.

                  Is that something new?

I know you can deposit them, but in the past, it would not cash them.

              • @jv: As long as you can wait a day or to, get your customer to cash the cheque for you.

          • +1

@jv: Well I don't know about the comm bank ap but with Westpak in the ap there is a section to cash cheques by taking a photo of both sides . Takes a day or so to clear .

            • +4

              @TrippleDman:

Takes a day or so to clear .

That's not the same as getting cash for it straight away via a teller.

              • +2

@jv: Curious, what do you do for a living to be accepting payments in cheque? And what is the the general demographic of people handing them to you?

                • @dsp26: Do you work for the ATO ?

                  • +1

@jv: ATO are more interested in cash, not cheques.

                • @dsp26: He might me talking about Cash Cheque (please pay cash) with no name written, that can be cashed from teller!

                • @dsp26: JV’s full time job is Internet Troll. It’s a tough gig but every forum needs one.

              • +1

                @jv: Cashflow problems, jv?

Deposit cheque at ATM. Withdraw cash few days later.

          • +4

@jv: I can see you writing cheques …. one hundred and ninety nine dollars FIFTY cents

          • +1

@jv: The nab app let's you do it on your phone for free. I've done this several times

            https://www.nab.com.au/personal/online-banking/mobile-bankin…

          • @jv: USE NAB app , you can just scan the cheque then BIN the cheque :)
that's the only reason I use Nab :) but there is limit on the amount on the cheque.
get a free nab account and try

          • @jv: With NAB you can. As long as it is in AUD and your name…

Just take scan in app and thats it.

I took a cheque into the branch and they told me it would be faster if i done myself on the app

            • @wako:

              With NAB you can.

How does the app give you cash?

        • I went to a business yesterday that asked me to fax them some information…

          • +8

@jastreb: Were you dealing with jv by any chance ?

    • Join the club.

    • 17.5 years with CBA and I haven't received this as well. We're suckers, apparently. 😠

  • Can't find it in my CommBank app - is it appearing just as one of the tiles on the main page of "for you"?

Perhaps having a (very long term) debit/savings account only and not a CC with them is my issue?

    • yep, its the very first tile on the 'for you' page. i don't have a cc with cba, but do have loan/commsec

    • +6

I m customer for almost 16 years with savings, credits, business account.. can't see anything..may be targeted..

      • +1

I'm customer for 71 years since Dollarmites. Nothing for me.

    • +2

Dont have it.. have had my original account since dollarmites in 1989, all my family accounts, cdia account, diamond awards credit card and home loan and didnt get it.

Truly dont understand their partnership/deal acquisition and targeting logic

    • +1

I still use the account I got at primary school in the 1960's for my day to day stuff.. Bank tellers have even commented that it is an usual account number these days… So definitely not the length of time of the business relationship.. As a mater of interest the only deals I am offered are for the dodgy payday advance semi-scams and some stupid cloths store called the iconic …

  • only 30% off for me

    • same I only got 30% off :(

  • Yeah disappointed it's targeted/I havent been.

I just have a transaction account I use for monthly bills/debits.

  • +1

Keep getting financial related promos - step pay, loans etc I think they're trying to tell me something…

    • +1

They gave me the step pay promo then denied me lol

      • lol.. that's a hilarious fail CBA.

This reminds me to use StepPay if only for the cashback

      • +1

Commbank has really bad promotions matrix. The Ai used to send these offers don't really used a financial computation to match if the customers is suitable for their products.

As such when it comes to proper analysis 50% of these offers are sent to people who either don't need them or ineligible for the product in the first place.

  • +1

Confirm it’s a targeted, I received the similar offer only mines is 30% off

  • No bingo for me

    • +1

      bingo!
      but also 30% not 40% ):

  • +6

So any feedback from OzBargainers who signed up with more NBN end of last year?

      • I made the switch from superloop and the speeds are comparable. See my Speedtest results In a different reply below. Happy to take questions !

        • How's the ping difference compared to SL?

          • @chonkie: My current ping with more is 4ms - cant remember how it was with SL.

      • +1

😯 More/Tangerine Telecom the same as ABB? Well I'll be damned!

I've used Tangerine previously and before the extra CVC from NBN, it would struggle at peak times. Since the introduction of the extra CVC most providers are can handle it better, but the cheaper providers don't usually provide adequate CVC. For basic web browsing and streaming most people won't notice the difference, but if you're a power user, I'm sure there are better alternatives.

I believe both More/Tangerine use PPPoE, so need to make sure your modem/router supports it.

        • +1

Turns out I'm confusing Swoop and More, they both had deals around the same time in November, my bad!

          • @jasswolf: I don't believe Swoop is AussieBB either, they appear to be a separate company called Cirrus Communications, they have been on a spending spree, buying up a number of RSPs.

You could be getting mixed up as they also appear to be based in Regional Victoria.

AussieBB was/is Wideband Networks and WestVic Broadband.

            • @Cousin IT: As in a similar approach to bandwidth provisioning while maintaining a competitive price.

    • +1

They are the same to Tangerine Telecom. Speed wise quite good, just the user portal is basic and no options gor static ip and Ipv6

    • I changed over from Superloop when they offered me 30% off tor 24 months. No issues so far.

  • +5

What a disappointment. Have had a combank account for over 10 years, didn't get this or the last one.

  • +1

    Wish they'd introduce gigabit plans.

    • +2

Superloop has 1000/50 at $99 a month for the first 6 months. No contract.

      • +1

Can only see 119.95. Where did you see gigabit for $99/m?

        • Shows it in mine if I go to change plans. They've had this for a long time.
Not sure why it's not showing for new users, perhaps they've removed that recently. Sorry.

          • @SimAus007: Not heard of anyone paying $99 for 1000/50 on Superloop. Do you have a screenshot?

            • @ChillBro: I know plenty on it, including me.
I can show you my invoice, I'll just have to block out my details.

          • @SimAus007: Bummer, mine is showing $119pm if I go to change plans… Or $99 for 250/25.

            • @Binchicken22: Yeah they've just changed their plans and pricing.
If you look at their website they don't even offer 1000/50 to new customers now and have that shaped at 500/50 (not even an NBN speed tier but a shaping of the 1000/50 by Superloop)

            • +1

@Binchicken22: Keep in mind you can get 1000/50 at 1 month for free from Aussie BB, so even if you stayed for 2 months, then went somewhere else after that (paid for second month) that's $74.50/month for 1000/50 (staying for 2 months)

  • I assume modem is not included?

    • +4

They are all BYO modem/router now unless you are agreeing to a contract.
Better buying your own higher performance one as most ISP supplied ("free") ones aren't that great.

      • I have dodo one , will that work?

        • No reason why it wouldn't if you are using it at the same address (same NBN technology) with Dodo now on the NBN.
What NBN technology are you on? FttP, FttC, FttN, HFC?

        • Some providers block PPPoE or have a special config that automatically deploys and changes the details effectively disconnecting you every so often. Example of this would be TPG and their umbrella brands.

According to this Whirlpool chat it is unlocked (well if that's the model you have), but it also seems the modems are now leased and Dodo will request it back or charge you for it. As per SimAus007's post, you're better off getting your own higher performance device that you can make sure works better and everywhere.

      • @SimAUS007 - Do you have any inputs or suggestions on buying a compatible modem as I have received this offer? Last time I tried to switch from TPG to Superloop, I got to know that TPG's modem was locked to their service and my life was made hell to and fro. :( Ultimately I ended up staying with TPG and they provided me with an upgraded modem TP-LINK (Archer VR1600v), assuming still locked. Currently using NBN 100MBps|20MBps speed plan with TPG and paying $80.

        • +1

One of the more popular ones is the Netcomm NF18MESH, which covers VDSL2 (AKA fibre to the curb/fibre to the node) - More Telecom and Aussie Broadband both provide phone technical support for this device - their staff are trained to support this one if you need any help.
Or just search for VDSL2 modems online, there are a few review sites to compare them.
Might even find a good deal on ebay.

  • +1

I'm using them at the moment, awesome deal and speed is compareable to Superloop and AussieBB from my experience.

    • Was there any extra cost for transfer?

      • Not for me and I think that's generally the case when you change NBN providers since the NBN box has already been installed. I think there's only a connection fee if your place hasn't had NBN before. It was actually really convenient because I could nominate a day and time to switch over - i did it at night when I was working from home.

    • -2

Superloop keeps taking hiccups all the day.. i guess More is trying to trap.. with 5g become more accessible days of nbn is counted..

      • +4

I have 5G Home Internet as a backup as I'm working from home and I'm right near the 5G tower and get reasonable speeds and full signal, but it isn't close to NBN fibre or even HFC performance.
Latency is terrible on 5G compared with my NBN and during peak periods 5G in my area slows down a lot as the tower is sharing the load of all users pulling down data at the same time (will only get worse as more users move to 5G).
It depends on what you use it for, but for me 5G doesn't cut it for my main internet use.

        • +5

I think people get overexcited about 4G/5G as a NBN replacement.

Yes outright download speeds can be faster but overall internet browsing can be slow due to Latency.

What's your ping like with 5G?

          • +2

@JimB: Ping is usually between 22 to 25ms Telstra 5G - Cremorne Vic Mattel cell, line of site (speeds fluctuate between 80Mbps to 680Mbps)
On FttP NBN it's between 2 to 3ms on Superloop (speeds between 910 to 960Mbps)

  • +1

I guess CBA customers could reach out to them and get a group discount?

  • Currently on Superloop and considering switching over for some savings.. Anyone have experience with both RSPs?

    • Me - I switched over from superloop - no complaints with superloop, just found the rates with the extra discount better. See my comment below regarding speeds. Happy so far.
