Ah, another attempt to buy votes (with your money by the way)

8M~ population in NSW, not all are working.
The ones that are, "taxpayers", have to also pick up the tab for the $500 childcare vouchers and $43M Festival Fund released one day after the Hillsong party got reported but not fined.

A mini-stimulus package funded by your own wallet!

There should be some deals coming up on Klook (like in the past) that doubles the redemption value, so that's nice.

If the liberals get elected again I’m going to go on with my life assuming majority of Australians are brain damaged or have some kind of humiliation kink

      • -4

Same thing for Labor in QLD, WA and VIC though

          • +16

@1st-Amendment: McGowan won in an absolute landslide victory. So I reckon people in WA think he's doing a great job.

Liberal OR labor. Liberal = Labor, only a few years delayed. (They take a little longer to succumb to the same mental illnesses.)

Why should taxpayers who don't have kids or kids that don't use the public system have to pay for other people's children activities

heh, thats a new one haven't heard before.

        • +1

heh, thats a new one haven't heard before.

That would be in reference to the childcare vouchers
$155M fund doesn't come out of thin air

According to Australian Bureau of Statistics
There are 4,137,200 employed people in NSW
$155M/4.1372M = $37.46 contribution per employed person towards the childcare vouchers

If we use the same employment number, then we can also estimate the cost per person for the festival relief fund
          $43M/4.1372M = $10.39
Why are my tax contributions going towards people's fee-paying festivals?

          • +6

@cwongtech: Throw in $19,686 a minute in fossil fuel subsidies, 10.3 billion in 2020 alone.

Also 2.5% of our GDP (50 billion) is to be spent on the military a year, and those 8 submarines we purchased from the US may cost us 171 billion, just so we can please americas military industrial complex and make us seem more hostile to our neighbors.

Lets see, we've also got corporate welfare where 12.5 billion in jobkeeper went to businesses that had no downturn. We have a tax dodger problem, two of those tax dodgers, over 7 years Exxon Mobil made $71 billion and Murdochs newscorp/foxtel made 1.7 billion and yet either paid any tax.

The liberals and their friends in the media will screech about the debt when labor was elected along long time ago, which was minuscule in comparison, yet are completely silent about it now while they siphon off our money and resources.

Hopefully my fellow Australians can see through their ruse of "free vouchers", media propaganda, fear mongering and get these (profanity) out of office. Then we get the federal ICAC/guillotine

Throw in $19,686 a minute in fossil fuel subsidies

Only if you don't understand how most of those 'subsidies' work.
A tax concession doesn't cost the taxpayer a cent because it's not taxpayer funds being given to someone, it's a tax not being collected if a businesses creates something deemed useful to society.

ie When the NSW gov gives out a childcare voucher, that is my money being spent. If they give a tax concession to a business, none of my money is being used.

              • +5

@1st-Amendment: handing out money already collected and choosing not to collect money are the same thing and both cost taxpayers, no need to try and justify one while being mad about the other

They are clearly not the same thing to anyone who has more than 3 hours of economics education. Which is pretty much the entire Labor party and its' supporter base.

              • +4

@1st-Amendment: Yeah, but if a concession is not given, then more tax is collected.
You're being pedantic, the maths is the same. Foregone tax is the same as a voucher given.

                  @xylarr:

Yeah, but if a concession is not given, then more tax is collected.

No it isn't. Elasticity is a well understood concept in economics, clearly you don't know what that is.

You're being pedantic, the maths is the same.

Actually it's not, and just claiming something to be true doesn't make it so.

Foregone tax is the same as a voucher given.

                  Nope.

Here's a primer if you are interested is learning something new: https://www.grin.com/document/432952

              • @1st-Amendment:

A tax concession doesn't cost the taxpayer a cent

Waiting taxpayer money, or not collecting appropriate taxes = public money lost.

                Same same. Public loses out.

Yes, completely agree, we're footing the bill, last time it was labour and now this time its liberal.

Last time it was Labor during 2008 with $10B and also the NBN (which doesn't happen overnight, got rekt by Malcolm Fraudband/Gimp NBN) which still managed to provide WFH capabilities during COVID lockdown and now we see its critical functionality (and also plans to replace FTTN with Fibre.. right after Gimp NBN was completed) .

This time it's JobKeeper/Jobseeker packages, $311bn. Notice how they no longer talk about the "budget surplus" anymore.
Ol' mate Gerry Harvey eating that handout pie

Just got a $1400 speeding fine for going 44km/h in a 30km/h school zone at 11pm on a saturday from a school zone speed camera.

Since when are school zones 30km/h, and active at 11pm?
Sounds like grounds for a challenge..

        • yeah rep from revenue, first time hearing about it.

        • +9

also the NBN (which doesn't happen overnight, got rekt by Malcolm Fraudband/Gimp NBN)

Ah got love that Muppet Malcolm. Spoke about how it weren't for him and delivering nbn quicker through mixed mode technology, most people wouldn't have a good enough connection during covid, compared to Labor's plan, which would have taken longer to deliver.

Umm… If it weren't for Labor, there would be no nbn and we'd still rely on good old wholesale Telstra ADSL.

School zones are 40 and during school hours.

It sounds like you were speeding in a pedestrian shared zone.

        • And by the amount of the fine, doing 30+ the speed limit

        • -3

idk, i dont know the area. also its not 40 km/h in all areas sadly, its reduced to a disgustingly low 30 in some.

          • +1

@sunnyc: It’s called paying attention to speed limit signs while you’re driving. Unfamiliarity with an area isn’t an excuse.

$1400 speeding fine for going 44km/h in a 30km/h school zone at 11pm on a saturday from a school zone speed camera.

I call BS! School zones are 40km/hr and aren't operating at 11pm.

        • Firstly they reducing speeds to 30km in some areas. Secondly that’s why I’m confused, it’s listed as school speed camera. If you’re saying 40km/h fixed speed camera. I shouldn’t been flashed at 44 rather 46km/h

          • @sunnyc:

Firstly they reducing speeds to 30km in some areas

            Not in school zones.

it’s listed as school speed camera

Who has listed it as school speed camera?

If you’re saying 40km/h fixed speed camera. I shouldn’t been flashed at 44 rather 46km/h

            WTF?!?!

Only $1400 speeding fine I can find in NSW is for a vehicle over 12T exceeding speed limit by 30+km/h.

            • @OzBragain: Let’s take a bet, $1500don’t like wasting time with a smart ass. Put your money where your mouth is. 30km/h in school zones. Secondly It’s a company fine, it will reduce to $200-300 and 3 points after nomination.

              • @sunnyc: Are you able to take a photo of the fine letter but black out personal details?

Once the new speed limits are operational, the existing speed camera on Bigge Street in Liverpool in front of All Saints College will enforce the new 30 km/h speed limit during school zone times.

                    • +2

@sunnyc: Thank you for sharing, and blowing my mind..
I've just checked out the area on Google Maps and in my opinion is completely retarded and smells of deliberate revenue raising.

If I were you I'd challenge it based on confusing signage and unfamiliarity of the area (I Am Not a Lawyer), $1400 fine means approximately $2000 pre-tax income, so for me it's about the money and the principle and I would fight it.

Travelling Southbound from a northern part of Bigge street in Liverpool..

We start off with a 50 sign near a roundabout

Once the new speed limits are operational, the existing speed camera on Bigge Street in Liverpool in front of All Saints College will enforce the new 30 km/h speed limit during school zone times.

According to that line, it implies it's only active during school zone hours which clearly it is not, but when you look into google maps, it appears the entire area is classed as a high pedestrian area, which means the school zones sign telling you the speed limit is 30km/h is redundant.

Furthermore, when it says "School Zone Ends", the.. speed limit returns to 30km/h…?

The Speed Camera 24 hours sign with "Variable speed limits enforced" would imply there is a variable speed limit. That in itself is confusing, it should just say 30 ahead, because it implies there is a different speed limit when it's not school zone times.

The "High Pedestrian Activity (30)" sign is sneakly right after the "Speed Camera Ahead, School Zone 30" Sign

Google Maps view of the Camera on Bigge St

Northbound is slightly more clear, the signage indicates the entire area is 30km/h

Furthermore, the entire Bigge Street (if travelling Northbound, travelling from Liverpool Station) is plastered with 30km/h high pedestrian activity signs.

The letter provided says you were travelling Northerly, but according to the camera position on google maps It is tracking cars coming from the North of Bigge street, travelling in a southbound direction only (there are visible markings on the ground that you can see where the inductive wire loops have been placed, and they are on both lanes), but if you travelled northerly as per your letter, wouldn't that camera have flashed oncoming traffic?

Anyway, again thank you for sharing!

                      • +1

@cwongtech: I'll challenge but I'm not expecting much. It's definitely confusing and I'll keep you updated on the results. I was there for a wedding and just driving back to the hotel and wasn't even in a rush. Anyways just makes my point having to pay for other people's kids. I'm not going to be sorry for going at my speed to get out of Liverpool. I'd rather protect my family and my car from the locals than the other way around.

Speed Safety is a rubbish excuse. You only need 2km/h for a vehicle to kill someone and kill someone by simpling running at them.

                        • +2

                          @sunnyc:

I'm not going to be sorry for going at my speed to get out of Liverpool. I'd rather protect my family and my car from the locals than the other way around.

That's not an excuse for not paying attention to speed limit signs while driving. I too think 30km an hour in that part of Liverpool is stupid. But you should have been paying attention to speed limit signs.

              • +2

                @sunnyc:

Let’s take a bet, $1500don’t like wasting time with a smart ass. Put your money where your mouth is. 30km/h in school zones.

Done! I don't like wasting my time with entitled road users who think the rules don't apply to them.

As far as I can see, school zone falls in a 30km/h high pedestrian area which is signed as 30km/h. If you were pinged in a school zone at 11pm it would be an easy challenge but you weren't. The area has a 30km/h limit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Speeding 10-20km over will get you 3 demerits, in a school zone it's 4 demerits. You weren't done for speeding in a school zone, you were done for not paying attention to the posted speed limit!

Would you like my bank details or will you be paying cash?

While I don't agree with 30km/h limits, it's clearly signed and you screwed up. Stop whining and learn from your mistake.

                  • @kerfuffle: Wow! I drive Sydney roads regularly and unfortunately this is the selfish and entitled attitude I come across regularly.

I didn't read all three pages of drivel in your link but I hope it was contested in court and s/he (rightly) lost paying increased penalty and court costs for wasting everyone's time. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. We all make mistakes occasionally, learn from them and move on.

                    • @OzBragain: North of Bigge Street travelling southbound can be definitely confusing if you've never been in the area before (speed camera is located near the north edge of Bigge Street, the signs you would see are:
                      1) Speed camera, 30 school zone ahead, location: 29 Bigge Street
                      2) 15 metres later (2 car lengths), I would even call it 10m, you can see one car TOUCHING the other's bumper, "high pedestrian activity, (30), location: 40 Bigge Street
                      3) OLD google maps photo shows the zone used to be 40km/h school zone and 50km/h normal zone once it ends
If you turn your camera around in the same position you can see it say "End School Zone 50"
NEW google maps photos show that this has since been changed to 30km/h school zone
Northbound view shows "End School Zone, 30"
4)Last warning camera says: "Heavy Fines Loss of License, Variable Speed Limit enforced" with a "School zone 30" signs and active times on it

Personally I think if travelling southbound from North of Bigge Street, there is a strong reason to challenge the fine.

While I don't agree with 30km/h limits, it's clearly signed and you screwed up. Stop whining and learn from your mistake.

Travelling Southbound from North of Bigge St I would argue it's not clearly signed.
Take a virtual trip with Google's little yellow man down the road and you will see.
The change from 50km/h>30km/h is only indicated with one sign with poor visibility showing 30km/h, there are no further signs that suggest out of school zone hours, the area is 30km/h normally (leading up to the camera)

But if travelling northbound from south of Bigge Street, the entire road/area has been set to 30km/h due to pedestrian activity. (600m from Liverpool Station to the camera on Bigge Street, so plenty of notice)

The letter from sunnyc says direction of travel is Northerly though (northbound from the south side of Bigge St, which.. has at least 600m of 30km/h zones leading up to the camera)

                      • @cwongtech: Appreciate the effort you've gone to and detail included but ultimately the relevant points as I see it are

                        1) The letter from sunnyc says direction of travel is Northerly…
2a) …if travelling northbound from south of Bigge Street, the entire road/area has been set to 30km/h due to pedestrian activity.
2b) …the entire Bigge Street (if travelling Northbound, travelling from Liverpool Station) is plastered with 30km/h high pedestrian activity signs.

Unfortunately many of the Google street view images are out of date so difficult to know without visiting in person.

Speed limit change to 30km/h came into effect 17 July 2020 with a grace period of 1 month where warning letters were sent to drivers exceeding the new limit. If there was an issue with signage, I'd be very surprised if it hasn't been rectified in the 18months to now.

Have a read of the first half a page of the red light camera post kerfuffle linked to? Should have been three infringements issued, what an entitled clown!

I've had a read, trying to keep the incidents separate.
I don't agree with the OP's attitude and responses in that thread, definitely could have been handled better, but just trying to stay objective.

Unfortunately many of the Google street view images are out of date so difficult to know without visiting in person.

They appear to be all updated, all but one image (I only saw the old 40km/h image when revisiting Google Maps today) which is evidence of the past, and also how other school zones operate (40km/h during school hours, 50km/h during others)

but ultimately the relevant points as I see it are

Yep, I think if I were travelling Southbound at night from North of Bigge Street for the first time, I may have been hit by the same fine, there is literally one not-very-visible high pedestrian area 30kmph sign and all the others indicate there is a variable speed limit (which there isn't)
There's no way I'd get hit by that fine if travelling northbound due to the 600m of 30km high pedestrian zones though.

If there was an issue with signage, I'd be very surprised if it hasn't been rectified in the 18months to now.

Well it is the NSW Government and NSW Transport we're talking about here..

Up until the information provided by Sunnyc, I would have never thought such an area exists (30km/h school zones and permanent 30km/h area around it), so I suppose out of their unfortunate demise, we gain knowledge and education.

                          • @cwongtech:

Yep, I think if I were travelling Southbound at night from North of Bigge Street for the first time, I may have been hit by the same fine,

S/he was traveling north, 10+km/h above the posted speed limit and now making excuses for their mistake. Suck it up and move on…a point highlighted by the red light camera whinge.

I understand that I'm being pedantic but this is a school zone that falls within a permanent 30km/h limit rather than a 30km/h school zone.

Non compliant signage = more successful contested fines = less revenue for the govt. I reckon high level penny pinchers in the department would be sorting that out pretty quickly.

I'm just saying travelling southbound they may have a fair argument for challenging the confusing signage. (Letter says Northerly though, and if that is the actual direction of travel, then I don't see a way this can be challenged)

It appears it's easier to deliberately carry out mistakes, capture revenue first and hope people just accept, then cancel/refund to the small handful who object strongly later..
While this scenario is different and resulted in a successful contest (completely different driver, after two reviews), I think we should all give the benefit of the doubt for each situation

@cwongtech: S/he wasn't travelling southbound so we can probably drop that one.

I called BS on sunnyc's claim that s/he got pinged in a 30km/h school zone at 11pm and stand by my call. With the supplied infringement notice it's been established that s/he was driving over the posted limit of 30km/h and wasn't in an active school zone.

It was a mistake, I get it, I make them too. I just accept my mistakes, learn from them and move on rather than carrying on like an petulant child blaming anyone or anything for the mistake that I've made.

                                I mean wtf is this???

Speed Safety is a rubbish excuse. You only need 2km/h for a vehicle to kill someone and kill someone by simpling running at them.

Following this moronic logic means that all public roads should have either a 2km/h speed limit or no speed limit.

                                While this scenario is different…

Massively different. Killerbala doesn't come across as entitled or petulant and didn't run a red, light was clearly amber. They asked for advice and didn't waste the thread telling everyone who offered advice that they're wrong.

Trying to come to a conclusion on some entitled Sydney driver contesting an infringement in an area it appears neither of us have visited recently probably isn't worth your time or mine. Personally I believe the speeding fine should stand and that sunnyc should spend some time reading up on our road rules.

FWIW looks like s/he's also going to stiff me after throwing down $1500 on a bet that s/he was in fact pinged for school zone infringement at 11pm

Let’s take a bet, $1500don’t like wasting time with a smart ass. Put your money where your mouth is.

                                • @OzBragain: Sorry for late reply, got a busy day this week. Getting 5 hours of sleep every day for a week has a heavy toll. Every time I wrote and was about to post a reply, my phone would refresh and lose all i have written.

I am deciding whether or not I'm going to send you a letter of demand and whether or not it's enforceable. Talked to my law firms and 2 bookies and the only thing is the bet isn't worded very clearly but definitely swinging my way or void with the latter interpretation you provided. But It's 100% a 30km/hr school zone. If the sign says school zone 30km/h and the orange markings which indicate the school zone is 30km/h. The area is currently 30km/hr, if they were to reverse that decision and didn't reverse the decision to change the road markings and school zone signage. It would still be a 30km/h school zone and 50km/h normally.

                                  https://www.jamesgriffinmp.com/safer_speed_zones_for_manly
This is the speed safety logic I'm referring to as well as the school zone information. I never said public roads should have a lower speed limit for safety reasons.

Also never asked for any opinions about my speed fine. Just telling everyone I got stiffed I was going to contest it regardless and pay for it if it got rejected. The previous fine, I didn't even contest since the revenue rep said none of my wheels touched the line which was different from my recollection of the day. I still need to learn to not drive behind slow-moving vehicles like buses and trucks.

I'm not here asking for advice, you called bullshit on 40km/hr school zones and I called you out, it was $1440 and you didn't find it because it was a corporate fine and it's now $288 plus 3 points under my name. Doesn't matter how pedantic or stubborn you are. I was pinged by a school zone speed camera https://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au/speeding/speedcamera…. Only comes up in the school zone option.
Lastly still not a (profanity) excuse. Either I paid no attention to the sign, though it was a school zone sign, and ignored it or didn't see it. Doesn't matter. Of course, I whinge about paying a fine, why would I save all this money from Ozbargain and then pay it for a fine. The biggest road in Liverpool has 1 driving lane and was the only straight road out of the town without a detour. Lastly, I wish I was entitled, if there is any entitlement out there, I would sure look into it since I definitely don't feel like I am receiving any entitlement, all the buses, utes, vans, and cyclists have their way and I am the only one giving way to those who couldn't change lanes because no one else was willing to give way

                                  • @sunnyc: No need to apologise champ. I do appreciate that you're now being honest with the dollar amount you were fined for your offence though.

You were not in Manly and you did not receive an infringment notice for speeding in a school zone at 11pm on a Friday night.

While I don't really believe someone like you will honour it, I'm happy for you to settle our bet with cash or EFT.

I still need to learn to not drive behind slow-moving vehicles like buses and trucks

No, you need to learn not to enter an intersection until it's clear. I suggest brushing up on NSW road rules in general while you're at it.

Lastly, I wish I was entitled,

                                    Nek minute

all the buses, utes, vans, and cyclists have their way and I am the only one giving way to those who couldn't change lanes because no one else was willing to give way

The rest of your comment makes little to no sense so I won't respond to any points directly.

                                  • @sunnyc: Last reply was late and I missed this little gem

you called bullshit on 40km/hr school zones and I called you out

Doesn't matter how pedantic or stubborn you are. I was pinged by a school zone speed camera

Nearly but not quite, I think you may have misunderstood…much like you misunderstand the NSW road rules.

I called BS on $1400 speeding fine for going 44km/h in a 30km/h school zone at 11pm on a saturday from a school zone speed camera.

You have not been issued a driving infringement for "going 44km/h in a 30km/h school zone at 11pm on a saturday". You have been issued a driving infringement for driving 44km/h in a 30km/h "High Pedestrian Activity" area around 11pm on a Saturday night. School zones do not operate at 11pm on any night. The offence of exceed speed limit by 10-20km carries 3 demerits, in a school zone it's 4 demerits. You were not speeding in a school zone, you were not paying attention and exceeded the posted speed limit!

I think that's enough to call BS but additionally, you were not issued a $1400 fine, the company the vehicle is registered to was issued a $1400 fine because there was no nominated driver. Now that you have fulfilled your responsibilities and nominated yourself as the driver, you have been issued a $288 fine.

                                    • @OzBragain: You must have a lot of time on your hands. I'm going to go now because I have a busy week until Monday.

                                      • @sunnyc: Not really, I'm just efficient with my time.

Enjoy your busy week and stay alert on the roads. Here's a like to NSW Road User Handbook if you'd like to download and brush up on your responsibilities when driving on public roads.

Pity you had to run from your bet but I think we all knew you weren't going to pay up when you lost.

I take very safe bets for a living, I take joy in guarantors defaulting on their construction loans and charge exorbitant interest and eventually taking their assets for a tidy profit.

                                          • @sunnyc: Hahahaha, the contact's already written in the comments above buddy. We've clearly established that you weren't fined $1400 for speeding in an operational school zone at 11pm.

You lost the bet and are now trying to squirm out of it like a petulant child. Don't worry, I won't send the debt collectors around…I know you'll never pay what you owe.

I'm calling BS again! You're still trying to squirm out by now by trying to change your bet after you've been proven wrong.

You were called out for incorrectly claiming that you've "Just got a $1400 speeding fine for going 44km/h in a 30km/h school zone at 11pm on a saturday from a school zone speed camera." here.

If your claim is in fact true and you were fined at 11pm for speeding in a school zone, prove it! You're the one holding the evidence!! But you can't and you won't. We'll just see more of this blah blah I'm too busy blah blah I take joy in taking from people who can't pay their loans, desperately trying to distract from the fact that you've been proven wrong.

I'm here to collect and you pissing me off means any evidence to find your details means I will be sending you papers.

Ahhh another keyboard warrior making more empty threats. You can't even read an infringement notice or settle bets you lose let alone follow through on anonymous threats…baaaaaaaaahahahaha!!

Damn I would have thought this would have been great for Valentines.

I guess Easter is coming up same thing right?

    • did you book a hotel? most hotels weren't very full this valentines.

Nah I have not been able to claim the voucher yet.

It becomes available to me in early March then I can go late Valentines Day hunting or more ;)

  • +13

Personally, I prefer dine and discover, as we didn't pay much more than the value of the voucher.

    Hotels are much more expensive.

    • I think those really cheap budget hotels or motels might be around $100… but whether or not they will use the voucher or not is another question.

      • formula one at st peters could be booked by the hour back then :P

        • Haha I was about to say the same thing.. F1 hotels or motels or whatever was the go to for the cheapest accommodation by day and week.

  • I'm confused. Do we need to apply or will it just show up in service NSW app?

These Stay vouchers can be stacked. Would be worthwhile to collect some from friends and family who would not be using them.

    • +1

      Where does it say this?

      • +4

Not entirely true- you cannot use the vouchers from friends to pay for your stay.
However, if two people share the accommodation, you can each use your voucher to pay for the accommodation.
Please see the terms and conditions here
        https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/stay-nsw/terms-and-conditions…

…Only redeem a Voucher issued to the Customer personally. Vouchers are non-transferrable and cannot be transferred to or used by persons other than the Customer to whom they were issued and cannot be traded with other people for cash.

For the same accommodation booking, each individual can present their Voucher to pay towards the booking, e.g. if two Customers are staying together in the same room each Customer can redeem their Voucher towards the cost of the Accommodation Services.

I quote directly from nine.com.au "People can pool the $50 Stay NSW Vouchers with relatives or mates, with no redemption limit," said Mr Dominello.

        • +4

          So your comprehension was incorrect.
Pooling vouchers is fine, using someone else’s voucher is not.

Hence your assertion “Would be worthwhile to collect some from friends and family who would not be using them” may lead to frustration if someone followed the advice.

Please go by the official terms and conditions.

          • -2

@darkmattersunB6c0MV: My comprehension was correct based on the line that I have read from Mr Dominello. Should have just said one voucher per registered adult per stay. Simple and effective.

If I bring my 2 kids along can my 2 kids use their grand parent's vouchers so we could use 4 vouchers in total?

            • +2

              @DarkOz: Herein lies the issue.
If you go to the terms and conditions page, it is clear that you can pool unlimited vouchers- but it doesn’t mean that you can use someone else’s voucher.
Your kids can’t use their grandparents voucher, but can stay in an accommodation where voucher can be used only if your grand parents are staying too.

              • -4

@darkmattersunB6c0MV: Why don't you tell Mr Dominello that instead of me?

                • +3

@DarkOz: Guys, stop arguing and tell me if I can stack it with the wife and the girlfriend? In the true spirit of ozbargain, although not sure if I will survive afterwards.

                • @DarkOz: He said nothing incorrectly. He said the pooling is allowed.

Your interpretation of the same was the issue because you comprehended it incorrectly.

Pooling is for the benefits of all involved.
Also, it is quite clear that you can only redeem a voucher that has been issued to you personally from the terms and conditions.
Otherwise, what is to prevent you from selling the voucher?

I don't want to argue with you, but in my humble opinion, your interpretation is incorrect.

People can still do the wrong thing and impersonate someone else to use the voucher, but that is not the intended use of the voucher, nor the point of discussion.

The voucher cannot be used for:
    - Airbnb, online accommodation booking platforms and travel agents.

    As per: https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-stay-nsw-vo…

Pretty useless to me, and fairly limited use case for most people I'd guess.

    • +1

Novotel Darling Harbour said you can still book online and pay in person (rather than online) and use the voucher.

    • +3

When you book online, just don't choose a prepay version and settle the bill at checkout (like you normally would with a hotel).

      • +1

Interesting, so I can go to the official Hilton or Marriott website, book a Sydney hotel with a postpaid rate. Then scan the 2 vouchers (bringing in a guest) during check in, and then the vouchers will get reflected on the receipt.

    • That's actually a little confusingly worded. They mean third party online accomodation booking platforms like Expedia and Booking.com, you absolutely can use them online on your accomodating provider's own website or through their own booking provider (see here for the business version of how the vouchers work which is a little clearer on that).

  • You can also use the parents voucher on accommodation.

Has anyone figured out if you can stack a parents voucher with the stay NSW voucher during the same stay?

  • So this is basically an "incentive" for people who were already planning a getaway…

Is this a joke, $50 accommodation?
Even places like Mercure are charging over $200/night.

Where are you going to use it at?
    Henry's Crappy Cabin Stayz?

    • Yeah; SA gave out $100 vouchers for the city and North Adelaide hotels and even non-SA residents could apply.

      • Just saw it on the SA tourism website… looks like the accommodation vouchers are sold out for now. Just the experiences voucher left. Not sure if there is going to be another round. Oh well.

    • Its a $50 voucher, you get $50 off the price……….

Thanks Domicron. Your policies ruined xmas for people and retailers and now you give us a handout using our own money. How nice of you.
