  • 6000Mhz…thats insane! Love it.
High end ddr4 is now x2 faster than when it launched, will this be similar for ddr5? In 4 years will we see 9000mhz?

    • The DDR5 specification allows up to 8400MHz and overclocking to 8000MHz has already been achieved. According to ADATA their new XPG lineup will support 12600mhz in future. Though I'd expecting the timings to be crazy high.

    • +2

The latency is significantly higher (double) as well, so its not the whole story.

      • Despite that it's about twice as fast. It's a significant jump.

        • +2

CAS Latency is more than double…

You're looking at performance gains/deficits within 10% depending on the application.

          • @ATangk: DDR4 has a maximum data rate of of 3.2Gbps whereas DDR5 is 8.4Gbps. That's a huge performance difference. Imagine the amount of calculations possible with DDR5 in comparison. Don't worry about gaming benchmarks.

  • Pricy gear, doubt it's worth it compared to just a b550 and 5800x or something.

    • if you are happy with ddr4 for the $700 mark you could just make it for mboard, 16gb and an i5 12500 ….the ddr5 definitely costs a premium at the moment …..

  • No bundles with ITX board?
